In case you lost it - a link to the eSIM donation guide. Even if you feel sick and powerless, you can at least do this. And even if you really, really can’t donate, you can always at least share this and remind others.
the lowest tier, which costs 9 dollars, offers a week of connection while the very next, 16 dollars, will provide a full month of contact with the world to someone who desperately needs it. this is not some idle step. an entire month is a huge length of time for people who are displaced, terrified, and isolated.
I called someone obtuse on tiktok and they reported my comment lol
I’m glad that’s what’s getting flagged and not all the Nazisand racists
People can totally disagree with me, but I think Van Helsing 2004 is one of the best Dracula and Frankenstein film adaptations.
Are they also inspired by their 1930s counterparts? Yes!
But is Dracula homoerotic and dramatic as hell? Yes!
is Frankenstein’s monster well read, smart, and actually compassionate given his circumstances and lack of a father figure?
Lol yeah
When is our second moon showing up? I want to see the baby!!!
A message to the Dropout community –
First off, we want to tell you how much we appreciate everyone who reached out expressing discomfort about the use of an outdated and offensive term in not one, but two pieces of content within the past few weeks - our Dropout Presents special Chris Grace: As Scarlett Johansson and the most recent episode of Breaking News. These should have been caught and removed at an earlier stage, and we want to apologize for letting this happen, especially to all indigenous Inuit, Yupik, and Aleut fans. Chris brought the issue to our attention as well, and we’ve been working with him to ensure everything was properly addressed.
But what are we doing about it? For one, removing the offensive slurs from those respective episodes. And second, we’re donating $5,000 to Arctic Rose, a non-profit organization that helps Northern Inuit & Indigenous youth by providing safe spaces to participate and grow through Indigenous-led, arts-based, and culturally grounded programs.
We appreciate everyone who brought this issue to our attention, and will be mindful about it going forward!

Additionally, Chris wanted to put together a statement of his own, which you can read here!
Now I’m wondering what they could have possibly said that was that bad. I’m trying to imagine what it could have possibly been but I can’t come up with anything
irt to Chris Grace, he used a commonly used racial slur for Inuit people in his comedy special, likely because he didn’t realize it was a slur (most people don’t). I’m unsure what happened on Breaking News but it may just be another instance of the slur since the Inuit people seem to be the core of the applicable reparations.
the reason it doesn’t read as “that bad” is because most people, likely yourself included, don’t even realize it’s a slur.
I’d like to hear the opinion of a person that belongs to one of these cultures about this whole situation
Not about this situation, but in general of the use of the word here is an article from NPR that discusses why we don’t use and how inuit people feel about the use of the word
https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2016/04/24/475129558/why-you-probably-shouldnt-say-eskimo
Here is a video of a inuit person saying how they feel about the word
https://www.tiktok.com/@inuksuk/video/7085774985393868038
But I would take a guess you’re being pandantic about this situation not because you want to learn. The inuit have been trying to get people to stop using the word in questions for a while, and it’s one thing to not know, and a whole other bs situation to try and get an answer that is 1. easy to find the answer yourself and 2 such a specific scenario to get an answer that you won’t take it serious u til you get it. That is a literal technique used by racists and has been in use forever.
But in the event you were generally curious, here you go!
actually, frankenstein is the name of the scientist. the horrible emo monster nobody wants to fucking talk to is named lord byron
Who is the real subject of most love poems? Not the beloved. It is the hole. When I desire you, a part of me is gone: my want of you partakes of me. So reasons the lover at the edge of eros. The presence of want awakens in him nostalgia for wholeness. His thoughts turn toward questions of personal identity: he must recover and reincorporate what is gone if he is to be a complete person. […] Most people find something disturbingly lucid and true in Aristophanes’ image of lovers as people cut in half. All desire is for a part of oneself gone missing, or so it feels to the person in love.

Sending love to everyone who has health issues or chronic pain in parts of your body that aren’t usually socially acceptable to talk about. It’s frustrating to feel like you can never explain your pain to someone because it’s TMI and to feel like you have to hide it. Your pain is nothing to be ashamed of. I see you, and I’m sending you support and strength.

If the subway takes 20 minutes and the car takes 30, but you usually drive, it’s 30. If the walk takes 10 minutes and the bus takes 45 minutes so you walk, it’s 10 minutes. Etc.
Kind of interested in seeing how accessible libraries are to people, mostly.
