It seems hell froze over and after 11 years on e621 I began uploading. I had accumulated over the years around 1000 pieces of furry porn not on e621. I put all my collected furry porn in Hydrus, a program with booru-like capabilities, and via the Public Tag Repository (PTR), Hydrus probably has e621's tags for just about every post on e621, with some caveats.

I was increasingly faced with the choice of tagging only for Hydrus, benefiting only the other very few Hydrus users who happened to have the art I was tagging, or I could just upload that art to e621, tag it here, and benefit a much larger ecosystem (e621, artists, commissioners, saucenao, booru cross-pollinators, PTR, myself). I finally came across some art that was too good not to save for myself that I also felt would not make it to e621 if not for me, not anytime soon, so I broke down and started uploading. And I haven't stopped.

In the process of uploading porn from my collection to e621, I've become incredibly distracted trying to fill out e621's artist collections with other "missing" art I've encountered while sourcing my uploads. I've come to realize that, even with everything already on e621 and our army of uploaders, our artist collections are still very incomplete, even when only considering their better art. It's somewhat upsetting checking an artist's personal galleries only to find out that e621 is missing plenty of their good art and has been for years. Some of that art I'd have saved myself years ago had I seen it on e621, and I'm sure other e621 users feel similarly about other missing art.

I've deviated a lot from my original goal with multiple artist upload projects that I've been slowly chipping away at. Choosing upload targets, sourcing, identifying characters, and tagging to my standard is quite time-consuming. In many instances, I cannot finish an upload project without finding several other good potential projects, and I do not have time to finish everything I want. I certainly have even less time now that I'm janitor.

I place proportionally greater importance on artists and art sites that I feel are overlooked by others uploading to e621. In many cases, I feel confident that if I wasn't uploading this art here, then no one else would. It feels good knowing I've unearthed lesser viewed and forgotten art for a broader audience to appreciate. May I collect far more Ws than Ls.
