Caregiver Other Mother Headcanons (Coraline)

The weekend of out of character villains continues!

• As the Cat theorized, the Other Mother wants something she can love - something that isn’t a part of herself, something with free will that still loves her back. And as soon as she finds you, she thinks you could be exactly what she wants.
• She welcomes you into her world, where she keeps everything sized a bit too big (including herself), so you really feel like a child.
• The world she creates for you is full of interesting creatures and impossible situations, and she loves sending you out to explore.
• Bugs are often incorporated into aspects of the world, since she finds them so interesting and beautiful. She’ll try to choose bugs that you also like, and even the most dangerous kinds will never harm you.
• The Other Mother makes you your very own special doll, so she can keep an eye on you whenever you’re away from her.
• She also sews clothes with childish designs or characters on them - clothes you might not be able to find in your size in the “real world”. She even makes them a bit too large, so you seem that much smaller.
• Anytime you decide to visit her, she is ready to give you attention. She’s never busy or distracted; you are all she cares about.
• She’s an amazing cook, and only serves foods you enjoy. There is always something warm and fresh waiting for you whenever you visit.
• She loves games, and is always eager to play with you. She can get a bit competitive, but if she beats you, she’ll give you some kind of treat for trying.
• Every time you leave, the Other Mother makes you promise to return - but unlike with your predecessors, she doesn’t try to keep you in her world. She tells herself this is a new strategy, playing a long game until you ask to stay permanently. The truth is, her existence is a lonely one, and she doesn’t want to risk losing you as she eventually lost the others.
