tl;dr for Issliss is that it’s a “Biopunk*” fantasy world with very low/minimal magic. A thousand years ago, humans invaded a land of intelligent monsters. They failed, and for a millennia humans have been subjugated by three awful factions that rule the continent. Issliss runs entirely on d6s. It’s designed for very streamlined combat (to minimize the amount of gameplay time spent waiting for mechanically complicated turns), and cooperation.
A human cannot make it in this world alone. But together, you might be able to make a difference and stand against the oppressive creatures who use humans as labor and food.
*a lot of things that call themselves punk are just an aesthetic with no actual punk themes. Issliss is VERY much a game about organizing small rebellions against fascist systems. The player group is literally called a “cell” and your game stats are displayed as “VECTORs” (Vigor, Endurance, Cunning, Temperament, Observation, Reflexes), i.e. how your character would be quantified on a dossier put together by your oppressors. We developed systems for “Synergy” to emphasize the theme of human players working together to achieve larger goals.
