About
Hi there!
This is a little extra “about me” space to supplement my blog description and primary tags. I’ll repeat some tidbits from my description and elaborate on a few.
Online, I go by Elluenda, which is a mix of stuff including numerology and Sindarin and Quenya words that basically mean “Heart of the Star Person.” This is my outer court name and I’m cool with shortenings or nicknames based off of this name. This is also my penpal name, which you can send snailmail to!
I answer to any pronouns and any gendered words and prefer a mix. i’m queer and that’s what we got to go on.
Forest Elf - I’m otherkin!
Specifically, my kintypes are elf (specifically Tolkien), barred owl, north american opossum, tulip poplar, and western sycamore. Elf is my base and constant experience, and I do not have an “unshifted human” experience of myself, and haven’t felt human even as a kid. I have a mixed theory of origin based on psychological and spiritual concepts.
I tag art, meta headcanons, writing, or other stuff about elves and the experience of being an elf as #elvenkind. Stuff about elves from a specific universe will have tags for that universe, like #tolkien or #the_elder_scrolls.
Spirituality
My religion is an eclectic amalgam of local land spirits, Tolkien Valar and Maiar, and Philosophies of Buddhism and Stoicism. It’s one of my favored topics, although it often defies description. I practice my religion via trance, meditation, divination, and misc. witchcraft practices. My current tag is “#my mothers name is death” and I have a few defunct tags like “#magic aesthetic” or “#witchref.” I will admit that most of the things I collected as “witchref”, information or ideas don’t actually get used and don’t really suit my style. For example, I don’t celebrate the conventional Wiccan wheel of the year or renamed versions of those holy days. I do celebrate cross-quarter holidays based on the first and last frost dates and harvests though! I also do my own version of dark and full moon celebrations written and practiced by the folks at Tie-Eldalieva.
Image Descriptions
Why do I write and reblog content with image descriptions and avoid content which is not described?
I am not particularly sight impaired outside of near sightedness and astigmatism. I realized that the built-in description for tumblr images functions poorly (if at all) and that most people who upload images do not use it, which renders it basically negated.
I use image descriptions and prefer to follow blogs that use image descriptions because I most often access the internet from a very very slow cell signal connection. I don’t always have the time to wait for every single image to load–I would rather save my time and data for images that have descriptions which interest me. With image descriptions, I can know what a post is portraying without needing to sit there and wait to find out it’s just a screencap of a twitter joke I don’t understand. Text loads a lot faster than images, and I’d rather just read a caption than a photo of the page of a book.
It’s also important to me that the largest amount of people, including sight impaired and blind people, be able to enjoy media. It’s just kinder to do the small effort to make things accessible to people.
Corsetry and other clothing stuff
I started wearing a corset in mid-November of 2020 and adore it. It’s ridiculously comfortable, to the degree that I put it on when I rise and don’t take it off until shortly before bed. The tag for posts related to corsetry is “#Girdleofmelian”, which is a Tolkien reference :p
Most of my wardrobe is natural fibers, and I primarily wear handmedowns. I have a few pieces I specifically bought for myself, but I make it a point to avoid fast fashion at all costs. I’d rather have a few very comfortable, many-times-mended natural linen, wool, cotton, and leather pieces. My general uniform is underskirt+undershirt, corset, overdress, socks+legwarmers if it is cold, and my trusty sandals with the ankle strap. Those things have lived through a lot! I am happy to talk about my process for transitioning from plastic to natural fibers with people who are curious or are trying to do so themselves!
