Babe you haven’t sexualised me once today, what’s wrong?
I simply cannot be normal about this return.
Cute but also crazy that, though I know she really does want to help the monkeys, Elphaba wants to go to the castle to see Fiyero after the announcement that he’s engaged. She has no plan as to what would even happen if she saw him. At that point, she still believes there’s no chance he could love her. She can’t even admit that she wants to see him out loud when Nessa acuses her.
Then she shows up and he’s just like oh I’ve been waiting and searching for you. I’ve been dreaming that you’d show up.
Elphaba, walking away from her first interaction with Fiyero, having just experienced friendly, well-meaning teasing for the first time in her life: ???????

I have so many thoughts on why Mel King is such an important character. Mostly because of how she absolutely DESTROYS the current popular autistic character trope. Too often creators use autistic characters to deliver cruel and cutting lines under the guise of those characters βjust being honestβ and Mel over here is the MOST empathetic character on the show. It happens over and over in the episodes, something happens and you can tell that she feels, deeply feels, what the patients are feeling. Itβs glorious. Bless all of the writers for creating her and Taylor Dearden for her portrayal. Itβs fabulous.
