ScandalMonger is a 2002 trivia board game based on scandals.

Development

edit

ScandalMonger was created by Tim Graf. In total, Graf wrote 2,000 trivia questions for the game, researching stories using almanacs, newspaper archives and internet resources.[1]

Gameplay

edit

The game is for 2 to 6 players,[2] who take the roles of newspaper journalists. They move around the board answering trivia questions on scandals. The aim is to collect stories in five different categories: Unsportsmanlike Conduct, Hollywood Highjinks, Rock 'N Roll Wrongdoing, Political Intrigue and Miscellaneous Misdeeds. There are "confrontation spaces" where players can receive penalties or rewards. Players can also steal stories from other players. Once a player has collected enough stories to fill the front page of the ScandalMonger Newspaper, they return to the newsroom to win the game.[1]

The scandals and misdemeanours mentioned in the trivia cover the period from 1950 to 2002.[2]

Release

edit

The game was published in 2002 and sold in toy stores in America, and online.[2]
