Dear Wikiproject members, most of the articles for cities and villages in Armenia are still using the 2011 census data in the infobox, lead and body as the latest information. The 2022 Armenian census results are accessible [https://www.armstat.am/en/?nid=82&id=2623 here] (you have to download and unpack the .rar file under "CHAPTER1. POPULATION DISTRIBUTION"). Based on the numbers used in the current articles, the statistic that should be used is "permanent population/մշտական բնակչություն". The data for individual villages apparently requires you to open each individual province's file [https://www.armstat.am/en/?nid=111 here]. Please help add them so the articles can have the most up to date information on population. [[User:Revolution Saga|Revolution Saga]] ([[User talk:Revolution Saga|talk]]) 20:45, 1 March 2024 (UTC)

:Thanks for sharing that, {{u|Revolution Saga}}. I had a look at your links and think that the administrative organisation of villages is certainly up-to-date (in regards to ''hamaynks''), though I'm unsure if the population number reflects the 2022 census. In the [https://www.armstat.am/file/Map/MARZ_09.pdf Syunik] file for example, there is a footnote in the header "''Number of permanent population as of January 1, 2023, person''" (page 371, or page 10 of the PDF) stating the following:
Input is needed to close a discussion on deleting and merging a number of categories at [[Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2023 October 19#Category:Russian and Soviet emigrants to Albania]]. Thanks. &nbsp;—''[[user:Mzajac|Michael]]&nbsp;[[user_talk:Mzajac|Z]].'' 05:41, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
::"''<b style="color:#228B22">The pօpulation of cities/towns are presented according to the current population statistics based on the RA 2011 Population Census.</b>''"
:In the following page, pertaining to non-urban settlements, the footnote in the same header states the following:
::"''<b style="color:#228B22">The sources of these data on RA villages are statistical annual reporting forms «Age and Sex composition of rural population» provided by the communities. According to this source the total permanent population of RA 953 villages, as a whole and by marzes (regions), have some deviation from the same data of current statistics of population, which are based on the administrative registers of the Civil Status Acts of the Ministry of Justice and the Police (Adjusted by the Results of Integrated Living Conditions Survey), while the latter is statistically adjusted by the migration results of ILCS (as of 01.01.2023 the deviation comprised 8.7% for the Republic). The deviation is mainly due to the lack of a system for registration, exchange, comparison and verification of the given information between the villages at the level of nominal data.''</b>"

== Armenian ''hamaynks'' (municipalities/communities) ==
== A question regarding "High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs (Armenia)" article ==

{{bcc|Revolution Saga}}{{bcc|AntonSamuel}}<!--Pinging you as I've noticed your interest in such articles-->Hi all, I'm wondering if we can come up with a template for articles of the Armenian ''[[Administrative_divisions_of_Armenia#Municipalities_(hamaynkner)|hamaynk]]'''s, which in the late 2010s were consolidated to somewhat resemble the ''[[Administrative_divisions_of_the_Armenian_Soviet_Socialist_Republic#List_of_rayons_(1930–1995)|rayon]]s'' of the Armenian SSR, though remaining under a ''marz''. I've added information in many Armenian villages' infoboxes and ledes regarding their ''hamaynk'' (and wikilinked it pending their creation), but I think it would be a good idea to get a template out of how the ''hamaynk'' articles may best be written/formatted. Accordingly, the ''marz'' articles' administrative divisions section would need to be adjusted to reflect the consolidated ''hamaynks''. Also, I think it's worth noting that at least one ''hamaynk'' (i.e. [[Gorayk Municipality]]) was [[Special:Diff/1220368710/1235685061|abolished]] since their introduction in the late 2010s, according to the 2022 census, so it'd be helpful to have a list of the most up-to-date subdivisions. On another note, though more semantic-related, should the ''hamaynks'' be referred to on wiki as "community" or "municipality"? Let me know your thoughts. Dear community,

== Women in Green's October 2024 edit-a-thon ==
I'd like to create a page on Wikipedia about the "Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs (Armenia)" and tell more about its' mission and current programs. As far as I know, this page does not exist in English. However, there is a page that describes a similar position - [[High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs (Armenia)]] and it has an Armenian translation which is called [[:hy:Հայաստանի_սփյուռքի_նախարարություն|Հայաստանի սփյուռքի նախարարություն]] (''eng. Ministry of Diaspora of Armenia'' - which is a government agency but not a position). Also the current English article has the template at the bottom of the page which is called '''Government of Armenia''' and the article is mentioned as a ministry there (but in fact this article is not about the ministry, but about the position). My question is - should I create a new page for the government agency or should I change the name and the content for the current one? I don't know what to do to move forward, so I decided to ask here.

Hello WikiProject Armenia:

'''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Green|WikiProject Women in Green]]''' is holding a ''' month-long [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Green/Meetup/7|Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024]]'''!<br /><br />
:Good question- I've been wondering about this too. We need to confirm whether or not the ministry itself even exists, or if it was entirely replaced by the position (the official who works on Diaspora affairs). If a separate department or ministry exists, then I support the creation of the article. However, if the department/ministry was abolished and/or replaced then there is no point and the current article should be maintained as is. It all depends what we can confirm based on [[WP:RS]]. If you look at the edit history on [[High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs (Armenia)]], in July 2022, [[User:Revolution Saga|Revolution Saga]] moved the article claiming that the Ministry of Diaspora no longer exists and was replaced by the High Commissioner. Perhaps Revolution Saga can provide more insight to this? Thanks in advance! [[User:Archives908|Archives908]] ([[User talk:Archives908|talk]]) 15:38, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme '''Around the World in 31 Days'''! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least '''31 countries''' (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
::Hi @[[User:Yunido|Yunido]] and @[[User:Archives908|Archives908]], the Ministry of Disapora was in fact abolished back in early 2019 and replaced with the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs. I forgot to add more information with relevant citations when I moved the page. The Armenian Wikipedia page Yunido mentioned simply hasn't been updated since the changes. I don't think it would make sense to create a separate article for the office (as in the government body) and the office (as in the position) of commissioner itself. It should be one or the other, and there is no need for an article about the defunct ministry now, since the High Commissioner's office was explicitly created as a replacement for it. [https://www.arlis.am/DocumentView.aspx?DocID=130615 This] is the relevant law where the abolition of the ministry and its replacement by the High Commissioner's Office is described, and you can read more about it at these links: [https://www.azatutyun.am/a/29701420.html] [https://www.azatutyun.am/a/29674178.html], [https://www.azatutyun.am/a/30004288.html]. Best, [[User:Revolution Saga|Revolution Saga]] ([[User talk:Revolution Saga|talk]]) 07:41, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
:::@[[User:Revolution Saga|Revolution Saga]] thanks for the detailed answer! But aren't the concepts of ''the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs'' and ''High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs'' a little bit different? It's the same difference like [[Ministry of Defence of Armenia]] (as a goverment body) and [[Minister of Defence (Armenia)]] (as a position). According to the official website of the Office there are two different concepts: [http://diaspora.gov.am/en/persons/2/Zareh-Sinanyan <nowiki>[1]</nowiki>], [http://diaspora.gov.am/en/structures/1/office-of-high-commissioner <nowiki>[2]</nowiki>]. In order not to confuse these two concepts (if a reader is not immersed in the topic, then they may get confused in these), I would create another page specifically for the Office. Or I would rename the current article of [[High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs (Armenia)]] to ''Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs (Armenia).'' The current programs and its activities should be mentioned there (since they are carried out not only by the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, but also by a team of employees and departments of the Office). What do you think? [[User:Yunido|Yunido]] ([[User talk:Yunido|talk]]) 08:12, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

We hope to see you there!
