Marco Kasper (German pronunciation: [ˈmarkoː ˈkaspɐ]; born 8 April 2004) is an Austrian professional ice hockey centre for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted eighth overall by the Red Wings in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career
editKasper made his professional debut for Rögle BK on 21 January 2021, where he played 11 minutes 35 seconds. He became the second player born in 2004 to play in the SHL.[1]
He was drafted eighth overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.[2] On 13 July 2022, the Red Wings signed Kasper to a three-year, entry-level contract.[3]
Kasper played his first career NHL game on 2 April 2023, in a 5–2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. He recorded his first NHL point on October 19, 2024, in a game in a 5-2 win over the Nashville Predators, assisting on a goal scored by Vladimir Tarasenko.[4] He scored his first NHL goal on November 15, 2024, in a game against John Gibson of the Anaheim Ducks that resulted in a 6-4 loss.[5]
International play
editKasper represented Austria at the 2021 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships where he recorded one assist in four games.[6] He also represented Austria at the 2022 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.[7]
Personal life
editKasper's father, Peter, played for various professional hockey clubs in Austria, as well as at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Kasper had a role in the Austrian film Harrinator, playing a young hockey player named Robert Begusch.[8][9]
