- November 11–15: The Tarnac Nine are arrested in Tarnac, France and accused of large-scale sabotage of the French rail network
- September 1–4: The 2008 Republican National Convention takes place in Twin Cities, Minnesota, greeted by the RNC Welcoming Committee
- August 25–28: American anarchist collectives including Unconventional Action protest the 2008 Democratic National Convention
- July 16: North American anarchists gather in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the seventh annual CrimethInc. Convergence
- May 23: Anarchist folk-singer Utah Philips dies of congenital heart failure.
- May 1: Hundreds of anarchist nationalists and far-left radicals clash in the worst riots in Hamburg, Germany in years
- March 21-24: Anarchist Convergence held in Melbourne, Australia, to discuss the establishment of a Regional Anarchist Federation.
- February 7: A Chilean anarchist group called the Severino Di Giovanni Antipatriotic Band claimed responsibility for the bombing of a police station in Providencia, Chile.
- February 2, 2008: Anarchists in Athens, Greece attacked a demonstration by the neo-nazi organization Golden Dawn.

- December 2007-January 2008: Spain's Confederación General del Trabajo declare's a strike of Barcelona's bus drivers, from 21-24 December, and 2-4 January.
- March 29: Uprisings in Santiago and all across Chile mark the Day of the Youth Combatant
- March 2: The eviction of Ungdomshuset by Danish police results in days of rioting in Nørrebro, Copenhagen.
- February 22: Thousands of students march through Athens, Greece and clash with police to protest government plans to reform higher education and introduce private universities.
- January 20: The World Social Forum opens in Nairobi, Kenya.
- January 16, 2007: The Peoples Popular Assembly of Oaxaca (APPO) and the Trique people create the Free and Autonomous Municipality of San Juan Copala in the eastern region of Oaxaca, Mexico.
2006
- December 30: The 6th encuentro of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation begins in Oventik, Chiapas, Mexico.
- December 7: Hugo Cores, influential South American political activist and last surviving core member of the Partido por la Victoria del Pueblo, dies on the way home from a political meeting in Uruguay.
- October 29: Mexican federal and military police, supported by army troops, seize the center of Oaxaca, which had served as the headquarters for the five-month protest occupation of the city. Protestors had demanded the resignation of state governor Ulises Ruiz Ortiz, after he sent a brigade of over 3000 police to the area to break the strike of a teachers' union in June.
- July 30, 2006: American libertarian socialist and social ecologist Murray Bookchin passes away at the age of 85.
2005
- September 2005: In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, poor residents of New Orleans, United States, without the help of government, organize their own relief efforts. Neighbors conduct boat rescues, guard each other's houses, set up shelters, and coordinate food distribution.
- September 8, 2005: In one of the largest mass arrests in Denmark history, Christiania trailersite residents are evicted from the partially self-governing neighborhood of Copenhagen.
- September 2005: The EZLN host the first plenary of the Other Campaign, an initiative to build a national, non-electoral plan of struggle.
