Here Come the Brides

edit

At the very end of Barbara Hambly's novel Ishmael -- a tie-in to the television series Here Come the Brides -- Amanda Grayson is revealed to be a descendant of Brides character Aaron Stempel. It seems really pointless to mention this without also mentioning that Aaron Stempel was played by Mark Lenard. -- —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.168.150.118 (talkcontribs) 22:14, 24 June 2006

Lady

Why "Lady" - where does that come from ? -- Beardo 07:38, 30 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's the proper title for the wife of an ambassador. — Loadmaster (talk) 03:55, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Arthur Conan Doyle reference

edit

In the film Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Spock says "When you have eliminated the impossible, everything that is left must be the truth", a comment he attributes to one of his ancestors. This is a quote from the Sherlock Holmes novel, The Sign of Four, which implies that Amanda is a descendant of Arthur Conan Doyle.

I'm a wiki-newbie here, so I hope I didn't break any protocols. I disagree that Spock's use of the Arthur Conan Doyle quote implies that Amanda is a descendant of ACD. It could imply that Spock incorrectly attributes the quote to a Vulcan predecessor of Sarek. There is lots of precedent in TOS and in STVI:TUC of characters taking the credit for other's quotes, ideas, inventions, etc. In TOS, a recurring gag was that Chekov claimed that everything was invented by the Russians. In STVI, the Klingons claim that one hasn't read Hamlet unless he's read it in "the original Klingon". Theepdought (talk) 20:23, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speculation

edit

So much speculation in the article, it needs a rewrite from top to bottom. Lots42 (talk) 11:06, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Redirect

edit

The article, such as it was, contained only summary of minor plot points for this character, with no treatment of its development or critical response. Unless someone can find evidence of significant third-party coverage, the topic does not meet WP:GNG. --EEMIV (talk) 03:55, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

working on a rewrite; added ref's; cheers Lx 121 (talk) 14:57, 20 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Merge

edit

The prevailing opinion at AfD is to merge this article into List of Star Trek characters: G-M. I've flagged the article to note that. In the interest of centralizing discussion, comments about the merger should go to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Amanda Grayson as long as that discussion is open. —C.Fred (talk) 16:43, 22 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
