I see this page was nominated for deletion, although ultimately kept. I wanted to note some additional sources, some of which should probably be added as citations to the article:
A collection of correspondence letters and legal papers from the University of Wyoming American Heritage Center: https://archiveswest.orbiscascade.org/ark:/80444/xv684711 -- I have requested copies of these documents. I'm not sure if any of them would be helpful here but happy to provide them once I receive them.
