Talk:Bond strength

Bond strength shows how tightly each atom is attached to one another and how much energy is required to break the binding between the 2 atoms — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.225.249.60 (talk) 09:48, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

WHY

edit

QUOTE: It is the degree to which each atom linked to another atom contributes to the valency of this other atom. QUESTION: why valency? do we exclude non-valent bonds, when we talk about bond strength? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.251.115.2 (talk) 09:18, 27 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Extension

edit

This article needs to be significantly extended. The terms "overlap"/"overlap integral" would need their own article that this article could link to, presently there are no such articles. The article on exchange interaction displays a (radial?) overlap integral but is not suitable for this purpose.

Name change

edit

The "chemistry" disambiguation is unnecessary because Bond strength is just a redirect to this article. I propose that the name be changed to "bond strength" or to "bonding strength", with a redirect from bond strength. Does anyone object, or have a preference for the new name? -- Kjkolb 09:21, 19 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Discussion

  • Seems a pointless redirect, so I have no objections! Since this doesn't seem to be a controversial move, I'm not creating a "Voting" subheading, if anyone opposes the move, please do create a new subheading! --Lox (t,c) 18:33, 13 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • I tried to Just Do It but it failed with, "The page could not be moved: a page of that name already exists, or the name you have chosen is not valid. Please choose another name, or use Requested moves to ask an administrator to help you with the move." ??? --James S. 08:34, 16 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Moved. —Nightstallion (?) 11:47, 18 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
