History: Windrush Scandal
editI've moved the Windrush Scandal subsection to the end of the history section, which chronologically seems the more sensible place to put it (it was originally placed between the sections about the original immigration, and the events of the 70s/80s). Iapetus (talk) 08:43, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
Windrush scandal article
editThe Windrush scandal article (which was originally 'forked off' from the Amber Rudd article), is pretty muddled in its present form, but is still getting page views in the many thousands. The section remaining in Rudd's article, is also muddled (though less important).
The article bears all the hallmarks of being hurriedly written - mainly by one editor - and added to, but left in a state in which it is difficult to follow for anyone who didn't already know most of what there was to know.
Any help would be much appreciated. (please ping me if replying here or use article talk page - which I'm watching). Pincrete (talk) 17:17, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS SECTION
editI think we should create an award section- see for instance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Asian#Awards_and_achievements
Could include things such as MOBOs, and UK Black Powerlists etc
Crime and academics
editWe all know communities in the UK face unique problems but I am baffled as to why social issues such as high levels of crime and lack of academic achievement has not been mentioned British Bangladeshi and Pakistanis contain large chunks on their social issues and so should this article. 90tillinfinitydue (talk) 23:05, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- [1] Here's one which states a disproportionate number of Afro caribbean youth are in prison and more are in Jail than university its a vitally important social problem. 90tillinfinitydue (talk) 23:07, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- There are a disproportionate amount of e.g. Pakistanis involved in street grooming, yet there's no mention of that on the relevant page. Considering the Asian population is 6% and is also over represented in prisons (8%)-surprised there's zero mention of this on any of the Asian pages. Also, your point about education is moot. A section regarding that has long been included. Koppite1 (talk) 00:28, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- You were keen to try and brush Asians as groomers but now your crying about this suggestion your argument holds no water the social issues section of all communities contains problems of that community and thus its important to add it there are plenty of social issues apart from racism which seems more of a deflection and excuse stop being so defensive. The street grooming cases happened in a few towns however London is going through an epidemic of knife crimes and gang violence associated with the youth of Caribbean background unless we delete social issues from Bangladeshi and Pakistani sections it must be added here for neutrality stop being so defensive allot of reliable sources suggest the prison population of Caribbean males is also extremely high compared to the population and the educational attainment us extremely low. 90tillinfinitydue (talk) 06:54, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- Also Afro Caribbean people form 1% of the population yet constitute 12% of the prison population this is beyond a shadow of a doubt a massive problem for the community hiding it or making excuses for it by using the race card is pointless. Not to mention the epidemic of knife and postcode wars violence. 90tillinfinitydue (talk) 06:56, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- Stats show that Pakistani men/Asians are disproportionately involved in Street grooming--it's a massive problem so hiding it by using the race card is pointless.. Also we don't know if Black Caribbeans consists of 12% of the prison population as there is no specific breakdown between Africans and Caribbeans. The only available breakdown is for youngsters in prison where the stats show it's actually Somalians who represent the largest group. Hence, that's probably why the crime is mentioned in the Black British section as that covers BOTH Africans and black Caribbeans Koppite1 (talk) 09:13, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

- Unfortunately Black people form a disproportionately large number of inmates in British prisons 12% while constituting only a small 2% of population according to government statistics. You tried your best to smear Asians with the grooming label which flopped now I think its time we deal with the glaring issue of a significant minority of a criminal element among the Black Caribbean community which according to many sources is reaching epidemic levels 74% of children awaiting trials for crimes are Black in London for example. You started this by attacking and generalising another ethnic group this is where people like me step in and remind you should never throw stones while living in a glass house. 90tillinfinitydue (talk) 10:35, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- Forget to mention that gang rapes are also a big issue among Black youth and has been used to intimidate and abuse vulnerable teenagers? And how can we ignore the problem of Yardie gangs who originated in Jamaica since British Bangladeshi have a section on this surely the much more violent and dangerous Yardies deserve a mention any thoughts? 90tillinfinitydue (talk) 10:46, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- Please not these are mere suggestions like ROC7 and Koppite1 proposed on many Asian related articles so it's only fair these suggestions apply for all groups since there is no consensus no group should be singled out for an attempt to smear them. 90tillinfinitydue (talk) 11:58, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- Asian people are also over represented in prisons, but there is zero mention of that on any of the Asian articles or the disproportionate street groomers among the Asian population. At least on the Black British article the topic has been approached. And as already explained, the largest black group in youth prisons are actually Somalians....Somalians, for the purposes of the British criminal justice system are classed as belonging to the black group.. As for the Yardies, let's put a section regarding the TRIADS on the Chinese section of Asian sections while we are at it. Or perhaps the Pakistani and Tamil drug smuggling gangs e.g. Gangs in the United Kingdom - Wikipedia
- I suggest you move on. Koppite1 (talk) 12:00, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- I am glad you realised that the what aboutism and propaganda you tried to spread lead to nothing next time just bare in mind pushing a narrative to make yourself feel better and smear others never works. Good day. P.S Chinese migrants have far fewer social issues compared to Caribbean community in

Low educational attainment
editIt seems that there is no mention of the very low gcse and higher level education issues [2] only 35.9% of African Caribbean youth get 5 Cs in their GCSE surely this stat has to be added because had this been Asian articles it would be all over it the double standards are obvious. 90tillinfinitydue (talk) 07:05, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- Try reading the article. Mention of this is already included Koppite1 (talk) 09:15, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

Windrush: Labour shortage or surplus
editBritish need for labour as an explanation for the Windrush immigration is described as a myth here. ––St.nerol (talk) 10:02, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- The (Wikipedia) article doesn't specify that labour shortages drove Windrush immigration though. This is what it currently says: "As a result of the losses during the war, the British government began to encourage mass immigration from mainland Europe to fill shortages in the labour market. Citizens from the former countries of the British Empire and Commonwealth also began to seek work in the UK". Cordless Larry (talk) 10:26, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- Oh, I see now that that's the wording after your edit. Cordless Larry (talk) 10:27, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- I've made some additions/clarifications based on a couple of reliable sources. Cordless Larry (talk) 10:40, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
