As Director of the Community Virtual Library, I am revising the outdated article on Libraries in Second Life. Using the sandbox to experiment, this revision may take some time. The dead links will be removed but all relevant citations and references will remain. Valibrarian (talk) 22:15, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
Article Name
editVycl1994 (talk · contribs) suggested in an edit summary that the title of this article might be more concise if it were "Libraries in virtual worlds". I think the point is a good one. Second Life is just one of many virtual worlds, and a proprietary one. On the other hand, I started watching this article primarily because it was spun out from the Second Life one that I watch. On balance though, I think the more concise name but with a link from the Second Life article (as now) would make sense. -- Sirfurboy (talk) 20:33, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
- My suggestion is based only on WP:Article title policy, as I know little about the article's subject. If this move were to be completed, the article's lede would become:
- Libraries in virtual worlds are part of an immersive 3D environment that can be used for entertainment and educational purposes. Due to increasing interest in digital services, some libraries and librarians have established virtual services in Second Life and other virtual worlds.
- Per the Manual of Style, wikilinks are rarely placed in the WP:First sentence where MOS:BOLD is in effect. Vycl1994 (talk) 15:51, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

I've just noticed that Libraries in Second Life exists, and suspect a WP:CFORK that should be merged by some editor more knowledgeable than me. Vycl1994 (talk) 23:45, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- Support Ack! Well spotted. I have put a watch on that page. I am afraid I have no knowledge about the merge process but would support a merge. -- Sirfurboy (talk) 00:09, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Support merge proposal as topics overlap, imv Atlantic306 (talk) 11:34, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
Articles now merged
editI took ownership of this merge and have now completed it. I believe I faithfully followed the merge instructions.
In undertaking the merge, I did (of course) merge content from the old page to the new one that had previously been reworked or deleted. Sorry about that, but it is better to be conservative in the merge process, I think. That does not preclude editors editing and deleting outdated material once more. I have already deleted an outdated list of SL libraries. I hope that is all okay with everyone. -- Sirfurboy (talk) 19:47, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Well done on the merge, Sirfurboy. I do agree with the second paragraph of your post above. The page title question remains open, though. Would you, Valibrarian, and others support the move described in #Article Name? Vycl1994 (talk) 00:10, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks, and yes, I support the name change. -- Sirfurboy (talk) 07:30, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
Yes thank you, I agree this name change is a move in the right direction. I am very new to editing articles and hope to learn more so I can help update this article. Valibrarian (talk) 17:13, 20 January 2020 (UTC) Valibrarian
