Bridger Walker
editBridger Walker was named WBC ‘Honorary Champion’ - I feel this should be mention in the main article. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/12142601/bridger-walker-dog-attack-wbc-honorary-champion/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.42.185.200 (talk)
- This article is a list for WBC world champions, not children that have been gifted a belt to cheer them up. I'm not sure if it's worth mentioning anywhere, it seems very trivial. – 2.O.Boxing 10:20, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
How many trivial WBC belts do you have? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.42.185.200 (talk) 10:20, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
Still, the weight class "Bridgerweight" is missing in this article. There, a small note on this should be possible. This kid was trivial enough to have a new weight class named after him. Seems to be some kind of important for the WBC. --FyodorWO (talk) 21:01, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- @FyodorWO: bridgerweight isn't listed here because there hasn't been any champions yet. And this isn't the place for little side notes on who the weight class was named after. That belongs in the bridgerweight article itself (which it is). – 2.O.Boxing 01:39, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

Page Name
editShould this not also be named in the form List of WBC world title holders? See List_of_heavyweight_boxing_champions. MLA 15:51, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
The Heavyweight title history was wrong. I added in Jimmy Ellis' title reign. 70.224.219.126 05:19, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
- Jimmy Ellis never held the WBC title. He was the WBA champ only. MKil 14:17, 6 February 2007 (UTC)MKil
Minor Edits
editI edited Jermain Taylor's name on the list of Middleweight Champions. I also updated the number of successful title defenses from 0 to 1 as Taylor defeated Bernard Hopkins in December 2005. Shenzhou 02:36, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
flagicons/nationalities and countries
editcan we have all tables conform to just one system of naming their nationalities for the sake of consistency? i will edit this unilaterally if no one objects--RebSkii 17:04, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Interim championship
editThe interim championships make numbering difficult, but I don't think Hasim Rahman should be listed as the 25th and 26th heavyweight champion. If the champion didn't change the number shouldn't.--SaskatchewanSenator 20:25, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
How many weight classes?
editThe first paragraph says "The WBC is one of the four major governing bodies in professional boxing, and certifies world champions in 10 different weight classes", and then the rest of the article lists champions in 17 weight classes. Is the first paragraph wrong? Are 7 of those lists fake? 62.216.5.216 (talk) 11:17, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
- The lead was wrong, I've corrected it. – 2.O.Boxing 11:58, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
Sources regarding the inaugural WBC champs
editCan anyone help in confirming about how the inaugural champs per weight class got their titles because some blogs that are found on google have conflicting results. For example, some say that the WBC awarded/recognized Sonny Liston as the heavyweight champ after WBC's inauguration while other sources say that he won the vacant WBC title after knocking out Patterson. Other champs with conflicting sources on how they got the WBC titles are (LHW) Harold Johnson, (W) Emile Griffith, (LW) Carlos Ortiz, (Superfeather) Gabriel Elorde, (BW) Eder Jofre, (Fly) Pone Kingpetch.
If for instance they were awarded after WBC's inauguration, it's better to also get an exact date rather than putting February 14 as the awarded date, which was the date of WBC's inauguration/first convention. Maybe we can find it on some mexican newspapers archives but I can't understand spanish. BlizzyBlizz (talk) 10:48, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
