The amazing time-traveling Matt Kemp

I completely forgot about the Mat Latos GA review, once I was going to complete it, someone else took over. Will do this one tonight (if not done by Sunday feel free to delete it). Glad to see a familiar name attempting good articles. Secret account 20:23, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Starting....
- Lead should be expanded further per WP:LEAD, add a sentence or two on his minor league career and his first few seasons. Done
- Nothing on his strengths and weaknesses or player profile like similar GAs articles like Ryan Braun has? For a player like Kemp that is important.
- "was ranked third in the nation at one point." Who Kemp or the team? Clarify
- What makes [1] a reliable source? Seems like a useless gossip site, replace or remove. Done
- Same with this. Done
- And this? Done
- Really? Done
- [2] is dead. Done
to be continued..
- fixed the references and tweaked the lead.. the sentence on his high school team clearly states that the team won the state title and was ranked third in the nation. will need a day or two to do the strengths and weaknesses section if that is required. Spanneraol (talk) 23:03, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- "After hitting just a single home run with just five doubles" The second just is redundant, remove, not to mention that his power numbers were low because of a lack of playing time (43 games compared to 122 the next season). The lack of home runs is worth mentioning, doubles not really. Done
- "five doubles" " 7 homers" be consistent with numbers under 10 per WP:MOS. Done
- "He also became the first Dodger and fifth major league player to hit four homers in his first 10 days with the team.[2]" Not mentioned in source unless I missed something. Done
- "He slammed 4 home runs" - tone, reword Done
- However, he made the fourth most outs in the base paths in the National League in 2007.[1] - Confused in meaning. Done
- "Going into the season, Kemp was expected to battle for one of the corner outfield positions, though his spot in right field was essentially guaranteed.[20]" How is someone expected to battle for a "guaranteed" spot? Done
- "in the same game that teammate, pitcher Brad Penny recorded his 1,000th career strikeout." - Off-topic trivia, remove. Done
- "That month also sparked Kemp's career high 19-game hitting streak," the next sentence also mentions the career-high, reword one of the two sentences (preferably the second) Done
- walk-off hit needs a wikilink for the non-baseball readers. Done
- "One big reason to why Kemp struggled was him hitting...." needs a proper source or be removed, as its going to speculation thus WP:OR. Done
- Nothing on the Ryan Braun - Matt Kemp MVP controversy? Done
- All pictures are suitable for use in Wikipedia.
- Almost done with finishing the review Secret account 17:54, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
My only major concern left is the playing style section, but considering that about half of our good article biographies on modern players don't got it, I don't see it as a must. I recommend one, especially if you want to advance the article to featured status, but I don't want that section from having good article status. I'll do a few minor copyedits. Good job. This trade may not happen
editJust like the Jimmy Rollins trade, this deal will need to be approved by the Commissioner of Baseball to be allowed to happen because a lot of money is involved. The Commissioner could stop it. Wait until he doesn't kill the deal before making any changes per WP:V and WP:CRYSTAL. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:21, 11 December 2014 (UTC)
- According to Ken Rosenthal, the Commish hadn't even been notified of the agreement as of 6:59 AM.[3] – Muboshgu (talk) 15:23, 11 December 2014 (UTC)
