slight change (correction) to the wording

edit

The first sentence of the "October 2" section -- ["October 1979#October 2, 1979 (Tuesday)"] -- seems to have a mistake in the final 12 words of the sentence ... the part right after where it says "Walt Disney Productions" [until the end of the sentence]. That "last 12 words" of that sentence:

seeking to stop the Sony and RCA corporations to stop selling VCRs

contains the locution << "to stop" >> in two places.

The above comments are based upon the "Latest revision as of 22:19, 16 July 2024" version of this article ... although they may also apply to some previous versions ('revisions') as well.

The sentence does not make sense while the locution "to stop" is present in both of those two places.

That sentence would make more sense if either

  1. the first instance of "to stop" were to be changed to (the infinitive) "to force" instead;
    or
  2. the second instance of "to stop" were to be changed to (the preposition) "from" instead.

I do not know which of these two "proposed solutions" should be chosen. Actually, I think either one of them would be better than keeping that sentence the way it is now. However, if you have any comments, then now (when a decision has not yet been made) might be a good time to 'reply' here.

You can still (feel welcome to) 'reply' here, 'after' a decision has been made (even once the article has been updated); but now might be a better time.
