MI5 involvement

edit

Claims that Ayres worked for MI5 around the web have all the appearance of being an urban myth created by this article. Ayres was interviewed on Front Row (BBC Radio 4) earlier this evening, and the claim formerly made here was cited. Ayres replied that she was only a lowly clerk, although the interviewer created unnecessary ambiguity by saying that if she had worked for MI5 Ayres would have to remain silent. Hardly "proof!" Given the secretive nature of that organisation, I wonder how we would "prove" that she had worked for MI5, whether as a "lowly clerk" or anything else. She doesn't appear to deny it. Meanwhile maybe something to confirm the fact that she is often said to have done so would satisfy the proprieties. Flapdragon (talk) 02:33, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
OK, but the article says she worked for MI6. I'm very suspicious, but I guess it's possible. We'd need a better source than "she doesn't appear to deny it". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.41.11.134 (talk) 23:48, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't know what makes you so suspicious, thousands of people work for such organisations and it doesn't make her James Bond! I doubt it's just an urban myth, but if so it's not one "created by this article". The idea that she worked for one of the security services (I wouldn't want to specify which and it's not that important which) is nothing new, and predates Wikipedia I think. Philip Cross's comment above appears to confirm it in some sense, so it's more than "doesn't deny it", but as I say, I think it would be impossible to prove, if one of those people comes along demanding watertight citations. But it should be possible to confirm that she is often said to have worked for some such organisation. Flapdragon (talk) 11:41, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Transexual?

edit

The article claims that Pam was born Stan, and has had a reassignment operation. But it also mentions her children. Something's got to be wrong here, but what? It's not mentioned on her own website: http://www.pamayres.com/biog.asp Could this be vandalism? -- Robertthebilling (talk) 22:15, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

It certainly could. Reverted. Flapdragon (talk) 02:35, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
It was changed again and I've changed it back. What should I do next? Robertthebilling (talk) 22:48, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Pam-Ayres-book-of-poems-for-Mums-and-Babies.jpg

edit

Image:Pam-Ayres-book-of-poems-for-Mums-and-Babies.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

'Plagarism'?

edit

I can't cite any definite reference, but about 15 years ago I read or heard an extremly bitter female humerous poet with a 'country bumpkin' accent claim that Pam Ayres stole her idea. Can anyone fill in the details?

Stole her idea to be extremely bitter ? That quality is utterly lacking in Ayres and her art. The plaint 'someone stole my idea' is typical of a small mind and talent. And ideas cannot stolen, only completed works. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:44B8:3102:BB00:F921:535C:7946:E2CC (talk) 07:55, 31 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
