Merge

edit

It was suggested in June of last year that House of Representatives (Egypt) be merged with Parliament of Egypt. I would like to express my support to this proposal as there are no indications (that I know of) Egypt will return to bicameralism any time soon. Charles Essie (talk) 18:25, 4 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Merge

edit

@David O. Johnson: we have still an article House of Representatives (Egypt). So currently, a part of this article is a duplicate of the article HoR. We could replace it by a recap. --Panam2014 (talk) 22:35, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I haven't seen that both articles have been merged. So, it is not a good idea to merge HoR into parliament. The solution is merging Parliament into HoR. So now, the parliament will be bicameral, so we should repell the merge. --Panam2014 (talk) 22:37, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

It's not quite bicameral yet. We all know what the referendum results will be, but let's wait until it's official. We can figure out how to handle the article once that happens. David O. Johnson (talk) 23:47, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
@David O. Johnson: and did you know when the reform would be effective? What does say the transitional provisions? Also, I think we should keep one infobox and merge the part about the parliament and the part about HoR. --Panam2014 (talk) 02:38, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Panam2014: I'm not sure when it takes effect. I would assume it goes into effect right away, but that's just a guess. The parliament will be bicameral, so I think it's best to give an overview on this article, then go into specifics on the HoR and the Senate pages. (Maybe let's just move the Shura Council article to Senate?) David O. Johnson (talk) 03:37, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
@David O. Johnson: I think the article Shura Council should be moved and we should talk about Senate from 1883. And for HoR, we should do the same. I support your proposal.--Panam2014 (talk) 03:40, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Charles Essie and David O. Johnson: we could do it. --Panam2014 (talk) 22:19, 23 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

One infobox and introduction

edit

@David O. Johnson: like to Parliament of Albania, we should have until 2020, only one infobox and only one introduction. --Panam2014 (talk) 14:49, 26 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Ahmed M Farrag: what do you think about it and about the section "Merge"? --Panam2014 (talk) 14:54, 26 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

About the merger

edit

It looks like the parliament of Egypt is set to become bicameral once again given the results of the new referendum. So, I guess the recent merger with the House of Representatives article should probably be reversed. Charles Essie (talk) 20:31, 30 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Ahmed M Farrag, Charles Essie, and David O. Johnson: I think we should wait 2020 to do it. --Panam2014 (talk) 16:55, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

If it exists on paper, I think it should be reflected on Wikipedia. --Ahmed M Farrag (talk) 17:01, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Ahmed. Even if it's not actually functioning yet, we still have plenty of sources to use. So to my understanding there would be three articles: Parliament of Egypt, House of Representatives and Senate. David O. Johnson (talk) 17:12, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
