Converted to Islam?
editThe article states that he converted to Islam, but in a recent New York Times article he describes himself as a Christian. Can this be checked? http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/28/magazine/theo-padnos-american-journalist-on-being-kidnapped-tortured-and-released-in-syria.html?&hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=mini-moth®ion=top-stories-below&WT.nav=top-stories-below KaJunl (talk) 22:38, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
- The issue appears to have been resolved. It is still possible that his religion could be discussed further in the article - not sure of importance. KaJunl (talk) 03:03, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
Conflicting statements by subject about release
editThe article says "A team led by editor David G. Bradley and the Padnos family contacted Ghanem Khalifa al-Kubaisi, head of Qatar State Security, who mediated for Curtis's release and according to what it told the Padnos family it was "on a humanitarian basis without the payment of money". In an interview with Tucker Carlson Curtis sticks to this story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-av5ZZsfzw
However, in this interview to Arab media Curtis states in detail how he was not released on humanitarian basis, but ransomed for tens of millions of Euros by the Qatari government, essentially using him to finance terrorism. https://global-watch-analysis.com/english-padnos-qatar-used-me-to-finance-al-qaeda/?lang=en
I think clarification is in order, both about him being ransomed and lying about it on national television to Tucker Carlson. OkleeHall232 (talk) 21:33, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
