John Gray's role

edit

According to this article, John Gray, along with "Raffalovitch as benefactor", planned to build the church while he was serving as curate at St Patricks. As far as I can see, this is not directly supported by the quoted citations.

According to a news story on the BBC, Gray and Raffalovitch conceived the idea of building the church while Gray was convalescing in Rome from a bout of pneumonia.[1] The BBC story cites Jerusha Hull MacCormack's book as its source.[2]

Does anyone know which of these versions is correct? (I don't have access to MacCormack's book to verify this.) Mike Marchmont (talk) 17:32, 27 December 2023 (UTC) Mike Marchmont (talk) 17:32, 27 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
