Hi, my name is Dmitriy. I was born in Zhdanov (Mariupol), USSR in 1985, but currently reside in Canada. My interests are in history (especially, modern history, Russian history and history of informational warfare), historiography and music (I play guitar and bass; performed live both for fun and profit).
In particular, I'm interested in the history of the Soviet 100th Guards Rifle Division, as among the thousands of soldiers who breached the Mannerheim Line, deflected the German offensive near Lake Balaton and took Vienna was my grandfather, commander of a 82mm mortar.
During the war, the division suffered 9218 casualties (2142 dead, 7076 wounded) - 5356 in Karelia (1203 dead, 4153 wounded) and 3862 in Europe (939 dead, 2923 wounded).
