Hi there
editHi mate, I've seen you round adding useful stuff to Bowie articles. I was responsible for getting most of the albums from 1967 to 1980 into a decent state but these days I generally just keep them on my watchlist and tweak formatting or revert vandalism. Great that you collected and kept those music mags, I still have a few myself that've proved useful on WP, such as the Dame's in-depth NME interview around the time of Scary Monsters and Elephant Man in 1980. Re. the latest addition to the 1967 album, appears the quote is an 'extended version' of one I already had in the Influences section. I was thinking perhaps we merge them, moving the full quote from its own section to Influences. WDYT? Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 01:27, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'm totally ok with the change you suggest. I'm embarrassed that I didn't notice you already had the quote in the Influences section - didn't mean to be repetitive. Feel free to chop up my changes - or even revert them if you feel they don't add anything. Thanks! 87Fan (talk) 01:31, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
Heathen
editHello, I have some questions on your editions in Heathen. Let's talk about it here. Thanks, NandO talk! 06:44, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Hi.
As you may or may not have seen, i`m semi retired from this wonderful project, mainly because the work of assessment its endless and unthankful, but if everyone was as you, i probably still would be around.
The articles are quite good, the only thing missing are more categories, by the way, the tool to add, modify or remove categories is awesome and wasn`t there when i was heavy editing; other than that, images are always good, reception section is a must in album articles, don`t know if the tours have reviews, if they do, then they MUST be in the article, and a music sample goes a LONG way to becoming a GA.
Anything else, you let me know, i still check my watchlist several times a day.
PS: I also watched Labyrinth and loved it, specially Sir... don`t remember but he rode a dog and wanted to play scrabble at the end. Zidane tribal (talk) 01:54, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback, I may take a stab at upgrading some of the C-class articles to B-class over time. You're thinking of Sir Didymus from Labyrinth btw! 87Fan (talk) 23:23, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

reffing a facebook post
editSaw your question in the edit summary. I don't know that there's any established way, but a normal web citation template ought to do it--just add the URL, date, and accessdate, with "David Bowie official Facebook page" or a similar phrase under "publisher". You might use a web archiver like WebCite to save it for future reference, too, since this is something that might be a dead link in a year. You can see the template at User:Khazar2/Useful. Hope this helps! -- Khazar2 (talk) 17:57, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

The article Stephen Nichols (dancer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non notable. Only a minor mention in single secondary source.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Keithbob • Talk • 20:02, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

editPlease do not delete or flag potential "spoilers" in Wikipedia articles, as you did in the article Dark Matter (TV series). It is generally expected that the subjects of Wikipedia articles will be covered in detail, and giving a section a title such as "Plot" or "Ending" is considered sufficient warning to the reader that the text will contain revelations about the narrative. Deleting such information makes the article less useful for a reader who is specifically trying to find out more about the subject. For more information, see Wikipedia's guidelines on spoilers. Thank you. Alex|The|Whovian? 10:06, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
Your mutilation of my re-vamped Religion and spirituality section (David Bowie)
edit1. You claim wp:or. The statement in the first para was supported by everything in the section, which is what wp:or requires, so wp:or has been adhered to.
2. You claim to be deleting lyrics, but you also deleted statements made in interviews.
3. The new section has already received approval.
4. Please do not just go ahead and mutilate a piece of work as you have without even discussing it in the relevant Talk section. If you choose to read that you will find that the very first quote (not lyric) which you deleted was noticed in an article found by a very highly reputable Wikipedian and highlighted by someone else again. Thank you. Boscaswell (talk) 18:34, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

editOn 21 February 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Time Will Crawl, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The Good Article Nominations Page Needs Your Help!
editHi there. You nominated an article for evaluation against the good article criteria some time ago, but I noticed you have yet to review an article yourself. Although it's not mandatory, it would be helpful if every user who creates a nomination also reviewed at least one other article, as this would help clear the massive backlog. Reviewing someone else's article can also help you in the long run: every article reviewed brings yours one position closer to the top of the nominations list! If you worked on the article you nominated, chances are you're already familiar with the six good article criteria. It really isn't hard to review, and may take an experienced editor only a few hours to complete. If you have the time and would like to help, please click here, take a moment to figure out which article you'd like to review, then click on its (start review) button. Thank you for reading, and if you need assistance with your review at any point, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page and I'll respond to you as soon as I can. Homeostasis07 (talk) |

List of highest-grossing concert tours
editCan you please take a look at List of highest-grossing concert tours request on talk page? I know that by consensus Michael Jackson's Immortal tour does not fit on this list but since the article is pretty much built on sources from Billboard and Pollstar and both those sources include it in their list, could we perhaps add a small footnote at the bottom of the page something like "Although not included in this article, Billboard and Pollstar list Cirque du Soleil's "Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour" in their list of Top 10 highest grossing tours of all time at $371,000,000." I think that would be sufficient to make the article more complete and not keep having further questions of why that is included in the sources but not the article. Here are the sources: https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6251218/michael-jackson-immortal-tour-eighth-best https://www.axs.com/top-10-highest-cash-grossing-concert-tours-34634 Appreciate your insight and thanks for your help! Thanks for creating "David Bowie Is" article
editHi - I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your work in creating the article David Bowie Is - I visited the exhibition in Chicago a few years ago (not long before his death) and was really fascinated by it. It had been on my to-do list for a while to start an article for it, but I had never gotten around to it, and so I was quite pleased when I saw you had taken the initiative to start one. Sound and Vision Space Oddity
editOkay, first, I am the person that has been changing the space oddity thing on Sound And Vision. The reason I have been changing it is because Bowie sang it multiple times after 1990. Once in 1997 for his birthday concert at MSG, however this one was a solo, without Gail. The second time was at Carnegie Hall in 2002, once again without Gail. The third and last time was in Denmark later that year, finally in a concert with Gail. That is where the lone time comes from, she may have only done it once, but Bowie did it more. Also made references to it in 2004 but only the first line.

- @1015elvis: Thank you for reaching out. I totally believe you. I think what would be best is to change the article appropriately - keeping both sets of information (played with a band only once, played by Bowie "alone" a few times). Would you like to make that change, or should I? Thanks! 87Fan (talk) 03:46, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

Hi 87Fan! I just wanted to let you know that on my quest to expand David Bowie's entire discography, I have (finally) reached Let's Dance. While I'm still not done with it, after I expand Tonight, I do plan on making some improvements to Never Let Me Down. I know you brought it to GA many years ago but I do think there are some things that can be added to it. Bowie
editIdk about you, but I really hope Pegg releases a new version of The Complete David Bowie one of these days. Would really appreciate his coverage of everything that's come out since 2016, especially with Toy now coming out finally. – zmbro (talk) 20:27, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Zmbro: I wonder if he's been waiting for the obvious stuff to drop (this final Bowie box, the Tin Machine box? "Blaze"?) before doing something like this - on one hand, maybe it's frustrating to have to re-publish every once in a while just for a few more songs, but on the other, folks like us will buy each new edition :) . 87Fan (talk) 15:56, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- That's what I'm assuming. I really hope he publishes another version, especially since quite a few things, i.e. Toy, "Mother", "Cosmic Dancer", etc., are now outdated, and websites really aren't the best for this type of info xP I'm also really wanting to know his opinion on other things like the 2017 Lodger mix and Never Let Me Down 2018. – zmbro (talk) 16:58, 30 September 2021 (UTC)

October 2024
editHi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into 2025 Major League Soccer season. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. jlwoodwa (talk) 02:29, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
