Question from Dodecathorpe (15:14, 19 October 2024)
editThe article Sultanpur Lodhi --Dodecathorpe (talk) 15:14, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, what about the article? I see that you are trying to improve it. Ca talk to me! 15:16, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. I hadn't used the ask mentor functionality from the Homepage before, so I thought it was just a topic header. The article appears to contain masses of information, but only has three sources. A quick check suggests a couple of sources for the remainder of the information:
- Medieval History: This matches https://kapurthala.gov.in/sultanpur-lodhi/, except for the ending & a bit near the beginning that I rewrote (as Triserif).
- Places matches https://kapurthala.gov.in/sultanpur-lodhi-places
- There are a couple more, but I can't recall at the moment. I'll add them in a reply as soon as I remember. Anyways, my question is: are these sources reliable? A check on the Wayback Machine suggests that the information has been there since the oldest save of the site, which is still less time than it's been on Wikipedia. Dodecathorpe (talk) 17:27, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Dodecathorpe Sorry for the late response. Since it is a official local government source, and it seems to be updated often, I will presume it is reliable for basic facts. However, I don't think it is the highest quality source since we don't have info on its author or the website's editorial practices. I recommend finding more scholarly sources in place of these sources. WP:RSN is a noticeboard where you can discuss further reliability inquiries. Ca talk to me! 15:00, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot! Dodecathorpe (talk) 13:30, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

Question from LindaLouise18 (11:22, 23 October 2024)
editI am having trouble editing. It says that I am blocked. What does that mean? --LindaLouise18 (talk) 11:22, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, if you can edit this page, you are not blocked. Some blocks on IP addresses even prevent logged-in users from editing. This is done to prevent abuse from other troublemakers who use that IP address. If this is a chronic problem and you can't find another IP address to edit under, see WP:IPBE. Invitation to participate in a research
editHello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

editOk, there's modesty and then there's excessive modesty. C'mon. -- asilvering (talk) 23:51, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, I guess it's time to update that. Two year earlier I had a WP:GOCE member give up on my article Charles Brenton Fisk because it was "out of their skill level". But my English have improved since then. :D Ca talk to me! 00:00, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ouch, haha. Well, I wouldn't have guessed! I suspect
my English have improved
may even be the first non-native-like error I've seen you make. (If that wasn't a joke, I'm so sorry for cursing you.) -- asilvering (talk) 00:10, 24 October 2024 (UTC)- sdfnlakjs; Ca talk to me! 07:01, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- I should clarify: I just thought it was ironic that I made a blunder as I commended myself for my English improvement. But no offense was taken! Ca talk to me! 04:31, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- That's how I read you, no worries. -- asilvering (talk) 11:18, 25 October 2024 (UTC)

editHello Ca, 25/1000 is 2.5%, not 0.025%. Also I think your admin election comment was past the discussion deadline and someone may remove it soon. starship.paint (talk / cont) 01:33, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I've fixed the error—I tend to make silly mistakes when I had not had a good night's sleep ;;

editHello Ca,
You seem to have voted twice at the Wikipedia:7,500,000th pool. You should remove one of your guesses. JIP | Talk 12:51, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

Upcoming expiry of your patroller right
editHi, this is an automated reminder as part of Global reminder bot to let you know that your permission "patroller" (New page reviewers) will expire on 00:00, 13 November 2024 (UTC). For most rights, you will need to renew at WP:PERM, unless you have been told otherwise when your right was approved. To opt out of user right expiry notifications, add yourself to m:Global reminder bot/Exclusion. Leaderbot (talk) 06:01, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from Onamondayiamfading (18:06, 7 November 2024)
edithow do i edit --Onamondayiamfading (talk) 18:06, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! I placed a list of helpful links in your talk page to get started on the basics of editing Wikipedia: User_talk:Onamondayiamfading. It may be a little disappointing to get these warning messages. I got some of those two as I started out as an editor. If you are confused, you can ask the editor who warned you for help or the WP:teahouse. Ca talk to me! 01:11, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- oopsie i didnt see ur reply. ty Onamondayiamfading (talk) 01:42, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

- ok take away the last part in caps i thought u dudnt answer my question Onamondayiamfading (talk) 01:43, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- You can edit articles topics that you are interested in. You may be interested in joining WP:wikiprojects. A WikiProject is a group of contributors who want to work together as a team to improve Wikipedia. On a side note, please do not write in all caps as it could be viewed as shouting, which is not very nice. Ca talk to me! 03:17, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- sorry and thank you :) Onamondayiamfading (talk) 04:13, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

editwhy are some things not able to edit? also sorry for "yelling" --Onamondayiamfading (talk) 04:14, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- It may be because the page is prevented from editing due to disruptive editing. See Wikipedia:Protection policy for more information. It is hard to say without knowing the page you are referring to. You can still make edit requests for other editors to review and make the edit for you. Ca talk to me! 04:19, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- ok thanks Onamondayiamfading (talk) 15:04, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
Undeletion
editHi - I undeleted the article per your request. For future reference, generally speaking I'd suggest that requests of that nature should be made at the talk page of the deleting admin, or at WP:REFUND, rather than on the talk page of a blocked account. Cheers Girth Summit (blether) 16:51, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks! I will take your advice into account next time. Ca talk to me! 17:23, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
