I'm truthfully sorry for abusing multiple accounts and I have learned from this block of not doing disruptive editing, abusing multiple accounts and not doing Vandalism. I using this and only account from now and on. I love Wikipedia and I miss editing pages and I know that this block has learned that I should use only one account and this is the only single account that I have editing from but I know that this block is not a punishment too. Proposed deletion of Mike Thornton (American football)

edit

The article Mike Thornton (American football) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. --Finngall talk 18:51, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ditto for all of the other articles you created about undrafted practice squad players. Also please note that per WP:NGRIDIRON, the notability standard for NFL players is that they need to have played in a regular-season game, so none of these guys really qualify for an article at this time unless they are considered notable by some other criterion, and as above, any such claim needs to be backed up by proper references. Let me know if you have further questions. Thanks for your understanding. --Finngall talk 19:04, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletions of football players

edit

Hi,

I've converted the two BLPPRODs mentioned above to regular PRODs. The articles were not eligible for deletion under the BLPPROD policy, but the subjects do not seem to meet the notability guidelines. In order to be considered notable on Wikipedia, a football player normally must have played in a regular season or post season game for a major professional league, or have received significant coverage in reliable sources beyond routine coverage (examples of routine coverage would be summaries of college games or the announcement that they signed with a team). Those two players do not seem to pass the guidelines. However, if in the future they make the regular season roster and play in a game, then it would be appropriate to create articles for them. Speedy deletion nomination of Thomas Sirk

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Thomas Sirk requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of Ross Scheuerman

edit

Hello ChuckNoll vs Vince Lombardi,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ross Scheuerman for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. TheLongTone (talk) 15:25, 13 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Cameron Stingily

edit

The article Cameron Stingily has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Football player not notable per WP:NGRIDIRON or WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Finngall talk 22:29, 14 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Draft templates inside "awards and honors" group

edit

When adding draft templates to pages, be sure to add them outside of the groupings labeled "championships, awards, and honors." Being picked by the Cardinals in the 1970 NFL draft would not be considered an award or honor. Lizard (talk) 01:12, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Lizard the Wizard: Hmmm. I typically do put those draft templates inside the "championships, awards, and honors" and "award and honors" groupings. That's how we have it on your magnum opus, Billy Cannon. Jweiss11 (talk) 00:12, 28 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
I had noticed. Maybe we should just re-label the groups? I've seen people even putting current starting QB navboxes inside them. Looking at other sports I see many different methods Bill Russell, Wayne Gretsky, Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan. Or do we consider being drafted an "honor"? Lizard (talk) 01:05, 28 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

ChuckNoll vs Vince Lombardi, thanks for your recent work stubbing out those Villanova football season articles. When you use Template:Cfb link, please leave out "football" from the team field, or the template will not function properly. Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 06:27, 2 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

directory of standings

edit

List of Division I FBS independents football standings (1869–1955) may be of interest and assistance to you. My callout is in context to changing Washington & Lee's name, where ideally our usage is consistent across each annual instance of the standings templates.

Keep up the good work in expanding these with the omitted teams. I'm sure you have your sources, but sports-reference may also be of assistance to you. Cheers, UW Dawgs (talk) 18:42, 12 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

I recall we had a discussion about these pre-division independent standings templates at WikiProject College football. The problem is that if we were to complete them, they may include several hundred teams in many years. Jweiss11 (talk) 21:48, 12 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

About Steelers-Patriots rivalry

@ChuckNoll vs Vince Lombardi: I'm a UCLA Bruins fan who lives in California who also is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I just want to let you know I created the article above about the Steelers-Patriots rivalry. Feel free to improve it if you can. Thanks! --UCLAgirl623 (Whats up!) 18:54, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

College Football Data Warehouse

edit

ChuckNoll, thanks for your continued efforts on the Villanova and Duquesne football articles. I see you have been adding references to the College Football Data Warehouse to most, if not all, of these articles. The College Football Data Warehouse is no longer active. Do you have these pages cached/saved in order to refer to them? Whatever the case, I don't think it makes sense to reference this website anymore since it is defunct. Autopatrolled granted

Hi ChuckNoll vs Vince Lombardi, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 11:39, 6 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Survey Invite

edit

I'm working on a study of political motivations and how they affect editing. I'd like to ask you to take a survey. The survey should take 5 minutes. Your survey responses will be kept private. Our project is documented at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_%2B_Politics.

Survey Link: http://uchicago.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_80J3UDCpLnKyWTH?Q_DL=eYcEJhpD4guKGZT_80J3UDCpLnKyWTH_MLRP_9EMLVA8nv9pSmtT&Q_CHL=gl

I am asking you to participate in this study because you are a frequent editor of pages on Wikipedia that are of political interest. We would like to learn about your experiences in dealing with editors of different political orientations.

Sincere thanks for your help! Porteclefs (talk) 20:56, 4 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

American football stubs

edit

Wikipedia guidelines were changed early last year to require all sports biographies to have at least one piece of WP:SIGCOV (not counting database entries). In recent months, there have been efforts to draftify en masse sport substubs that do not comply with this requirement. Accordingly, we have begun a campaign to improve American football biographies that could be targeted in a similar RfC. This list identifies some of the articles that are the most vulnerable based on the new guidelines. Several of the vulnerable articles are ones that you created between way back in 2015: Ralph Britt, Ernie Brown, Spark Clark, Andy Feichtinger, Lenny High, Dave Kalina, George Knight, Greg Lee, Ronald Stanley, and Walt Veach.

The list includes articles I created as well, and it is not intended as criticism of you or anyone else, as such stubs were permitted prior to the change in policy. Instead, the purpose is to encourage each of us to clean up these stubs so as to avoid draftification or deletion. I am hoping that you will revisit these articles to add the required SIGCOV.
