Welcome!

edit
Hello, CustardJack, Welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope you like working here and want to continue. If you need help on how to name new articles, look at Naming Conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the Manual of Style. If you need general help, look at Help and the FAQ, and if you can't find your answer there, check the Village pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions). There's still more help at the Tutorial and the Policy Library. Also, don't forget to visit the Community Portal — and if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my New-Users' Talk Page.
Additional tips:
Here are some extra tips to help you get around Wikipedia:
  • If you made any edits before you got an account, you might be interested in assigning those to your username.
  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills, try the Sandbox.
  • Click on the Edit button on a page, and look at how other editors did what they did.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Always sign comments on Talk pages, never sign Articles.
  • You might want to add yourself to the New User Log
  • If your first language isn't English, try Wikipedia:Contributing to articles outside your native language
Happy editing!

Thanks for pointing out my incorrect choice of word in Capital Punishment ("defendant" vs "convict"). It was late and I slipped up. Next time you notice something like that, feel free to change it yourself -- one of the mantras of Wikipedia is 'be bold, that is, go ahead and make changes you feel are necessary. Take care. UK election, Sund. South

That's what the BBC said — although it should be noted that it's a record for the constituency to longest consecutively return the first result, not for quickest return. Wally 21:09, 6 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

I see what you mean. the last vandalism was few days ago, so I've left a message explaining that the next vandalism will earn an immediate block. If you see anything, let me know. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 11:48, 13 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Cotswolds

edit

I asked the question about whether or not the image was notable (though I'm not the anonymous IP who deleted it). Just it occurred to me that this view is not particularly identified with the Cotswolds (or for that matter an open top car) I saw the same view lying on top of a narrowboat on the Llangollen Canal. CustardJack 14:52, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for your comment on my Talk page. Sorry, I wasn't implying that I thought you were the one that deleted the image. I put it back before I had read your comment (I wasn't happy about someone anonymous deleting it without any kind of discussion). The fact that an image could be used in another article is not necessarily a good reason for deleting it. You are more than welcome to use the image in Llangollen Canal, although the trees might be too blurry—the car I was in was travelling at 50mph when I took the photo! I do concede that the image is taken from a rather unusual point of view (i.e. straight up) so I am quite happy for it to be deleted if there is a consensus that it is a bit too "different" for comfort. --Etimbo | Talk 16:08, 16 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Apophallation

edit

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Apophallation, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Apophallation. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Speedy deletion of Servis

edit

A tag has been placed on Servis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. alex.muller (talkedits) 22:57, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Petrol interceptor

edit

Hi there! I do not know whether you are still around here anymore but i plan on working on your article about the petrol interceptors and hopefully making it slightly better or at least pulling it out of being a stub. I see you made some edits a few months ago so i hope you will get this message. Not many people are actually aware of what interceptors are or that they actually exist. I was wondering if you would consider helping me or even working together on this subject to improve it. Thanks Bailo26 21:40, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Only 11 years later! Thanks for updating the article. I had seen signs on the M25 about petrol interceptors but didn't know much about them hence I created the stub. CustardJack (talk) 11:25, 30 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
