editIf you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
- Provide a new username.
To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.
Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Unban

Request reason:I want to clarify that I am not being paid for my contributions and do not have any promotional motives. My goal is to contribute accurate and well-sourced information to Wikipedia. For example, I wanted to update the Elmstead article with 2021 census data, as much of the information currently relies on outdated statistics from 2011.
I propose changing my username to something more appropriate, like "Loxias987" (or another if this one isn’t suitable), and I will ensure that all my contributions follow Wikipedia’s guidelines moving forward. Thank you for your time and consideration.Administrators should consider discussing any unblock with the blocking administrator (see the blocking policy).
If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, please replace this template with the following:
{{unblock-un on hold | 1=blocking administrator | 2=Loxias987 | 3=I understand why my account was blocked and apologize for any misunderstanding. My previous username was inspired by a historic building from the area, as my intention was to write and expand pages about local history and historic buildings. I now realize that the username may have given the impression of being promotional or representing an organization, which was not my intention.

- @Cullen328: - how do you feel about a possible unblock? PhilKnight (talk) 15:38, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- PhilKnight, my concern is that the edits to date were quite promotional regarding Evington Court in particular and Elmstead in general. The editor says they
do not have any promotional motives
and yet the content to date has been promotional. I recommend that the editor read the Neutral point of view and explain what would be different about their editing in the future. Cullen328 (talk) 18:58, 17 November 2024 (UTC)- Thank you for your feedback. I understand now that some of my edits, particularly regarding Evington Court and Elmstead, may have come across as promotional. That was not my intention, and I see how the tone and focus of my edits could give that impression.
- Having reviewed Wikipedia’s Neutral point of view (NPOV) policy, I now recognize the importance of ensuring that content remains unbiased, factual, and supported by reliable sources. If unblocked, I will carefully follow these principles in all future edits. For example, I will avoid language that could be interpreted as promotional and will focus on providing balanced, well-cited information. In the case of Evington Court or other historic buildings, I will include verifiable details about their history, architecture, and significance without adding subjective or overly descriptive language.
- I would like to continue contributing to Wikipedia, particularly in areas such as local history and census updates, but I will do so with a more neutral and objective approach moving forward. I appreciate your consideration. EvingtonCourt (talk) 20:28, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Can you please say this again, but without ChatGPT's voice, please? If you keep using ChatGPT to edit Wikipedia you're going to keep writing promotional stuff we don't want. -- asilvering (talk) 03:04, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- With respect, I am not using ChatGPT or any AI to draft my edits or unblock requests. I take full responsibility for the tone and content of my previous contributions, and I understand now how some of it may have come across as promotional. That was my mistake, not a result of AI involvement.
- I’ve reviewed the Neutral point of view policy and understand the importance of keeping all content balanced and factual. If given the opportunity, my future edits will strictly follow these guidelines to avoid any further misunderstandings. I hope we can focus on addressing the issue constructively rather than making unfounded assumptions about how my responses are written. EvingtonCourt (talk) 08:06, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- Can you tell us more about the Honywood family and their contributions to the parish of Elmstead? -- asilvering (talk) 10:16, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- The Honywood family played a significant role in the history of Elmstead, particularly in relation to the parish. Evington Hall served as an important local residence, and the family’s contributions to the parish are evident in several ways. One of the most notable is the Honywood Chapel in St. James the Great Church, which contains numerous memorials dedicated to family members, reflecting their deep ties to the area. Sir Edward Honywood, 1st Baronet, was a prominent figure, recognized as the first baronet of Evington. His son, Sir William Honywood, extended the family’s influence further by serving in Parliament, showcasing their impact on both local and national levels.
- The family’s contributions to Elmstead highlight their historical importance. However, any discussion of their legacy should remain neutral and balanced, focusing on historical context rather than promotion. If given the chance, I would ensure that their story, along with others, is shared accurately, with proper citations and without bias. EvingtonCourt (talk) 12:52, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- @PhilKnight@Cullen328I just wanted to follow up to see if there’s any update on this, as I haven’t heard anything in the past 48 hours. Let me know if there’s any additional information needed from my side.
- Thanks in advance! Loxias987 (talk) 18:39, 20 November 2024 (UTC)

- PhilKnight, my concern is that the edits to date were quite promotional regarding Evington Court in particular and Elmstead in general. The editor says they
I will let PhilKnight make that decision. Cullen328 (talk) 19:12, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- I would oppose, personally. The editor's responses are indistinguishable from LLM use, which means the non-npov editing will continue. -- asilvering (talk) 21:16, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- I won't unblock if asilvering objects. PhilKnight (talk) 22:05, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- I would like to respectfully address the concerns raised against me. With the utmost respect for the community and its principles, I must point out that the claims made are speculative and lack a factual basis.
- The suggestion that my actions or contributions might lead to future issues is predicated on assumptions about potential behavior rather than verifiable evidence. Such an approach is inconsistent with Wikipedia's foundational principles of factual accuracy and neutrality. Speculating about hypothetical scenarios without substantive proof undermines the community’s mission to uphold unbiased and evidence-based decision-making.
- Additionally, the claim that my responses are "indistinguishable from LLM use" is subjective and does not constitute evidence of any misconduct. Such assertions seem to arise from personal interpretation and may reflect bias, particularly given that they originate from an editor who previously displayed a defensive stance when confronted about making unfounded assumptions. Loxias987 (talk) 23:53, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, wikipedia is very concerned with factual accuracy. It is indeed one of our foundational principles, though we call those the five pillars. Can you spot the factual error in your LLM-generated answer about the Honywood family in Elmstead? -- asilvering (talk) 02:08, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- This reply also seems to be AI generated. I lean towards opposing as well. They clearly do not understand why LLM use is problematic in this context. --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 02:28, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- I won't unblock if asilvering objects. PhilKnight (talk) 22:05, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- I agree that this request should be declined. Loxias, if you want to be unblocked, you need to actually read the guidelines that have been discussed here and write to us in your own voice, rather than relay the responses of a computer program. If you continue to post denials that you are using LLMs using LLM-generated text, I will revoke your talk-page access and you will need to pursue an unblock request via UTRS. voorts (talk/contributions) 03:18, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
