editOn the main page "Recent Deaths," you deleted content on the late Nava Semel relevant to the subject and backed by a citation, and gave no reason in your edit summary. I'm reverting your edit. editHello, I'm Oshwah. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Anna Campori, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:59, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Arthur Davidson (politician). This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 21:00, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

editHello, I'm DerbyCountyinNZ. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to List of oldest living state leaders have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk. Thanks. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 10:28, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
Your recent editing history at List of oldest living state leaders shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Deaths in 2018, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page MP (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Dead footballers/football players
editGenerally speaking,a "football player" plays gridiron football and a "footballer" plays association football, though someone who plays and manages association football is called a "football player and manager". Australians may play either Australian rules football or association football and a link to the former sport is used if that's what they played. For Canadians and even USAmericans I favor the first-sentence distinction as sufficient but others call association football "soccer" just for them even though it's not used for other countries' people playing the same sport. Request for help
editHello,
I noticed that you sometimes edit from the mobile site, and I was hoping that you could help me. The mw:Editing team has posted some ideas about improving the editing experience on the mobile site at mw:Visual-based mobile editing/Ideas/October 2018. Could you look through that and tell them which ideas you like best (or least)? It's really helpful for them to hear from experienced editors who are familiar with the problems. Did you try this, in case it happens again?— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 22:12, 22 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi. Sorry to revert your basic good work at Deaths in 2019, but I have been mainly led by the person's Wikipedia article (and its edit history rejecting an obit), plus general internet search results, in deciding to do so. His own personal website [ http://www.morganwoodward.com/ ] does not yet acknowledge his passing either. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 15:36, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
Cricketer versus cricket player
editFor your information, cricket is NOT an American game, and its participants are called cricketers (outside North America), e.g. refer to the August 21 entry for Lawrence Reade, and not cricket players. For that reason, your reversion of my earlier edit was unwarranted and not helpful (August 22 entry for Peter Chingoka). Your football analogies are also not relevant here. Editrite! (talk) 22:15, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- Cricketer and administrator. Administrator of what? --Folengo (talk) 18:52, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
Although (cricket) administrator is obviously implied, if his playing background was cricket, the word cricket could be added for the pedants. That's how his article starts. Someone with only cricket experience would hardly be a football administrator, for example! 203.196.41.161 (talk) 22:07, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

editI try my best and endeavor to learn from my errors. Kindly explain why John Giorno's Dial-A-Poem https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dial-A-Poem is not considered one of his notable achievements? Did I format it incorrectly? Also, metastatic breast cancer is significantly different than just breast cancer because it has spread to other parts of the body. In that regard, it is no longer merely "breast cancer". https://www.cancersupportcommunity.org/blog/2014/10/recap-4-things-you-should-know-about-metastic I welcome corrections to my entries, and thank you for your strict attention to detail. Sergei Slonimsky
editHello Folengo. Please remember to use descriptive edit summaries when you make changes to articles. Descriptive edit summaries help other editors to understand what changes you are making and why. This is especially important when you are undoing someone else's work. Leaving edit summaries like the ones in these edits is not helpful and can lead to unnecessary disputes. Thanks, --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 19:37, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
- User needs to be advised. Some incorrect things have been readded three times at least. That's disruptive editing. --Folengo (talk) 20:06, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
You changed my edit of Sergei Slonimsky from "film scorer" back to "soundtrack composer". Your comment was "Film scorer? What is it, a cinematographic footballer?" That's truly funny. No, what a film scorer does is explained in detail in Wikipedia's article on film scoring (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_score). You see, "score" has different meanings. One is points in a sporting event (like football) and another is the music of a film (aka the film's score). I don't believe anyone composes a soundtrack. I think the soundtrack is what results when an individual composes a score. Genarians (talk) 21:12, 9 February 2020 (UTC)

If you have a source that verifies a contested claim, SIMPLY USE IT
editShouting out callbacks to previous references to it in edit summaries is ridiculously unclear and indirect. If you'd have fixed the citation the first time, we wouldn't be here. For God's sake, I won't use the Iranian source there! It has a ridicolously long url, and is not in English. I reported it in the edit summary and that usually suffices. Since lot of people are not happy with this I'll link it. --Folengo (talk) 10:31, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you. Plenty of sources aren't in English there. As long as they back a claim, they're more welcome than not. InedibleHulk (talk) 10:48, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Anyway Google Translate is wrong. How does anyone "test positive for coronary disease?". Definitely COVI, many underlying issues, but that's it. --Folengo (talk) 10:59, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

editThank you for trimming my entry to the standard for as you did here. However edit summaries like "Hear me, man: we do not report every award on this page. I do not recall ever having added things other than "Nobel Prizes and a few others" before and was unaware of what others were considered appropriate to add. editPlease stop your disruptive editing. Wikipedia aims to provide a safe environment for its collaborators, and harassing other users, as you did on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of longest-living United States senators, potentially compromises that safe environment. If you continue to harass other editors, you may be blocked from editing. Sandstein 11:26, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
To be clearer: Your statement "There's the work of thousands behind these lists and they are being unrespectfully deleted for dubious thick-headed interpretation of "policies". Obviously this worsens the quality and usefulness of Wikipedia, but who cares until there are "policies". Bureaucrats destroy everything they find" is an unacceptable personal attack on the nominator, Pburka, and on others who do not share your view about the merits of including the content at issue in Wikipedia. Such conduct is prohibited, see WP:NPA and WP:CIVIL, and I will block you from editing if I see it repeated. In addition, I have not taken your opinion into account in closing the discussion. Please try to use edit summaries as much as possible!
editHello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! --PerpetuityGrat (talk) 20:32, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

The "death announced" issue at Deaths in 2023
editWhat I have noticed for a very long time is that some editors spot something salient to the death date on Facebook, Twitter or various other low-grade sources, and introduce their findings into the page by removing the "death announced" tag. They also deem it appropriate to include as little as possible by way of explanation in the edit summary, if anything at all. There seems to be an element of OCD at play, in that the editors invariably appear to need a closure of that particular issue as soon as is possible. Personally I prefer to wait - a properly-sourced announcement is as good as a cast-iron dated one, in my mind. I do understand your frustration, but would think that any accusation of vandalism would not hold up if taken to extreme, as the misguided edits are still edits in good faith. Ref (chew)(do) 18:35, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- So I immediately go back to the Deaths in 2023 page and find that the recently-highlighted editor has now done the correct thing. Ref (chew)(do) 18:38, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
Your comment on RD 2023
edit"That's a reliable Italian source. Stop vandalizing." This is not source that I am familiar with. If there was Repubblica link, it would be other case. And while repubblica googles, the problem is that there are as of now no reliable english sources at all, or in other languages. And considering headlines with him listed as Star wars actor, which technically he isn't, and he is more famous for other roles, say Divergent or G.I.Joe, I had doubts about other sources. You shouldn't say I am vandalising. Kirill C1 (talk) 16:52, 22 May 2023 (UTC)

Silvio Berlusconi/Deaths in 2023
editHi. Why did you revert my edit for Silvio Berlusconi in Deaths in 2023? No, just to say "no" is not an explanation As it stands now, you get the impression that he was prime minister for the entire time between 1994-2013. I think it's better to list which years he was prime minister and then list the years he was MP and MEP. DrKilleMoff (talk) 20:14, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
- There's a limit of three time ranges for each entry, which was imposed by consensus after the death of Virbhadra Singh.--Folengo (talk) 07:52, 13 June 2023 (UTC)

Incorrect edit
editThis edit is wrong. The source doesn't say anywhere Serge Laprade had prostate cancer let alone that he died from it. The source says his husband Daniel Arsenault had prostate cancer and ironically healed from it the same day that Laprade died from a returning cancer whose type wasn't specified.76.64.176.181 (talk) 03:05, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

Death on 20 of May
editHello,
Could you add this person who passed away on May 20, 2024? https://ar.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D9%86%D8%B0%D9%8A%D8%B1_%D8%B1%D8%B4%D9%8A%D8%AF 2A01:9700:1301:9E00:5187:C0A0:65C:899D (talk) 20:07, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
Deaths in 2024 "spamming"
editHi. Rather than communicate with him by way of edit summary, I thought I would leave a message on the talk page of the editor concerned. It seems he is fairly new at this, judging by the messages and warnings already left on his talk page, so I'm trying to appeal to his common sense instead rather than bite him. Thanks. Kfir Tsafrir
editHello, could you give a linguistic and spelling review to this article Kfir Tsafrir that looks in incomprehensible English? Please. Alon9393 (talk) 17:14, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
Goehr
editAlexander Goehr in Deaths in 2024: While I agree that some professorship even at one of the leading universities of the world doesn't make you notable, Goehr was so influential for a generation of composers that I think it should show somehow. It has a lasting impact, while the operas mentioned are rarely performed, but sadly the only compositions with an article (so far). Any idea? -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:44, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
- The fact is being an academic does not make you authomatically notable. Music teacher would be fine I think.--Folengo (talk) 14:13, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, English is not my first language. Music teacher sounds to me like someone giving private lessons, - no hint at one of the most important chairs in English music. - I didn't say academic, - I'd say academic teacher. I also don't know if in this case of extremely high influence on the next generation we could find a different way, for example a link to the list of students. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:50, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
