Blocking User:Johnhamilton4

Could you please consider making it an indefinite block? Johnhamilton4 (talkcontribslogsblock userblock log) made one vandalism in main space and since then has been vandalizing user pages and WP:CVU in spite of warnings. --Dgies 18:21, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Seyi George Olofinjana

Hi,

You've recently given me a "last warning" for adding some nicknames for the Wolves player, Seyi George Olofinjana. These nicknames are all ones that have been widely used on one of the most popular internet forums concerning Wolves, www.molineuxmix.co.uk.

If you don't agree with them being put on there, fine, but I don't think it's really fair to "warn" me for posting nicknames that are in wide use amongst Wolves fans. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.69.50.113 (talk) 00:03, 12 December 2006 (UTC).

Concordia Newsletter

  NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

Help out now!

  • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
  • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
  • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
  • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
  • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

Decision Making

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

Art manifesto

As you've placed a cleanup tag, perhaps you could put on the article talk page an outline of the points you think need addressing. Thanks. Tyrenius 10:32, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Hey Husond, Tyrenius's talk page is on my watchlist and I've been keeping an eye on it for him while he's only semi-active. Anyway, I noticed your comment there. You said, "Due to the time limit for reviewing articles on VP2..." and I was just wondering what that means? Does VP2 only let you look at articles for a limited amount of time? What happens if you exceed it? I'm sorry to be a pain (and for eavesdropping), but I've never used it myself and your comment made me very curious. Cheers, Sarah Ewart 15:04, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Poll: "Ryūkyū" instead of "Ryukyu"

Hello Tariqabjotu, I'd like to once again request your expertise in move discussions to give me a second opinion on this issue. In this controversial poll proposed by user Endroit, the result seems to have been "no consensus" (at least I would have closed it as "no consensus" if I hadn't participated in it). Nonetheless, user Endroit himself decided to close the poll as "oppose", which is actually the position he defended throughout the poll. Was this a proper procedure? It looked very unorthodox to me and I contacted him asking for the poll to be reopened until an outside admin close it. Could you please give me your frank opinion about this situation? Sorry for the trouble. Thank you. Best regards,--Húsönd 15:22, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

There is no set manner to close a move poll. Normally, when the poll results in over 60% supporting, I say support. For 40-60%, I say no consensus and for less than 40%, I say no move. However, the latter two don't really have much of a difference. Regardless, it probably would not have been a good idea for Endroit to close the poll in his favor, but he did make the correct decision. Someone else asked me about the poll conclusion, and I will take care of that. -- tariqabjotu 16:05, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Being an admin coach?

Hi Husond. Would you like a new admin coaching student? If so, I would match you with User:Wikipediarules2221. Please let me know if this is acceptable. Thanks! --Fang Aili talk 20:15, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for contacting me but unfortunately I will have to politely decline. I have a personal objection to this user's username, as I stated on his editor review (and which the user did not comment about). In fact, I believe that the username might even go at odds with WP:USERNAME, depending on interpretation of the policy regarding usernames referring Wikipedia terms. Additionally, this user currently has a very low flux of contributions to Wikipedia, this situation would have to change before I could consider coaching. Once again thank you for contacting me, feel free to suggest further users. Best regards.--Húsönd 21:04, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
No problem. I'll find you another candidate soon. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 21:09, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

RE: Your RfA

Your huge confidence in my abilities truly humbles me Husond. As long as you agree that we give it some time, seeing as Seadog approached me yesterday about the matter, I am receptive to accepting a nomination by February as you have suggested now and in the past. RE: RFA

Thank you so much for the offer, it's a real boost to see that other editors have confidence in me. To this point no one else has nominated me or offered to nominate me and I'm humbled by your offer. I've been pondering an RFA for a while now and if you feel that I stand a decent chance, I'd be honoured to have you as a nominator.Canadian-Bacon 00:30, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

As far as timing goes, I'm not in any particular rush, whenever it's conveniant for you, I don't want you to have to rush something together if you don't have spare time. If tonight or the next few days are good for you than that works for me. Thanks again for the offer. Canadian-Bacon 00:44, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks a lot, I'll probably put it up after I fill it all in, thanks again. Canadian-Bacon 00:52, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

A block?

Hi,

I had requested that User:131.109.42.2 be blocked a few minutes ago on the administrator's intervention against vandalism board, yet the administrator who reviewed the case did not consider their vandalism to be "block-worthy". If you could take a look at the talk page of this user, at User_talk:131.109.42.2, you could see how much vandalism this person has caused and how much effort had been put into removing their vandalism. If you consider it to be enough proof, could you consider blocking him/her? Thanks, lovelaughterlife♥talk? 17:53, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you! I'll keep that in mind for the future. --lovelaughterlife♥talk? 18:32, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism not evident

Regarding this comment [1]. Please have a look at the last edit and the diff. [2] A claim is made to the effect that the individual is correcting vandalism, but if you start scrolling down you see numerous spelling errors introduced by the editor. For instance changing "while" as a mid sentence word to "While", changing Aquarius to Agarius, Taurus to Taures, Barbara to Barbra, Maximus to Mazimus, Gina to Ginia, changes has to is (complete grammatical nonsense), Pleasantview to Pleasnatview, probably to problably, etc etc. It goes on throughout the whole article. IP has previously used same edit summary to vandalize in the past [3]. where he makes subtle changes and removals. Instead of correct "His wife, Vernon, she is quite most of the time." to read with "quiet" he changes she is to he, which again doesn't make grammatical sense.--Crossmr 20:57, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you. At first I wasn't sure what he was referring to as I'd checked the previous IPs changes and not seen an issue with them. Only when I scrolled down did I realize what he was doing. Perhaps you could take a look at this [4] as the editor is still going about picking at me and had made another edit to my talk page just as you were. It says quick at the top, but I'll be honest and say I've never seen anything quick about it:)--Crossmr 21:10, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
I'd already given him an NPA, he's actually now editing as an IP (I updated the entry on PAIN) and continuing the insults. Samir has removed the comments he made on AN and AN/I--Crossmr 21:22, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Cheers thanks!--Crossmr 21:26, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

I believe Jake b (talk · contribs) has returned as IP again to harass me. See the last comment by the ip here [5]. Thats the same terminology he was using before.--Crossmr 23:25, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Your Comment on my Talk page

It is improper for Crossmr to remove people's comments on Discussion pages because he does not like them. That is not a personal attack, it is an observation, which as it happens, is true. Jake b 23:23, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

User talk pages

Hi Husond. I personally don't really mind if people remove warnings from user talk pages as they remain in the page history. Others think differently, though. I'd just let this situation de-escalate. Thanks -- Samir धर्म 08:25, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Re. Comments on my Talk Page

Thanks for your message. No I didn't write the comment that you mentioned on my talk page. I originally wrote a message warning the user about some vandalism he'd done (I actually used the wrong template I think). Seems the user didn't like my comment and felt like reverting it. Xanucia 03:08, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

LoPbN rem you did

Thanks for all your work, & in particular your recent entry removal on LoPbN. In particular, mentioning the name removed was excellent. Lk'g to the relevant article (+2 keystrokes) is a great addition since it provides pop-up-tools users a very nice route to the deleted article's what-lks-here (and other users a decently handy one), and thus to the AfD page that justified the removal. While a lk to the AfD page is IMO too much work for too little benefit, have you considered a slightly more informative summary like

rem del'd NNY

which rules out your believing the entry was misfiled, an (IMO mistaken) belief that entries for red-lk'd articles or duplicate entries on LoPbN are bad, and whatever. (Note my distinction between removing the entry, and deletion of the article -- tho i'm not sure how many editors pay attention to it.) In any case, thanks.

Your protection of the Continuation War article

I'd like to ask you (as the enforcer of the protection) to move the disputed section of the article to the talk page, as the constant re-introduction of that highly dubious section by one or several anon/new users was the reason for the semi-protection request. --Illythr 22:08, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, the disputed text is the whole chapter, as seen by this [6]. As seen from the current talk page, it has been already discussed much[7] with very little success, as the changes he made (See f.ex. at the end of [8]) has been grammatical and not resolved raised questions about factual correctness or POV-pushing. --Whiskey 23:36, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, after five days of heated debate, still no consensus in sight. Would you accept the daunting task of reviewing the resulting walls of text and passing a judgement? Or, at least, make further suggestions to help settle the conflict? --Illythr 23:41, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Oh, and by the way, merry Christmas! :-) --Illythr 23:56, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Protecting the Continuation War information

Thank you kindly, Husond, for allowing the facts to speak for themselves, and for keeping the contested ending in the Continuation War article intact, and for protecting the page.

The information in question is nothing more than widely accepted facts. The offered details are easily verifiable. I have the feeling that you're quite familiar with the topic.

If a blooper or an error would be pointed out, naturally that information must be corrected. However, despite of several pleas and requests for the couple of reverting Wikipedia users to point out anything particular that they'd like to change, supported by appropriate reasoning and related facts/sources, no false information has been brought up (about the ending part).

The related conversation can be seen on the article's talk page.

As you may notice, the entire Continuation War article could - perhaps - be in somewhat more packed up form, and improvements can be made.

The ending, Contentious history views, reflects the important facts in a compiled form, and brings related statements - including direct quotes - from the key figures, the people in charge on both sides of the border, including several presidents and top military leaders of USSR, Russia and Finland.

The Contentious history views also offers widely accepted reasoning and results, with back up information that is easily accessible in the internet and elsewhere (more detailed source information can be added for support).

Thus, as this information factually sides with the main stream of international history interpreting, the segment would - perhaps - deserve a better headline. Any suggestions are very welcome.

As the Continuation war page is further edited and cleaned, it is possible - of course - that the facts in question can be - for the most part - included and worked into the main texts of the article.

However, until that time, the ending is appropriately relevant, as currently the preceding Conclusion' segment of the page opens up with the following statement, which simply does not match the views of experts on the field - historians, researchers, military analysts, etc.:

"In retrospect the Continuation War can be seen as the result of a series of political miscalculations by the Finnish leadership in which Finland's martial abilities clearly outshone its diplomatic skills."

Hudson, in protecting the information in question you are a hero for those who are trying to make available for Wikipedia users the most relevant - easily verifiable and true - key facts in an internationally important topic.

I'd ask someone to send you a Barnsatar or a medal for your highly valuable help in this matter, but I'm afraid I don't know how. Could someone please do that, at a right moment! Merry Christmas - and - thanks again!

Your protection of the Gheorghe Funar article

Hi Husond, I have seen that you protected a wrong version of the Gheorghe Funar article. On the discussion page Talk:Gheorghe Funar it was fairly well explained the motivation for the version I wrote and there was another user in total agreement with me. It is just [User:Khoikhoi|Khoi]] that does not like my version for some reasons I cannot understand and he cannot explain. Please have a look for yourself on the discussion page. I would appreciate if you could protect the version that was more or less agreed on the discussion page, and this is the one from 21:23, 19 December 2006, by myself. Merry Christmas! Alexrap 13:45, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi Husond. I see that on Gheorghe Funar page a user (khoikhoi) involved into disputes on this article asked you to permanent protect that page. The specified user reverted more edits there without explanation and even if the other users involved into the disputed sentence doesn't agree with you, you choosed to keep that version permanently, even you hadnt any clue whats about there. The decision to protect that page was took only because a involved user asked you "Ah. :-) Can you please protect Gheorghe Funar?". And his version of the page was accepted. Are you proceeded according to wikipedia rules? --Roamataa 09:33, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
