Notable Roadgeeks
editThe list is reinstated, according to the policy referred to: "1. Lists or repositories of loosely associated topics such as (but not limited to) quotations, aphorisms, or persons (real or fictional). If you want to enter lists of quotations, put them into our sister project Wikiquote. Of course, there is nothing wrong with having lists if their entries are famous because they are associated with or significantly contribute to the list topic (for example, Nixon's Enemies List). Wikipedia also includes reference tables and tabular information for quick reference. Merged groups of small articles based on a core topic are certainly permitted. (See Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists#Appropriate topics for lists for clarification.)" —Preceding unsigned comment added by N9jig (talk • contribs) 11:53, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Re:So where we stand
editSorry I was not on Wikipedia much this week. My home computer was having problems and had to be taken in to get fixed. I have it back now so I hope to become more involved and hopefully plan to start my next article soon. ---Dough4872 04:02, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- We'll get this done as soon as we can. There is no fixed deadline. I wish I could do more work but I had computer problems and also have a lot of schoolwork. ---Dough4872 04:06, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- Trust me, I would like to get this off my mind too. However, there are still quite a few articles on the list and some of them are the longest roads in NJ, like 9, NJTP, and GSP. Hopefully we can get it done before my spring semester begins in the later part of January. That would be a good target as I would have extra time during winter break to work on the longest articles. ---Dough4872 04:35, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- I start a little before then. ---Dough4872 04:42, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

- Thanks - despite UPBSP, the plan is to work mostly on the 20 must see PA state parks. PA 44 would be fun to work on too. So much to do, so little time. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:32, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- It is of course 21 (Colton Point and Leonard Harrison are counted as one), but the list is here. UPBSP is not on it, but it is lovely. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:40, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- I just write articles, DCNR made the list. We figured it might be a doable featured topic (11 FAs out of 21, 10 GAs). Tobyhanna seems like it could be FA too someday (heck if UPBSP can be FA, almost anything can). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:31, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks - Dincher had also pointed those out to me and they are great - thank dougtone for us, please. I am going to finish uploading my own Ricketts Glen pictures and then go through the ones on Flickr and supplement them. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 14:38, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Re:Yay, progress!
editThanks. I will try to start US 46 next week. However, I do need to bring something to attention concerning one of your pictures. In NJ 122, the picture you uploaded is nowhere near 122 but is along US 22 in Union. Your Flickr set has a correct image of a 122 sign that would be better instead. It appears you accidentally uploaded the wrong image as they were next to each other. ---Dough4872 00:35, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

re: Threat
editI strongly advice you not to make threats like you did in this edit. I don't know or care what your history with TonyTheTiger is, but saying you saying you'll "make problems" if he doesn't leave you alone (on a 3rd parties talk page I might add) is not acceptable regardless.
Thank you, ThaddeusB (talk) 01:42, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- For what its worth, I think your assessment of the situation is more or less accurate. I think it is often better to just let things go than argue about them even when you are right. (And I also agree it is a petty matter to argue about in the first place. I personally would never complain about what credits someone choose to give themselves.)
- I hope you are able to cheer up soon. --ThaddeusB (talk) 02:22, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Waterfalls, waterfalls, waterfalls!
editFeeling wikistress? Wish you could have a vacation someplace with two dozen waterfalls? Well the next best thing is here!
If you want to, please come look at pictures of waterfalls and pick which ones you like best. You'll be helping make a better article too.

Re:Rubbin it in.
editI found the error using Google Street View. CR 676 is Sutton Lane not Suttons Lane. Apparently, the CR 676 article is wrong too as it says Suttons Lane. ---Dough4872 23:26, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- However, I also noticed little street signs that say "Suttons Lane", with the NJ 27 sign being the only saying "Sutton Lane". ---Dough4872 23:42, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- I do not know which one it is then, the rest appear correct. ---Dough4872 00:10, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- My bad! I never thought the spelling was wrong. ---Dough4872 00:16, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, 25 will be challenging since it needs to be mostly historical. By the way, I had done 94 this past week and have also added Major intersections tables to US 46 and US 130, two articles I hope to work on soon. ---Dough4872 00:27, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Collaboration
editThe two projects you mention sound to me like really fun things to work on. However, I'm buried in other projects and lots of reviewing, and I don't want to cut back on either. What I'd be glad to do is to review either or both and to make suggestions. To that extent I can collaborate, but I can't do the research, writing, revising, photography, maps, and all the other things that are sure to come up. Please let me know if this kind of limited help would be of use. Finetooth (talk) 16:43, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Images
editHere are some images I think would be appropriate, choosing 3 for Interstates, toll roads, US highways, and state routes:
- Voting no on I-195 off the bat. Image is way too dark.Mitch32(A fortune in fabulous articles can be yours!) 15:26, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- Voting no on NJ 15. I took this picture and its not really a best work.Mitch32(A fortune in fabulous articles can be yours!) 15:26, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
---Dough4872 05:25, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
Here are two alternate images then:
---Dough4872 15:53, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
I-76 is too blurry and dark. NJ 47 and US 322 are too bland in terms of detail. the Vietnam sign will be useful if you can find a brighter picture. I-287, the new I-195, NJ 35, NJ 17, the Turnpike (probably better if we have a 15X pic), US 46 those can do better. Keep looking though.Mitch32(A fortune in fabulous articles can be yours!) 15:59, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- What are you exactly looking for in a good image? ---Dough4872 17:06, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- Pictures that best describe the highway system in New Jersey.Mitch32(A fortune in fabulous articles can be yours!) 17:20, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- What is the best way to show New Jersey's highways? I tried selecting picutres of different types of roads (freeways, arterials, two-lane roads) from across the state. By the way, I've seen you added sone pictures to the state highway list article. ---Dough4872 17:27, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hard to say. I think we should choose when we know where they go.Mitch32(A fortune in fabulous articles can be yours!) 17:30, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Valued pictures and ITN in the WikiCup
editHi. I am contacting you on behalf of the WikiCup judges because you were involved in our previous points polling. Though most of the polls are now closed, we have restarted polls relating to the points value for both valued pictures and in the news entries. You are welcome to submit your votes here; the polls will be closing in a week's time. J Milburn (talk) 19:55, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

User report on Dorismann
editHi. Some time ago you banned Dorismann, after I reported him on WP:AIV for repeated vandalism. Well, two days ago I reported him again (diff here), but for some reason some non-admin user deleted the report a mere four hours after it was made, claiming it was a stale report (diff here). Is that a legitimate move? Thanks for your time. BTW, I made this very same report to User:Blueboy96 here but he seems to be ignoring his talk page completely. --uKER (talk) 15:30, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- My concern now is more on the user who deleted the report than in Dorismann himself. What's with that? Feel free to reply here. I'm watching your talk. --uKER (talk) 15:58, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- Well, in that case, what is the course of action to follow? --uKER (talk) 18:43, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
2010 WikiCup Signups Reconfirmation!
editTo ensure that everyone who signed up is still committed to participating in the 2010 WikiCup, it is required that you remove your name from this list! By removing your name, you are not removing yourself from the WikiCup. This is simply a way for the judges to take note of who has not yet reconfirmed their participation. If you have not removed your name from that list by December 30th, 2009 (by 23:59 (UTC)) then your name will be removed from the WikiCup.
It's worth noting the rules have changed, likely after you signed up. The changes made thus far are:
- Mainspace and/or portal edits will not be awarded points at all.
- Did you know? articles (which were worth 5 points last year) will now be worth 10 points.
- Good articles (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
- Valued pictures will be now awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
- Featured lists (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
- Featured portals (which were worth 25 points last year) will now be worth 35 points.
- Featured articles (which were worth 50 points last year) will now be worth 100 points.
- Featured topics (which were worth 10 points per article last year) will now be worth 15 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
- Good topics (which were worth 5 points per article last year) will now be worth 10 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
- In the news will still be awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
If you have any final concerns about the WikiCup's rules and regulations, please ask them now, before the Cup begins to avoid last minute problems. You may come to the WikiCup's talk page, or any of the judge's user talk pages. We're looking forwards to a great 2010 WikiCup! I'd like to thank you for the help and support, and effort to expand the scope of New York's Capital District on Wikipedia. Enjoy your respective holiday and best wishes for the coming new year (especially related to your content work on Wikipedia)!
Old NJ shields
editI have a question about the pre-1953 New Jersey shields you requested recently. In the GA review for U.S. Route 30 in New Jersey, there were concerns about where the source of these shields came from. When Fredddie had created them, he said they were based off File:NY-x (cutout).svg, which is not related at all. Since you had initally requested the shields, I wanted to check with you as to where the source for the New Jersey cutout shields is. ---Dough4872 18:09, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
- Are there any online sources you could give me a link to? ---Dough4872 18:44, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. ---Dough4872 18:52, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
- To be honest, it was a copy/paste error. It should have said the NJ cutout. --Fredddie™ 22:28, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
