Alright; I'll do a final look over the article before passing :D. Next on my list (after completing Talk:Boeing B-52 Stratofortress/GA1) is 2010 Crown Royal Presents the Heath Calhoun 400 (nominated by NSD). Make sure to take the suggestions from this review and apply them before I get there! Airplaneman ✈ Review? 04:50, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Can we come to a comprise?
As far as the team chart goes on the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, can we compromise to get rid of the team colors and keep the sponsors because they are pertinent to the drivers getting rides and drivers switching to new teams and numbers (eg, Kurt Busch switching to #22 and taking Shell-Pennzoil with him)? Trocksuk4415 (talk) 01:55, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Replied at your talk page.--Nascar1996 Contributions / Guestbook 01:57, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- I am a Hendricks fan! Who is your favorite driver? #24 has been my guy since he started full-time in 1993. Anyways, I am fine with losing the colors and owners, but I think sponsorship is pertinent information to recognizing the car and driver, don't you think? It will not make the tables large if we keep it to the main primary sponsor. I think it'll add to the page. Trocksuk4415 (talk) 14:33, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Okay just one sponsor for each because it is not a huge detail for it. --Nascar1996 Contributions / Guestbook 14:51, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Image on NASCAR template
I notice that you changed the image used at Template:NASCAR-stub. That image shows up poorly - we have to do better. I do like the image that you told me about at Commons (great job - crystal clear!) and I'd rather see it used than what's used now on SO many pages. Even the single picture that I uploaded (so far) from the Road America Nationwide race is better (File:Bucyrus200RoadAmerica2010FieldStarting.jpg). The picture used is way too blurry. As usual, please reply here on your talk page to keep the thread together. Royalbroil 02:39, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
- You can change it, how do you like the new WP:NASCAR? --Nascar1996 Contributions / Guestbook 02:40, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
- I like WP:NASCAR MUCH better! I don't have a preference for which better image to use. I was hoping to get one with several drivers which is why that previous image was used. Otherwise we could use the picture here on your talk page since Johnson is the reigning champ (File:Jimmie Johnson Pit Stop.jpg). Royalbroil 03:04, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
- You know I would like it, where I am a fan of him. --Nascar1996 Contributions / Guestbook 03:06, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
- Please change it then. I'm not a Johnson fan so I'm not biased either way. The only time that I might have seen him race is when he was a driver in SODA back in the 1990s when I was a pit crew member for a guy who raced in the smallest buggy class at one of the few off-road races at Road America. I remember seeing him race in some of the televised races back in the day. I'm sure that Brendan Gaughan raced in Class 13 races that year at RA and he dominated that class. - Awww, SWEEET! I found my ticket from one of the events! It was the event that I went to where I went as a spectator - I think it was the year after I pitted there. It was held on Sunday August 20, 1995 - the Chevrolet Off-Road America Challenge. It only cost $10. Last year it cost me $20 to watch the Off-Road World Championship race at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway - but the long trip there (almost 3 hours each way) cost me about $25 for gas. I'm a HUGE off-road racing fan so it was well worth the trip. Plus everyone sits in their lawn chairs on the frontstretch just chilling so talking with your "neighbors" is even more fun. - I was a big NASCAR fan from the mid 1980s until the Chase format began. It felt like they were punishing my favorite driver Matt Kenseth who I watched come up from the local ranks to be NASCAR champion. The races are all so long and I always would get bored and fall asleep about 1/4 way through. They stripped away the Darlington Fall race and both dates at North Wilkesboro which were both very interesting tracks, and replaced them with cookie cutter tracks. I'm not a fan of the drivers any more either. Btw, I sent that email with that awesome NASCAR story about me which you need to keep off Wikipedia. Royalbroil 04:32, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month – 2010 Toyota/Save Mart 350, new Good Article.
The 2010 Toyota/Save Mart 350 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on June 20, 2010 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Contested over 110 laps, it was the sixteenth race of the 2010 Sprint Cup Series season and the first of two road course competitions on the schedule. The race was won by Jimmie Johnson, for the Hendrick Motorsports team. Robby Gordon finished second, and Kevin Harvick, who started fourth, clinched third. Conditions were sunny at the start of the race, making the track potentially slippery. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead into the first corner, but Johnson, who had started in the second position on the grid, took the lead before the first lap was over. Kahne suffered an ill-handling car during the beginning of the race, causing him to fall to seventh by the sixth lap. Seven laps before the finish, race leader Marcos Ambrose, turned his car off to try to save fuel, but he could not refire the engine and subsequently stalled. He dropped back from the lead to sixth place with seven laps remaining, allowing Kahne to finish fourth and Jeff Gordon fifth. There were eight cautions and twelve lead changes among eight different drivers throughout the course of the race, Johnson's fourth win of the season and his first ever at Infineon. The result moved him up four spots to second in the Drivers' Championship, 140 points behind of leader Kevin Harvick and one ahead of Kyle Busch. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, nine points ahead of Toyota and forty-three ahead of Dodge, with twenty races remaining in the season. A couple tips
When creating the qualifying tables, use a |rowspan="8"| instead of just a | for the bar between the drivers who made it in the field and those who did not.
At the bottom of the results table use |-class="sortbottom" to prevent the sources line from sorting when the sort buttons are clicked. --Wean0r (talk) 22:30, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tips! --Nascar1996 Contributions / Guestbook 23:08, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
NOT Rumors
It has been confirmed that both Atlanta and Auto Club (California) will lose races in the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and links were posted. I have reverted back to that edit; the next time you do that, I will have no other choice but to report you to a moderator. NoseNuggets (talk) 3:38 PM US EDT Aug 7 2010
- The only reason both the teams and schedile were hidden, not erased, was that both the teams and schedule need to be confirmed. As stated in the rewrite, both Auto Club and Atlanta have officially lost 2011 dates (Atlanta in the spring; California in the fall and the Chase) due to this realignment to other tracks (Kentucky by SMI, Atlanta's owner and a second date to Kansas by ISC, Auto Club's owner) and links were posted there and in the 2011 Realignment stories. The schedule will be released on August 18th, and can be taken from hiding. Just do us all a favor and don't be an ignoramus when it comes to these things, okay? NoseNuggets (talk) 3:55 PM US EDT Aug 7 2010.
- I am going tomake minor ajustments accordingly. --Nascar1996 Contributions / Guestbook 19:56, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- How many times do I have to tell you? I have MORE expreience in this than you, thank you. The format on TV/Radio in the 2011 Sprint Cup Series was the same as the previous years. Don't feck it up, okay? As a result, I will have no other choice but to report you to a administrator for this. NoseNuggets (talk) 10:42 PM US EDT Aug 7 2010.
- Does the term "formatting" answer your question? Now you're looking at an "time out" if you know what I mean. NoseNuggets (talk) 10:46 PM US EDT Aug 7 2010.

I saw your mention of the unassessed WP:NASCAR articles in need of work in the Signpost, and decided to do something about it...
Nascar1996,
I'm a regular Signpost reader (and I especially enjoy the WikiProject Report), and I noticed your comment about wanting to clear the unassessed articles backlog at WP:NASCAR. After familiarizing myself with the assessment department's guidelines, I was able to clear the backlogs for both the "unassessed" and "unknown-importance" categories. I just wanted to let you know that getting your message out in the Signpost is a really good way to raise your profile and reach out to curious Wikipedians (like myself) who otherwise never would have stumbled across the project. Also, I really enjoyed reading the report on WP:NASCAR. Keep up the good work!

Article of the month – 2010 Food City 500, a recent good article
The 2010 Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee was the fifth race of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. The race began at 1 p.m. EDT on March 21, 2010. The 2010 Food City 500 was televised on Fox and broadcast on PRN radio. This race marked the last appearance of the rear wing on the Car of Tomorrow, with the spoiler returning the following race. This race also was the first of three in Carl Edwards' probation following his altercation with Brad Keselowski at the previous race at Atlanta Motor Speedway; Keselowski was sent airborne, subsequently crashing on his side door. The race had 13 different leaders, 39 lead changes and 10 cautions. The race attendance of 138,000 marked the end of a long streak of sellout seats at the track, which has a capacity of 158,000. The race had been a sellout since 1982. (More...) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

- (EC) Subpages are deprecated and disallowed in mainspace. If you'd prefer I userfy this for you so that you can integrate it into the article, I can do that, but yes it must be in the article. You can put it into a separate section for ease of editing. Would you like this moved to your userspace for placement into the article? Please note that the subpage will need to be deleted, so that's not arguable, I'm just giving this to you as an option to save the work you've done on the table and integrate it properly. While reverting vandalism, I reverted what may have been a good edit. This diff outlines a change made to the Showtime Southern 500 article in which an IP user deleted the 1950-1959 winners of the Southern 500. The same winners list can be found in this article, which deals with the "Southern 500". I reverted the deletion on principle, but I am not a NASCAR guy and I'm not very familiar with the history under discussion. The edit certainly could be correct. Because you were a contributor to the article, I'm hoping that you have an interest in and knowledge of the topic, and a willingness to either vet the deletion or the reversion. Thanks! Article of the month – 2010 Carfax 400, a recent good article
The 2010 Carfax 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on August 15, 2010 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. Contested over 200 laps, it was the twenty-third race of the 2010 Sprint Cup Series season. The race was won by Kevin Harvick for the Richard Childress Racing team. Denny Hamlin finished second, and Carl Edwards, who started twenty-fourth, clinched third. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead into the first corner to begin the race, but Jimmie Johnson, who started in the second position on the grid, took the lead before the first lap was over. Afterward, Greg Biffle became the leader, and would eventually lead to the race high of 66 laps. Tony Stewart led after the final pit stops, ahead of Hamlin and Harvick. Harvick helped Hamlin to become the leader, but with twelve laps left, Harvick gained on Hamlin and claimed the first position with eleven lap remaining. Harvick maintained his position to claim his first Sprint Cup victory at Michigan International Speedway. There were five cautions and nineteen lead changes among nine different drivers throughout the course of the race, Harvick's third win of the season. The result maintained the first position in the Drivers' Championship and clinched him a position in the Chase. He remained 293 points ahead of second place driver Jeff Gordon and 353 ahead of Denny Hamlin. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, thirty points ahead of Toyota and sixty-one ahead of Ford, with thirteen races remaining in the season. A total of 105,000 people attended the race, while 4.917 million watched it on television. Is it Flickr and can I put the pictures in Wikipedia:WikiProject NASCAR/Newsletter/201010 for you? Wayne Olajuwon chat 16:44, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- No, it is not Flickr. I rather do it. Are you sure you want to do it; it is kinda complicated. Nascar1996 20:36, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
I would put the pictures in Wikipedia:WikiProject NASCAR/Newsletter/201010 and you can upload the pictures. Wayne Olajuwon chat 23:53, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Those manufacturers isn't a mistake because those are the actual manufacturers of those teams. Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:09, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- Give me a break, I have done this a whole lot more times than you have, I know what their manufactuers are with out looking. Joe Gibbs Racing is Toyota. Nascar1996 21:11, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Can I add the other race results for you? Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:13, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

I'll try not to make any mistakes. Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:25, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

I would update other driver's information and you can update Jimmie Johnson's information. Wayne Olajuwon chat 22:57, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Huggle
When you are going to fight vandalism with Huggle again? Wayne Olajuwon chat 00:23, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- I don't vandal fight with Huggle that much because it is really slow on my computer, and it freezes a lot, too. Nascar1996 00:29, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Oh, okay. Wayne Olajuwon chat 00:45, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'm using it right now; it isn't as slow as the 9.6 type. Nascar1996 00:47, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Okay, and you should try using it everyday. Wayne Olajuwon chat 00:54, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- No, I'm not going to use it everyday. It doesn't help you that much to become an administrator at all. The last time I made a large amount of Huggle edits was in March of this year. Nascar1996
Okay, you could use it when you need to, and you can still edit NASCAR-related articles when you're not on Huggle. Wayne Olajuwon chat 00:58, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- That is what I mostly do. Every once in a while I will use Huggle, but now in the early part of the week because it takes a large amount of time to get the NASCAR articles finished. I still haven't finished 2010 Price Chopper 400 yet either. Nascar1996 01:00, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
You can continue working on the 2010 Price Chopper 400, and when you're not editing NASCAR articles, you would be using Huggle. Why don't you use Huggle on NASCAR articles? Wayne Olajuwon chat 01:03, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Re
To answer your question about the Top 35 owner's standings: Some people do care about whether their driver is inside the Top 35, especially Robby Gordon fans. I put the team's owners names instead of the drivers because sometimes they will rotate drivers, especially the Front Row Motorsports team. I will update it as often as need, but if you not want me to put something like that in the 2011 editon, I understand. If I do not have such a section, is there a way we can mention in the race report if a team moves in or out of the Top 35?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Diddlyman2004 (talk • contribs) 21:38, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
I usually look at Jayski and NASCAR for driver and team updates. If there is a confirmed driver change, I update the pages. On my Top 35 standings, I only list the position, car number, owners, points from 35th. In the case of Tommy Baldwin Racing or Front Row MOtorsports, it does get confusing to update the driver constantly. If the drivers change cars within the team, it would impossible to constantly update (Travis Kvapil has driven the 34, 37, and 38 this year). I was also wondering if we could put the Jayski entry list in the qualifying section or updated owner's point standings in the race summary. Diddlyman2004 (talk) 13:36, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

You found this article and didn't think to tag it for speedy deletion? I'm all for giving newbies a break, but I think there are cases where you just have to bring out the hook. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:37, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't worry about deletions. I don't quite understand them, exept for the user request one. Nascar1996 20:39, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
On Haruki De Baptiste, why did you place cleanup tags? Looking at the content of the article and the name of the person who created it, it's pretty obvious it's just something silly that somebody wrote about himself. Placing other tags on it makes it look like a legitimate article and can make the deletion process take longer. Kansan (talk) 00:05, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

- It shouldn't clash actually. NASCAR race is live over here at 6pm, 12 hours after the Formula One starts. On the restart, on lap 89, Jimmie Johnson led them to the green flag. On the following lap, David Reutimann, with assistance from Jeff Gordon, passed Johnson, but Reutimann, on lap 91, was passed by Gordon. Jeff Gordon led until lap 92 because Kyle Busch passed him. On lap 94, Kasey Kahne passed Busch to become the 25th leader in the race, but two laps later Regan Smith passed him for the lead. One lap later Kasey Kahne reclaimed the lead. On lap 100, the fourth caution came out as a result of Regan Smith's engine blowing up in smoke. There were 3 lead changes under caution; the drivers who led were Denny Hamlin, Mark Martin, and Greg Biffle. On lap 105, Greg Biffle led the field to the green flag. A lead change happened on lap 106 with Denny Hamlin passing Biffle. Two laps later, Joey Logano passed Hamlin, but on lap 111, he was passed by Brian Vickers. On the next lap, Logano reclaimed the lead from Vickers. On lap 113, Kyle Busch passed Logano, but after a lap of leading, he was passed by A.J. Allmendinger. Then, on lap 117, Johnson passed Allmendinger for the lead, but on the next lap A.J. Allmendinger reclaimed the lead.
- I would write it like this:
At the lap 89 restart, Jimmie Johnson led the field to the green flag, but on the following lap, David Reutimann – with assistance from Johnson's team-mate Jeff Gordon – passed Johnson, but Reutimann himself was passed by Gordon on the next lap. Jeff Gordon led until lap 92 before Kyle Busch passed him and led two laps, until Kasey Kahne passed him on lap 94 to become the 25th leader in the race, leading two laps before Regan Smith passed him for the lead. Kahne reclaimed the lead on lap 97 and held the lead until the race's fourth caution on lap 100 when Smith's engine blew. There were 3 lead changes under caution; the drivers who led were Denny Hamlin, Mark Martin, and Greg Biffle. Biffle led the field to the green flag for the lap 105 restart, with Hamlin retaking the lead on lap 106. Hamlin's Joe Gibbs Racing team-mate Joey Logano passed Hamlin for the lead on lap 108, but on lap 111, he was passed by Brian Vickers. The lead then changed for the next three laps, with Logano taking Vickers for the lead at first, the third Joe Gibbs car of Kyle Busch passed Logano on the following lap before he was passed by A. J. Allmendinger on the 113th lap. Allmendinger held the lead until lap 117, when Johnson passed him for the lead, but would return to the head of the field the lap after.
- Feel free to continue the prose that you have done in the past for the NASCAR summaries as it is not something to be knocked at, and the fact that many other users may prefer it that way. Cs-wolves(talk) 18:09, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month – Alan Kulwicki, selected as a good article
Alan Dennis Kulwicki (December 14, 1954 – April 1, 1993), nicknamed "Special K" and the "Polish Prince", was an American NASCAR Winston Cup Series (now Sprint Cup Series) racecar driver. He started racing at local short tracks in Wisconsin before moving up to regional stock car touring series. Kulwicki arrived at NASCAR, the highest and most expensive level of stock car racing in the United States, with no sponsor, a limited budget, and only a racecar and a borrowed pickup truck. Despite starting with meager equipment and finances, he earned the 1986 NASCAR Rookie of the Year award over drivers racing for well-funded teams. After Kulwicki won his first race at Phoenix International Raceway, he debuted what would become his trademark "Polish Victory Lap". Kulwicki won the 1992 Winston Cup championship by what was then the closest margin in NASCAR history. He died early in 1993 in a light aircraft accident, and was unable to defend his championship. He has been inducted into numerous racing halls of fame and was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers. Kulwicki was known for being a perfectionist and doing things his own way. An engineer by trade, his scientific approach to NASCAR racing inspires the way teams are now run. Despite lucrative offers from top car owners, he insisted on driving for his own race team, AK Racing, during most of his NASCAR career. Described by his publicist as "a real hard type of person to get to know", he remained a bachelor throughout his life. Wikipedia Anniversary
Congratulations on your 1 year anniversary here at Wikipedia. It's been a good year, and wishing many more for you! Royalbroil 01:03, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, and I hope I last longer, too! Nascar1996 01:06, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
I critically read the article's content and I hope that you did too. Do you have any automated tools to check the article? I can run it through a spell checker. Do you have a tool to test each reference to make sure that it is still valid (not a 404 page)? Otherwise each needs to be manually checked by someone. I'm hoping to nominate it for Featured Article early next week. Royalbroil 05:58, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- I see your upcoming Wikibreak. I'll wait until you tell me that you're back and ready before I nominate it. I'm not usually around too much on weekends so weekdays are best. Royalbroil 12:45, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll see if I have the reference checker (I'm not sure if I do or not). On weekdays, I'm only on the Web from 3:10 ET to 10:30 ET, exept for Tuesday, where I am off. The week I am off for next month is the week of Thanksgiving, but I can do a lot of work during the evenings if I have something to do. I will be online that night or the next evening. Also, I am considering buying a new camera, which one would you suggest? Nascar1996 13:28, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Also, you may consider looking at this and this. Nascar1996 13:34, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, so then an average weeknight is probably fine with you since 7 hours is a long time. I'm lucky to be online from 7 to 10 or 11. No problem with avoiding Thanksgiving week. So what are these excellent tools about the references designed for? Royalbroil 22:12, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

(deindent) As for the camera, are you looking to get a point-and-shoot or a DSLR? There's a huge difference in price and capabilities. If you want to use the camera to take any action shots, then make sure it has a sports mode. My point and shoot had it and I used it all the time at the racetracks. You'll also want to be able to take photos without the flash on. I rarely use it except for portraits. If you use the flash beyond its range, then the camera predicts the wrong shutter speed to use and it misses. My DSLR allows me to change lens to telephoto. The telephoto opened up a whole new world of photography. However, the skill of the photograph can be more important the the camera. I took a photo with my point and shoot that I sold to a magazine and it is in their current issue! Royalbroil 22:12, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I want a camera to take good racing pictures (I'm not sure what type). I have seen this one camera with 15x zoom and 12mp. For the reference tools, above all the references there are colors. It shows you which references you have to work on. Such as some at the right side will say the web address has ? marks at the end. You can just read it and you should understand it quickly. Thats one thing, after the final race on November 21 I will be free to do anything because I have no race reports to do. Nascar1996 00:00, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- If you can afford to spend $600 on a camera, you should get into the DSLR world. DSLR is not a brand, it's a type of camera. With a DSLR, you'll get great shots every time. They are fully automatic, partial automatic, or fully programmable depending on what mode you set them. It's taken me quite some time to understand mine. DSLR's use a single lens to reflect the light so they work better in low light. Their pictures almost always look better. But the cost is not affordable for many people. A point-and-shoot camera is a nice, small pocket-sized camera. They are less programmable; so have little to no options. They cost maybe $60 to $130. If you go this way, it's important to watch for the highest amount of programmability. Another thing is to watch to get the most amount of optical zoom and don't even consider digital zoom. You'll want to do the digital zoom by cropping the photos when you process the photos on your computer. Megapixels is way too overrated. My Canon can shoot at 10 megapixels. I found no advantage with doing when I tested the camera with multiple shots of the same object at different megapixels. So I shoot everything at the poorest resolution - around 2 megapixels. The higher the megapixels, the larger the file gets on my hard drive. And I've taken tens of thousands of pictures on both of my cameras. To compare the cameras, here's what I've experienced in the dark at a racetrack: with my point&shoot I had to take pictures of parked racecars on the frontstretch and then they often were blurry. With the DLSR and a telephoto, I can zoom on the cars on the backstretch over the top of the catch fence. Of course the telephoto cost as much as the camera did. Cars can be moving if it's a well-lit track. Compare point&shoot vs DSLR. Royalbroil 03:56, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- I can see the difference between the two photos. When I was at the All-Star race the people sitting in front of us had a camera with ouse a large lense, and they could zoom in really close, and the image still looked nice. I don't know the camera's name, but I have seem them in Walmart. I'll probably will get that camera (which costs $279.99) for Christmas. Also, how do you like the improvements with Portal:NASCAR? There are now 14 sets of four DYK's and one more set of three, six or seven Selected articles, five selected biographies, and about 5 to 10 images in rotation. I added 'Current Championship Standings', too. Nascar1996 04:21, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sounds like you have the camera figured out, good luck with it (hopefully)! You did a great job with the Portal. I especially like the randomly generated layout. Royalbroil 04:58, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

- Can I create the 2011 Subway Fresh Fit 500 like I told you before if you don't mind? WAYNEOLAJUWON 01:40, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
- Not yet. I would accually like it to be created either in January or February. Also, please do not create articles for race pages for 2012 like you did for 2011 Ford 400. Thanks, Nascar1996 01:43, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
- I won't do that again, I promise. I watch NASCAR myself but you update the stats every weekend and I do other stuff on WP:NASCAR such as create new WP:NASCAR articles' talk pages. Who updates the Nationwide Series' and Camping World Truck Series' schedules? WAYNEOLAJUWON 01:50, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

I hope he wins, or Hamlin and Harvick wrecks, he can clinch the championship by leading the most laps, winning the race, and Denny Hamlin finsh 3rd or worse. It doesn't because I'm taking a break. Normally when I keep on doing it I don't want to do the rest, and it might let me focas on 2010 Ford 400 more so I can get it to FA class. Nascar1996 02:04, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Also:I'll do it after the season is over. Nascar1996 02:05, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
- I wonder how Johnson will do. Johnson should win the race and the championship. If he doesn't, he still had a good season, overall. Johnson is behind Hamlin by only 15 points going into Homestead. If he does clinch the championship, he will make NASCAR history, again. Did you know Johnson won the Daytona 500 in 2006 when Chad Knaus was suspended a few races? Jimmie's season always turned around in the Chase until this year when he had success before the Chase. I've been watching NASCAR since 2004. WAYNEOLAJUWON 02:11, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

- How long have you been a Johnson fan? WAYNEOLAJUWON 20:32, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

- I started watching NASCAR in 2004 when it was known as the NEXTEL Cup Series. I follow Jeff Gordon as my favorite driver but Jimmie's good too. I've watch all the Sprint Cup races every year since 2008. WAYNEOLAJUWON 20:43, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

- I know. Sunday's race should be very interesting to determine who's the champion: Hamiln, Johnosn, or Harvick. Only one will have the title. All three have a very good shot at the cup. Do you ever watch NASCAR RaceDay. WAYNEOLAJUWON 01:16, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

- I think you've convinced me to watch this one, at least keep close tabs while my Green Bay Packers are playing. The last championship finale I remember that was this close was Alan Kulwicki's championship in 1992 which was a shocker. I was also a fan of Davey Allison and it was great having two horses in the race. It sure made for a rough 1993 when they both died in aviation crashes! Royalbroil 03:30, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- I can't believe it! :) I'll be happy that you boost up their ratings a little bit. One championship down this season, two to go. Nascar1996 03:39, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- Today is the championship race for the Nationwide Series even though it's over now that Brad Keselowski won the championship at Texas. Danica Patrick had an up and down year. Tomorrow is the most interesting of all three races: Keep an eye out for the top three: Hamlin, Johnson, and Harvick. Harvick needs a lot of help to own the cup. Johnson needs to win the race and lead the most laps in order to capture a fifth consecutive championship. Hamlin may need to finish second or better and lead the most laps in order to capture the cup. The championship driver's flag will fly for the next 12 months. The closest chase victory was when Kurt Busch won the championship in 2004 when the Cup Series was known as the NEXTEL Cup Series. WAYNEOLAJUWON 16:02, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Re:Volumes
It depends on the way you want to look at it. With the NASCAR newsletter starting mid-season, it may be best to go through a year of them to just fit in. Alternatively, you could follow our lead and start the second volume in January, but just having the short 2010 stint at the beginning. This decision is entirely up to you, as it is all about preference. But the Issue/Volume thing was not my idea for the Newsletter, as it had been there since the very first newsletter. Cs-wolves(talk) 21:10, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- I would keep it as it is currently, and change the volume with each July issue, when the first one was released. Cs-wolves(talk) 21:21, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month – Auto Club Speedway, a recent good article
Auto Club Speedway (formerly California Speedway) is a two-mile (3 km), low-banked, D-shaped oval superspeedway in Fontana, California which has hosted NASCAR racing annually since 1997. The track was also used for open wheel racing events until 2005. The racetrack is located near the former locations of Ontario Motor Speedway and Riverside International Raceway. The track is currently owned and operated by International Speedway Corporation and is the only track owned by ISC to have naming rights sold. The speedway is served by the nearby Interstate 10 and Interstate 15 freeways as well as a Metrolink station located behind the backstretch.Construction of the track, on the site of the former Kaiser Steel Mill, began in 1995 and was completed in late 1996. The speedway has a grandstand capacity of 91,200 and 28 skyboxes. In 2006, a fanzone was added behind the main grandstand. Lights were added to the speedway in 2004 with the addition of a second annual NASCAR weekend. In 2011 the track will host only one NASCAR weekend. Good pit stop image
I found a good free-use image of the US Army crew doing a pit stop for Mark Martin in 2007 [2]. I don't know where it could be used, so please add it if you can find a spot. Royalbroil 02:12, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- Do you think we should add it to Martin's article, or Pit stop? Nascar1996 02:13, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- I wasn't convinced to add to either or else I would have. Probably not any better than the pit stop picture of Jr. So if you can't think of anything that I'd say forget about it. I found more here if you find anything interesting (I didn't). Royalbroil 02:21, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'm going to use some of them. Most definately the image of Mark Martin (not his car). Nascar1996 02:23, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- Also very nice find! Nascar1996 02:27, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- Good, I'm glad I brought it up. I'm going to crop the image of Don Schumacher down to his NHRA trophy for the NHRA article. Royalbroil 02:29, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, do you think I should upload this closeup image of the rear tire changer? Nascar1996 02:32, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, good find. I'd add it to the Pit stop article in the section "NASCAR pit crew roles" and put it on the left. It's nice to stagger the images once in a while. Royalbroil 03:00, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. I'll upload it tomorrow, as I am needing to rest. Nascar1996 03:03, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

NASCAR driver's template
I see that you made major changes to Template:Infobox NASCAR driver. Is Corona the Mexican series? What about Canadian Tire Series? But the main reason that I asked is because you changed the example to Richard Petty. Can you change the example back to Mark Martin because it was very helpful to copy a driver who raced in all 3 of the major series. Please list the Corona series but keep them blank so it's a full template to copy. What happened to the Achievements section? Thanks! Royalbroil 04:46, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't change some of those, I just changed the how the name formatting is and I changed some of the wording. Here is the differences: [3] Nascar1996 11:31, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
PR
Glad my comments were helpful - copyeditors can sometimes be found at WP:GOCE or in the bottom-most section of WP:PR/V. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 22:18, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- By a fresh pair of eyes I meant anyone who has not been working closely with the article recently. If you take a break and come back to the article, you will notice things then you do not now (or at least this works for me). You can also try printing out the article and reading it out loud to catch rough spots. A copyedit from someone else would also be "fresh eyes", though they could be someone familiar with NASCAR or not. The important thing is to get a copyedit from someone new to the article if at all possible. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 05:04, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
Re: FAs
One thing I noticed is that they do factor prose in heavily; it has to be great rather than good or okay. As such, before trying there, I would have you send the article to Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests, where they should be able to fine-tune any issues. I logged on to Commons to find that my video of ice racing is the Commons Media of the Day for today (Tuesday). How exciting is that! I didn't know it was even nominated. I'm surprised that they used the video with the dirt spots on the camera's sensor. Royalbroil 03:46, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- Wow! Thats really cool and exiting. I'm also surprised that they would chose it. On the other hand, WP:NASCAR has a high chance to finally get their first featured item, which the nomination is here. Nascar1996 03:51, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yea, I saw the nomination and I didn't comment for a reason. It looks like it's going well enough so it'll pass without my comment. Royalbroil 03:06, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- Why didn't you comment? If it oppose, its all right. It ends tomorrow. Nascar1996 03:08, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- Because I'm neutral about it. A daylight photograph would beat this shot taken at night. An opposition or even neutral often changes the outcome when it is done early in the process. Royalbroil 04:40, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

(deindent) I'm glad to see it passed, congratulations to you and WikiProject NASCAR. The featured headline for the newsletter! I suggest that you immediately request for it to be featured on the main page on the day of the 2011 Daytona 500 in February. My Wiki-acquaintance Howcheng does the scheduling. I bet he'd appreciate if you offer to help write the blurb. Since this passed, I now wonder if some of my newer photos with my semi-pro-level camera are featured level. I'm feeling better about them... Royalbroil 03:44, 16 December 2010 (UTC) P.S. check out Wikipedia:Triple Crown, you have one coming!
- I'm proud to finally get the first item featured for our wonderful project. I will, but I'm sure where to go; I'll check it out though. I have looked at some of your images, and they look the same, if not better than the new featured one. Nascar1996 11:02, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for the high praise! The problem is that the great car images don't have strong encyclopedic value in driver's articles since they're in biographies. Featured Pictures for biographies are always pictures of the person. Possibly this image for Bucyrus 200 or this one for Formula Continental. Royalbroil 14:44, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- However, before you nominate for FP (if you do) get it peer reviewed first. Nascar1996 14:47, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Jason Ratcliff
On 14 December 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Jason Ratcliff, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Jason Ratcliff was the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion crew chief? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Article of the month – 2010 Sylvania 300, a recent Good Article
The 2010 Sylvania 300 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on September 19, 2010, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire. The 300 lap race was the twenty-seventh in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the first race in the ten-race Chase for the Sprint Cup, which ends the season. Clint Bowyer, of the Richard Childress Racing team, won the race, with Denny Hamlin finishing second, and Jamie McMurray third. Pole position driver Brad Keselowski maintained his lead in the first lap, but in the second lap Tony Stewart pulled ahead. Chase for the Sprint Cup participants Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, and Hamlin were in the top ten for most of the race, but in the closing laps all of them suffered spins or other problems. Hamlin was the only one to recover and finish in the top five. With two laps remaining, Tony Stewart was leading the race when he ran out of fuel, giving the lead to Bowyer, who also led the most laps in the race with 176. There were eight cautions and twenty-three lead changes among eight different drivers during the race. The race was Clint Bowyer's first win in the 2010 season, and the third of his career. The result advanced Bowyer to second in the Drivers' Championship, thirty-five points behind Hamlin and ten ahead of Kevin Harvick, but because of a penalty three days after the race, he fell to twelfth in the standings. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, thirty-two points ahead of Toyota and seventy-four ahead of Ford, with nine races remaining in the season. A total of 95,000 people attended the race, while 3.68 million watched it on television. Concerning the NASCAR the Game 2011
It is fine that you removed things that weren't referenced, but you also removed many corrections I made to grammar errors that were not part of quotations and even then brackets should be used. The items I changed are known and are present on several gaming websites. Also I improved the clarity in several areas, where it was otherwise poorly worded by whoever originally wrote it. One example is where it mentions "all 23 tracks", it would be more clear if one said all 23 tracks on the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule or something like that.
