If i am posting in the wrong place let me know. I was the person who removed the chart history of Albums by Joni Mitchell. It is completely innacurate. I would like to revise the list. I have two text references (actual books) one is Shadows and Light and the other is the Joni Mitchell the Mark Bego biography. Can i reference non-internet citations? If so can you point me to an article on how? I would really like to update this chart. It's a good idea, it just needs some sound research.
Thank-you for the warm welcome. 69.60.229.35 (talk) 21:48, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- New posts go at the bottom but I'll respond where you've posted so you won't miss it :). You can certainly revise the list and use non-internet citations! The method of referencing offline sources like books, can be found here → Wikipedia:Citing sources. I'm thinking I might take a look over it myself and summarise it as it is a very long page. If you would like anymore help, with wiki-mark up or anything else, please let me know :). Seraphim♥ Whipp 21:56, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, this is the style you would want to use Wikipedia:Harvard referencing. Referencing a book would look like this:
- Author, A. (2005a). Harvard Referencing, New York: Random House. ISBN 1-899235-74-4
- Would you like to work on the section in one of my sandboxes? Or I could create you your own? That way, I would have a better way of helping you out if you were having any problems. Seraphim♥ Whipp 22:03, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Not you. :) We just AfD'd the content Applemac20 is now trying to put on the Oreo page. Don't know how many times it was deleted before I took it to AfD. I really feel that it should not be here because it's spam. I think the version you reverted to is, well OK. Cheers, Dlohcierekim Deleted? 01:10, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- I stumbled onto it completely by accident (I'm British...never actually eaten a proper Oreo...only a snack sized one...). The thing I'm thinking now is that, in the grand scale of things, is it such a notable thing that it needs to be mentioned anyway? An advertising campaign which will surely be forgotten in a few months and it lacks any notable sources. It would be better if we could say it was notable because the campaign had an impact on sales or it had an impact on how other companies market their products...but there aren't any reliable sources which say that. Seraphim♥ Whipp 01:20, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oh dear...just seen what's happened with Applemac20. Seraphim♥ Whipp 01:23, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- Poor guy. People don't always handle AfD's well. I bent over backwards to try to save the thing, I had no idea it had been deleted under the similar spelling. I would have left it deleted. Then, the AfD closes delete, and he puts the content on Oreo. It might or might not be notable enough for the breif mention. I don't think so. Just another clever ad campaign. Plus the viral component. Dlohcierekim Deleted? 01:31, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- I did look at the afd after placing a message on their talk page. I'm surprised at how they've reacted but maybe they'll come back cooled off after their block :/. As for the Oreo article...it's a wiki and no doubt, editors will improve the article and it will get removed in time :). It's off to bed for me (it's 1:40am - must break wikipedia addiction). Goodnight :). Seraphim♥ Whipp 01:39, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

I think you're probably an absolute stunner. Your interests are interesting. I'd like to think youre a Douglas Adams fan. A fan of Spaced. Like the music of The Prodigy. And enjoy various forms of pasta in unusual sauces. But please, please leave the Mike Parry page alone. It's special. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.12.112.198 (talk • contribs)
- I would love to, and your edits are amusing to say the least, but unfortunately, they don't meet WP:BLP policy. Information added to a biography of a living person must be backed up by verifiable sources. If it isn't, it can be removed on sight. Seraphim♥ Whipp 11:38, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- I can only agree with 84.12.112.198. Seraphim - Why do you care what's on Mike Parry's page? It's ridiculous to ask people to quote reliable sources because Mike said all those things on his radio show.
- I know you get some sort of pleasure out of destroying somebody's Wiki page on a technicality but please just leave this alone. Can't you see how unreasonable you're being? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ron Stowmarket (talk • contribs) 14:51, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Content hosted on wikipedia has to meet wikipedia's standards. In this instance, the content is being added to an article which falls under the scope of WP:BLP policy. I don't actually care what's on Mike Parry's page, providing it conforms to WP:BLP standard. To help better your understanding of my actions, please take a read through WP:V, WP:RS and the one linked above, WP:BLP.
- If you would like help trying to improve an article, I will be more than happy to help :). Seraphim♥ Whipp 15:06, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Accidental revert
As you can see here (for the time being, until the edits in question roll over), I've reverted your edit. I take it that you were in an edit conflict and accidentally reverted a user who had reverted the actual vandalism.
I was just wondering what IP 79.211.107.49's warning was for. If it was for this edit, or if it is a factor, perhaps it may be worth reconsidering the course of action. Anyhow, hello to you, Seraphim Whipp. Qwerty (talk) 14:11, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Rather than make a long explanation, can I point you in the direction of AFI-PUNK (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)? That is who that IP is a sock of. I am meaning to create a sub-page to explain why I revert 79.211 without explanation :). Thanks for fixing that edit. The warning is for his continued disruptive vandalism which happens weekly, and in some occasions, daily. His main account has been blocked indefinitely for a variety of reasons including; harassment, disruptive editing and using sock puppets abusively. Seraphim♥ Whipp 15:03, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome.
And since you seem to be an admin, do you think you could do something about 64.251.54.132? A quick look at their edit history will show why... 86.130.17.11 (talk) 17:07, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Userbox
Hello :) i was kindda wondering what do you mean by this userbox: "This user's Intelligence Quotient is 130 also knows that internet tests probably don't count for anything :P" Cheers! :D Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 13:54, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hello :). One thing I've learnt studying A-level Psychology is the effect that methodology has on the reliability and accuracy of a scientific result. Basically, a Tickle test is probably an unreliable gauge of someone's IQ in comparison to a Mensa standard test because of the difference in the methodology used to create the tests. So I could have an IQ of 130 but I take that with a massive pinch of salt because of the type of test I used. I hope that explains things, if not... I'm here :) Seraphim♥ Whipp 14:07, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- You take A-levels too, that's fantastic! me too! :D (I hope that did not come as too enthusiastic!)
- Anyway, I agree with you there, in particular the tickle test thing. They are completely unreliable, for one thing, they do not have timing whatsoever. However, if you go around the web, you will see some decent tests, this one in particular promises to be very accurate
- I did not consider taking A-level physiology, mainly because my school did not think it's worth it. Many students opt for sciences and humanities instead.
- Thanks for the response. ;)
- Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 18:00, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, I confess, I finished my A-levels last year in May/June :) and unfortunately, I was rather rubbish at Psychology :(. However, I did just get an unconditional offer from the uni I wanted to go to so I can go off and study English Literature and Language :).
- Thanks for the link :D ; I'll definitely have a look at that after I finish up on this article I've been working on all day (Made in the Dark). How sad is that...I've been editing it since 11:11 am this morning... I do find editing therapeutic though ;) Seraphim♥ Whipp 18:11, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Grades do not matter as long as you get into the uni you want, they are just the means, the road, not the destination. Congratulations on the unconditional offer! Lucky you :) ! I have to go through the whole admission process, which is quite devastating :(.
- You gotta give yourself some rest! From 11:11 am! That's some serious wikiholicism -or whatever and however it is spelled- editcountisis could have some adverse effects :).
- Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 18:41, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks; I'm chuffed :). Don't worry about the admission process; it's much easier than you'd first think and you'll be fine! I shall take your advice, I'm off to watch Harry Hill's TV Burp :). Seraphim♥ Whipp 18:47, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

I had received a message from User:Timmeh regarding disruptive editing by that particular editor via multiple IPs on several articles. Not sure if the network provider which is the Deutsche Telecom is aware, but anyway, I'm leaving a message to WP:AN so possibly the WikiMedia Foundation will contact them about the repeated abuse if he continues, you can add more on this issue there if you want since I haven't seen most of his disruption.--JForget 18:08, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hey. I've just received a complaint from an anon about his frustration of this guy, particularly with the Billy Talent article. This editor and I are also aware that you have posted a warning indicating he is a sock on multiple IPs, and should be ignored. What's the status with this guy? Huggle User Category
Hi there. I have seen that you use huggle by the fact that you have automatically updated the huggle white list(it does this when closing huggle). I was wondering if you would add the category [[Category:Wikipedians who use Huggle]] to your user page so that it fills out and we know who actually uses huggle. If you do not want to you do not have to. I am also sorry if i have already talked to you about this or you no longer use huggle but i sent it to everyone that has edited the page since mid January. I hope we can start to fill out this category. If you would like to reply to this message then please reply on my talk page as i will probably not check here again. I reported 89.241.144.198 to AIV just before you offered help: on seeing that you had, I followed up with a comment to WP:AIV suggesting they hold off, but despite that he has been blocked 1 day by user:Parsecboy. JohnCD (talk) 14:21, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- I've asked Parsecboy if he'll unblock to see if this is a vandal or not. I checked their contribs and found evidence of good faith edits. Seraphim♥ Whipp 14:23, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- He's agreed to unblock so I'll see if I can help Mr/Miss 89.241. Seraphim♥ Whipp 14:24, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Storm Trooper Image
Even though the free image you posted does not depict the subject matter as well as the other two, I think you were right to replace the first image with a free image. The second photo is in the history section and depicts the subject with the Star Wars logo thereby demonstrating its significance in the movie as well as the history of the subject. I think it ought to stay unless a free replacement could be found for it. Sf46 (talk) 02:41, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Don't let it get to you - I'm getting called disruptive for following the NFCC, and others have too. Will (talk) 10:02, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- The editor commented before even taking into account my contribs or my answers to the questions, judging the worthiness of my mop-wielding (lol) on the basis of one comment...And I thought that comment was perfectly polite and informative. I'm hoping they'll log back in today and give me some feedback. I hope you don't let it get to you either (being called disruptive). Seraphim♥ Whipp 11:35, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- You might want to get that stormtrooper image deleted under NFCC 4... (or whatever the "already published" criterion is or isn't) Will (talk) 14:14, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- I replaced it last night so it was orphaned and I've just tagged it as a fair-use orphan. Seraphim♥ Whipp 14:21, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Definitely don't let it get to you. All that it does is make it not unanimous (or without an oppose), and you need a lot of luck (beyond being a well-liked and accomplished editor) to have an unopposed RfA. There are always people either looking to go against the grain, or who will find some reason not to like you. Enigma msg! 14:57, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

User talk:Georgiabulldogs09
Hi Seraphim. Just querying what went on with some edits of mine earlier. I tagged a new page Adam Gillespie as db-bio (in fact I may have been beaten to the edit by someone else, but to my mind it was obviously speedy deletion material). I left a uw-vandal2 on the creator's talk page. The Adam Gillespie page was indeed speedily deleted, but you deleted my own vandalism warning on the creator's page with a comment "Didn't appear to be vandalism. Let's try again" and replaced it with a welcome message. Just wondering why you didn't see the page as vandalism? Sorry I'm a bit in the dark as I can't see the full history, not being an admin. Best regards. TrulyBlue (talk) 15:45, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- It was definitely a db-bio but I did happen to see the content just before it got deleted. It didn't look like vandalism though. It looked like a well-expressed good faith effort that failed the notability criteria. I deleted your vandalism warning because it seemed like it could scare off a new contributor who just didn't understand the notability criteria. So I went for a welcome that was a bit more encouraging. However, I could be completely and absolutely wrong since I did only see about 2 or 3 revisions. Was there other content that could be defined as vandalism in those revisions that I did not see? Thanks for being so polite about this. Seraphim♥ Whipp 16:01, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for that - I remember the page as being so obviously speedily deletable that I couldn't reasonably assume good faith. Maybe your good faith is less easily broken than mine! Not to worry, you're probably right to try to get the user on-side. Who knows, maybe they'll be applying for admin in a few months! TrulyBlue (talk) 17:01, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Your removal of images in the Europa Barbarorum article
Hello there. I have noticed that you removed all the screenshots of the Europa Barbarorum modification for Rome: Total War on its article page. I am afraid that I cannot be up-to-speed on Wikipedia's policy on images, as I do not understand why screenshots such as this one are acceptable (despite being taken from a commercial videogame) whereas screenshots taken from a non-profit, fan-made computer game modification are not. If you could clear the issue up, and tell me exactly what needs to be done if I want the article to have screenshots in it again, that would be very much appreciated. It Is Me Here (talk) 07:15, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- If I remember correctly, I changed the tags on those images because the tags said that they were free images, when in fact they were most probably copyrighted. Unless the makers of the game get in contact with wikipedia and say that they release the images into the public domain, they can be used as fair use.
- This means the image you linked and the images from the Europa Barbarorum should be treated the same. Both require the correct licensing tags and a fair use rationale. Bear in mind that the images should be subject to critical analysis in the text or there should be a specific reason that identification will improve the reader's knowledge of the topic. On the whole, be sparing with the images and provide good reasons why they should be used. Hope this helps! :) Seraphim♥ Whipp 10:58, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- I see, so what exactly would the makers of the mod need to do (i.e. e-mail/document of some kind/etc., and what would they need to write in it) in order for the article to be able to contain screenshots once more? Also, even if they did not do that, would simply adding {{Non-free game screenshot}} suffice?
- Also, does Europa Barbarorum not count as free software, despite it being freely availably for download? It Is Me Here (talk) 10:31, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:OTRS is the process for handling these sorts of things. I've never actually used OTRS but I believe the process involves the makers sending an email to someone on this list. If they did not do that then yes, a non-free game screenshot accompanied by a fair use rationale would be required.
- As for the last point, I have no idea whether it counts as free software, but I did think in regards to images, that we specifically need permission to know that they are freely released or use them as fair-use. Seraphim♥ Whipp 09:59, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

I need your help in a debate over a nonsensical section in Pencak Silat. There's a "pop culture" section therein there that's loaded with in-universe Code Lyoko references, which are absolutely meaningless to those who are not fans of the series. I deleted some of it, and she keeps putting it back. I added an "in-universe" tag, and she promptly removed that too. Both actions could be considered vandalism, and rather than engage in an edit war, I figured I'd look you up since you've dealt with her before. I discussed the matter in a civil manner on the Pencak discussions page and her talk page, which proved akin to talking to a wall. Therefore, any help is appreciated. Beemer69 01:14, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- I've left a note on the talk page and tried to come to a middle ground by incorporating the material in the article still but reducing the "fan elements". I know it's difficult being told to "go away" and "leave" but just try to stay calm :). Seraphim♥ Whipp 13:44, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Tibet article
Hi, I tried to reach an agreement with Alexwoods (talk), however he rejected my friendly approach and again threaten a revert war. See my talk on his talk page here and his response to me here. What should I do with aggressive editors like this? --Littlebutterfly (talk) 01:28, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, from looking solely at those links, you were very friendly to him and approached this in the right way. Are there any other articles you are interested in? It might be best to work on another article until this situation calms down. I'll speak to Alexwoods too. Seraphim♥ Whipp 10:08, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Seraphim, thanks for stepping in. I am having a lot of problems with this editor making sneaky POV edits, but that obviously doesn't excuse my tone. I'll be civil towards them in the future. Just to be clear, my reversions have all been to edits where they have removed sourced information from a Tibet-related article without justification or with weak justification, for instance that the paragraph doesn't flow. Alexwoods (talk) 15:48, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

- I would suggest you tell Littlebutterfly the concerns you have about those edits. If you don't tell them, how can they adapt it? Please work co-operatively. This isn't a battle, this is just an encyclopaedia. Seraphim♥ Whipp 01:27, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. I have, and they don't seem to get it. They seem to be primarily motivated by portraying China in a positive light rather that coherent or relevant writing. I've also seen what can happen to articles when partisans take over and I don't want that to happen to the Tibet articles. Alexwoods (talk) 01:47, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Jeuce page
Hi Seraphim Whipp,
My name is Josh and I am one of the representatives of Jeuce on behalf of their label, Get.Sound.Sexy Records. Recently a wikipedia web page was in the process of being set up and you applied for a speedy deletion of the page. The page was only in the initial process of being set up.
I was just querying your reasons for this hasty action, and what we can do different in the next set up of the Jeuce page to meet your standards of a satisfactory web page?
I hope you can find the time to respond as we are eager to commence with the creation of a wikipedia web page.
Kind Regards,
Josh, Get.Sound.Sexy Records —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeucejoyrider (talk • contribs) 16:36, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there Josh :). The reason this page was deleted was because no assertion of notability was made. To satisfy wikipedia requirements it would need to meet the criteria set out in this guideline → Wikipedia:Notability (music). So for example, the band would be considered notable by wiki standards if they had "a charted hit on any national music chart". You will also need to show notability using WP:Reliable sources to back up the claims you make. I should also let you kow that there is a WP:Conflict of interest guideline.
- What I can do to make this easier, is to put the deleted material in a user sandbox (a user sub-page) for you, so that you can work on it privately and ensure that it meets the notability before placing it in wikipedia mainspace. If you need any help with anything, please let me know :). Good luck! Seraphim♥ Whipp 18:53, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

You wrote: "The A7 criteria can only be used when an article doesn't assert notability. For example Brad Heald. The notability is asserted as it says he is the bassist of an Australian band." Can you please explain how you conclude that mentioning a person's occupation constitutes an "assertion of notability"? Meachly (talk) 10:07, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- When the article about the person makes the assertion that they are from a notable band, that is a clear assertion of notability. You would need to use a different deletion method such as WP:PROD. You need to apply speedy deletion tags more carefully. Seraphim♥ Whipp 16:55, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- "When the article about the person makes the assertion that they are from a notable band, that is a clear assertion of notability." Not necessarily. That person may not have made any outstanding contribution to the band. For instance, the London Philharmonic Orchestra has had many members over the years, but we don't list every one of them on wikipedia; only those who have, in their own right, demonstrated notability. Meachly (talk) 08:42, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- But we're talking about a band with only 4 members, whose debut album entered the UK album chart at #5. We should always err on the side of caution when using speedy deletion. The speedy deletion was rejected by an admin, so it now must be deleted through a different process. I would think afd an appropriate place if you wanted to request deletion. - I've never heard of this guy, or his band, so I don't know whether he's notable or not. But the page (when I added the speedy tag) did not assert notability. It gave a brief biography of his childhood. Stated where he lived and what he did for a living. That, as I understand the word does not constitute "notability". Since I've no idea about the man, I've no intention of taking any further action; like I say, I've no idea about him (although that, in itself, suggests that any notability is limited). If I added a tag to a page whose subject turns out to be notably, then that does not construe an inappropriate use of the tag; nn-bio means no assertion of notability, not no notability. If I caused you 2 seconds of extra work to remove the tag, then I apologise, but please don't accuse me of "carelessness" when I have simply followed procedure which is clearly recommended by wikipedia policy. Thank you. Meachly (talk) 00:00, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- I had never heard of him either and yet I saw that notability was asserted; it was clearly inherited by being a member of a famous band. I believe it was careless; it would have taken 2 seconds to have clicked the linked article about the band he was from. I just wanted to make sure you knew the importance of not misplacing a speedy tag; you say you know policy so this won't happen again. This discussion can't achieve anything more. Happy editing! Wei Lei and Feng Lei
Hi, thanks for your attention to my speedy delete request of Wei Lei; it was quite late and I misread a Chinese word, that looked similar to another Chinese word, kind of like mistaking Robert Parrish the basketball player for Roberts Parish, Louisiana. Before calling it a day I clicked the box for the request for a speedy delete of the redirect, the redirect makes no sense. I will just go ahead and blank the page, no need to have "Wei Lei" redirect to Feng Lei. Thanks again. --Mr Accountable (talk) 03:48, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Gooddays
- I just blocked for 2 hrs for gaming the system. Future blocks will be considerably longer if it resumes. I had been examining the edits right at the time you sent your message! If you track down any motive, please let me know specifically by emailDGG (talk) 17:08, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Gooddays
A message from your friendly sockpuppet, one of several you own: I've archived the AN thread for trolling. I just wish I could do something more about it, but people hate me for not being cheery enough... create another thread about him if he continues. Sceptre (talk) 20:47, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- LOL! I have a sock puppet army at my disposal; lucky me! I was just busy writing a rebuttal about being accused of having "emotional problems". This took me a few attempts before I thought it was polite enough to click "save page". Thanks for stepping in :). And for what it's worth, had I had been around when your RfA was up, I would have supported :). Seraphim♥ Whipp 20:55, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- Having emotional problems shouldn't stop you from adminning effectively - I've always joked that Wikipedia needs more Canadian male-to-female transsexual bisexual editors with clinical depression who are dominatrices in their spare time. Sceptre (talk) 21:27, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

- Wait, wait, you would not've supported me before me closing this thread? And closing troll threads is new to me? Shocking! :o Sceptre (talk) 22:37, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- Lol course I would have. You have good instincts and good judgement to back it up. Seraphim♥ Whipp 22:47, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- Same with you. At least you're not getting sucked into the Jack=Davenbelle thing. (Coincidence does not a sockpuppet make, but all this has happened before and all this will happen again) Sceptre (talk) 14:00, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- It's a shame this is happening. Seraphim♥ Whipp 14:18, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Shame the E&C case was one-sided against TTN. I would've rather had TTN and Jack restricted on one side, Pixelface and WC on the other (to be fair, Jack isn't the most acute of people, though I agree with him). I think that would've more easily solved the squabbling than just restricting TTN. Sceptre (talk) 14:34, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- I second that. I was disappointed about the lack of sanctions as there was a lot of contentious editing on all sides. Even after the arb, Pixelface displayed some very pointy behaviour. Seraphim♥ Whipp 15:09, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the blocks, but could you also delete the edits for 76.193.80.105 (talk · contribs). They're all outings and some of them include the name in the edit summary. Thanks! --Bobblehead (rants) 22:46, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
