Thanks for catching that. I just changed it back to the original wording. I tend to write messy, looooong sentences....in this case I confused myself. Feel free to jump in and provide a better version. My source for this is actually a book "The Eighth Day of Creation" by Horace Freeland Judson. Judson cited the Science article that I added as a reference. I have never actually seen the Science article. Image:Nasty prod

The prod policy proposal calls for using the process only to delete articles; images should still go through the standard WP:IfD image deletion process. I believe this is because image deletion is irreversible, technically; a new copy of the image has to be uploaded if the deletion is incorrect. So the prod shortcut isn't to be used. Ah, yes: indeed. I saw that edit from the "new" user, but decided I had had enough stress for the night and got up to take a break. "Aussie Bob" is the Wikipedia:Long_term_abuse/North_Carolina_vandal; I am 100% sure. Once in a while he makes legitimate edits, but it's never long before he starts vandalising again. (I can give you the diffs establishing the exact connection if you want.) Usually, but not always, I revert all of his edits since they're not trustworthy. Thanks for your help! I think the main thing is not to be in a rush. I saw the April 4 edit and reverted then checked what else they had done. Saw the first couple of lines in the Tom Metzger reversion and assumed they were doing a whitewash of the guy. Of course when you read the whole thing it's obvious nonsense. Examples of the jokes illustrate the phenomenon for the reader in a stark, vivid, and honest manner. If it is wrong to include examples of jokes, then its wrong to inclide quotes about Mr. Reeve or -for that matter- events in his life where his tireless efforts in furthering the cause for stem cell research. What seems to be the problem for you here is the brutal truth. It is ugly, but it is true. I commend you for expressing regard for Mr. Reeve's honor and dignity. I too share in your utter disgust that jokes like these have been proliferated through mass media/internet/etc. However, showing people these jokes is what ultimately must been done. Like Hitler's evils during the Holocaust must be studied so as to gain understanding into the very nature of evil, so must this phenomenon. We must learn and help others learn for the betterment of the human race. Leave the jokes, for though ugly, it is the honest truth. Thank you, however, for keeping quadraplegics in mind. It's comforting to me personally that people of your calibur exist!

Thanks, and no, you've not irritated me. "Descendants", huh? I think i may actually be able to remember that one: lawyers tend to pretensiously pronounce "defendants" with a short (or is it broad?) a, rather than with the schwa that real people use, and i think you've probably permanently (even tho only slightly) improved my spelling, via that analogy. Hello. I see that you already spoke to this editor. I have now become entangled in an edit war with him/her. I am trying to do a Wikipedia:Requests for comment the FIRST step in mediations since this user has said he will revert NO MATTER what. Its more just trying to learn to use Wiki procedures than anything. Man this is time consuming to a newbie like me. It seems that you would have to also sign the form. • • Hi Shenme, thanks for ALL the effort on the above RfC and you are RIGHT I had NO idea how bad it really was. Again the funny thing is that I was/am willing to work with this guy to include his edits as long as his sources them....Yes that RfC Monicasdude is OVER the top. I tried to follow it but my head almost exploded :) . This Wikipedia project is SO burocratic(sp) but I guess it has to be when potentially 3/4/?? Billion people can edit a resource about ALL the information EVER known to mankind which might lead to one or two differences of opinions :)...I have found that there is SO MUCH unsourced/really questionable facts in this project in the SMALL/"who cares" articles. I have recently become really fasinated with biographies because as the John Seigenthaler Sr. Wikipedia biography controversy , we/you/me/Wikis really need to get it "right" or at least SHOW good effort. Its funny how the "contraversial" topics/issues/people have footnotes and sources out the ying yang but others are a free for all...check out the early years of this bio Jacqueline Susann..there are NO sources for ANY of it...anyways, my lastest "battle" (besides Metzger :) ) has been that about 5-6 months ago, 3 anonymous IPs 81.217.115.112 and 128.195.91.223 and 70.249.19.228 showed up and started to do this for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/128.195.91.223, replacing American with Jewish-American in EVERY biography of anybody Jewish or "suspected" of being Jewish. These were the ONLY edits that they seemed to do. Alot of them went unnoticed/unquestioned except for the more notable biographies. I found this troubling for a number of different reason. I brought it up and actually saw that another newbie brought it up in a few differnt discussion areas but really didn't hear anything back. Anyways, this is another issue that really isn't "mine" but I it seemed that somebody was "pushing" an agenda in here..surprise surprise....Anyways enough of my rambling and THANKS again on ALL your efforts with this RfC since the editor in question REALLY doesn't seem worth it....If I can every return the favor or TRY to give an impartial opinion on ANY topic please let me know! Hello there! Now, try to understand that I appreciate your attempts to defraud my good name and make me out to be some sort of monster that makes little girls cry for no reason, they really do hurt. I am not, as you seem to think, a vandal, or whatever it is you call an honest man around here, but merely a brave soul trying to right wrongs and cure ills. Being a seemingly likable and fair individual, you will surely understand why I must ask you to stop trying to vandalize the "genka" article into misrepresenting the honest truth. No hard feelings, but if you persist, I'm afraid I will have to go look up how to report people, or whatever it is you do when someone's messing with your hard work. I'll go revert it now. Okay, obviously I stopped reading at the "improve the article" point.

When notifying people that I've {{prod}}ed an article, I've described it as a non-intense, non-confrontational process. I didn't realize how small that gnat could be to the unimpressed.

Have you seen anywhere where the prod-to-afd conversion rate is being discussed? So far it looks like using prod merely delays the application of afd. I'm not really convinced it helps, although it is certainly a 'nicer' way to hint that an article is in trouble. Shenme 19:05, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Regarding the other revert, Its a program on my computer that did that, Ive been working on stopping it from checking wikipedia and it seemed to have stoped, up to what you found. It's definitely a problem trying to get something actually effective from issuing the T1-T4 warnings. I mean, even though the message is presumably displayed at the top of their browser...as you have said, the vandalism is most likely already done. In the end, I do think that hammering them with warnings makes it easier for an administrator to see that there is a pattern of vandalism and issue a warning quicker. In the short term, I think that this is probably the best way to go.

In the longer term, however, I think that we need to do more to actually make warnings more notable. One idea I've had is an alternative message appearing on the screen when you have received a warning (in lieu of the "you have new messages" dialog). It would state the warning in a way that would be difficult to avoid (perhaps an exclamation point?).

Another idea would be to set up some sort of automated or community blocking procedure based on a specific variables of a user's edits. For instance, an anonymous user that performs a repetitive edit (such as copying and pasting the same url repeatedly into 20 articles) would be blocked for a very short time (maybe 5 minutes like you said).

One last idea is that; users that had received t4 warnings from 3 separate non-admin users could possibly be blocked for 5 minutes...not long enough to keep them from wikipedia, but long enough to keep them from repeating their vandalism. These could be appealed in a standard way.

As an aside, I find it very frustrating that User:Tawkerbot2 does not use the standard warning templates. This also leads to the phenomena that you originally referenced.

I removed the reference to animal blood types because the page starts with: This article is about human blood types. Autogynephilia

I posted this on the talk page in response to your actions. "This article was merged and if one wants to demerge it they should first talk about it in the post merger article. Based on the fact that the article was properly merged after lengthly discussion I will not redirect this to the article on BBL theory. Know this that the I brokered between an ardent critic, and a devoted anonymous supporter was very hard to do. Please don't pee on my parade."

The reasons for the merge. The main reason for the merge was that Autogynephillia makes no sense at all unless one is also aware of the idea of the Homosexual transsexual. The whole intellectual idea seems like 100% gibberish. Like trying to do algebra without subtraction and division. Like trying to categorize everyihing as an apple when clearly oranges exist. Sorry if the above seems abrasive. The problem with the autogynephillia article not simply being a redirect is that such pages have a tendency to evolve into full articles. Like the last Autogynephillia article any new article just about autogynephillia would evolve into a rant about how the whole theory is garbage, etc... Which is not what an encyclopedia article should be like. It should be about the whole theory. I have to admit I thought the theory was garbage when I first read of it and years latter because all I had heard was the autogynephillia aspect and knew that was not me or the majority of Ts's I had known untill then. --Hfarmer 17:33, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

I undid that. Note plus link thing because just what I thought would happen did happen. Namely the article evolved into a stub in need of expansion. Which would have lead to a separate article on Autogynephilia. What purpose that would serve I do not know. The term autogynephile was coined in terms of the theory due to Blanchard. At first I started just wanting to simply mention the existence of HSTS in the AGP article. Then I created a separte article and moves were made to destroy it. List of beat 'em ups undeletion request

I have nominated List of beat 'em ups to be undeleted, under the reasoning that it is not redundant to the category; it contains many games which are not covered by the category, and may never be able to be covered by it. In addition, the list can do more than the category. It can put date, developer, release date, system, et al., useful especially for articles that would be difficult to create an article for. I hope that you will vote on this and hopefully support its undeletion, on the basis that it does something that makes it not redundant to the category.
