Wikipedia:Maplink
Maplink (or Mapframe) is a tool for creating interactive maps on Wikimedia projects.
Creating a map
editIn order to create an interactive map in an article, you need to have one of the below forms of data:
- coordinates, either supplied or from Wikidata
- a Wikidata ID for a shape or linear element
- data stored in GeoJSON format in a data file
- raw GeoJSON, preferably transcluded from another page
Templates to choose from
edit- {{Maplink}} – Automated, using OpenStreetMap maps
- {{Mapbox}} – Derivation just displaying a link to a map
- {{Infobox mapframe}} – Version with simpler code intended for infobox use
- You may not need a template – if you are adding a map into one of these supported infoboxes
Once you have chosen a template, follow its documentation for help with adjustments and implementation. Each template has similar yet specific parameters. If you have issues or want to report a bug, visit Module talk:Mapframe (you may need to report issues with OpenStreetMap at their forum, and more technical issues on Phabricator).
