Feminine dual form

Apparently there is discord about the feminine dual form.

هٰتَانِ‏‎ (hātāni) is given by Arne A. Ambros, Wolfdietrich Fischer, Ron Buckley.

هَاتَانِ‏ (hātāni) is given by Hans Wehr, Karin C. Ryding, Faruk Abu-Chacra, Ольга Александровна Берникова, El Said Badawi/Michael Carter/Adrian Gully/Maher Awad.

The defective feminine dual forms are currently marked as misspellings on the respective pages.

Funnily, while Ron Buckley gives هٰتَانِ‏‎ (hātāni), the examples in his grammar Modern Literary - A Reference Grammar which he has collected from a list of books use the form هَاتَانِ‏ (hātāni). But Arne A. Ambros gives هٰتَانِ‏‎ (hātāni) in his exercises.

Possibly the use now differs by countries, and some get it instilled in school that the defective spelling is wrong while in other countries it is standard?

The best I have comes from Carl Paul Caspari (1887): He just gives both forms. But I have nothing explicit about the relations of the two usages, not to speak modern.
