Etymology

From Old Albanian ëmbush, from Proto-Albanian *en-busa,[1] or *am-buśś-it,[2] from Proto-Indo-European *bu-n-s-, nasalized weak stem of *beus- (to blow up, puff out, swell) (compare Ancient Greek βυνέω (bunéō, to stuff), Old High German pfoso (bag)).
