Daniil Medvedev is the defending champion.[1]

Hubert Hurkacz, Casper Ruud, Jannik Sinner (as an alternate replacing Matteo Berrettini) and Cameron Norrie (as an alternate replacing Stefanos Tsitsipas) are making their debuts at the event.[2][3]

Sinner became the first player in the Year-end championships since Pablo Carreño Busta in 2017 to play as an alternate, the youngest player to win a match since Lleyton Hewitt in 2000. He is also the youngest player to compete since Juan Martin del Potro in 2008 and the first alternate to win a match since Janko Tipsarević in 2011.[4] This was the first edition of the ATP finals to feature both of its first two alternate players since 2005.

Berrettini retired from his match against Alexander Zverev after sustaining an abdominal injury and later withdrew from the tournament.[5][6]. Tsitsipas withdrew because of an elbow injury.

This is only the third time that both alternates have been required to replace players in the ATP Finals. The previous times were the 1998 ATP Tour World Championships and the 1997 ATP Tour World Championships.

† Following ATP rules, Berrettini's retirement against Zverev was counted as a straight-set loss in determining round robin standings.

Standings are determined by: 1. Number of wins; 2. Number of matches played (e.g. a 2-1 record beats a 2-0 record); 3. In two-players-ties, head-to-head records; 4. In three-players-ties, percentage of sets won, then percentage of games won; 5. ATP rankings[7]
