Bialystok Puppet Theater (Template:Lang-pl) is one of the oldest Polish puppet theaters. It is located in 1 Kalinowskiego Street in Białystok. His repertoire includes both performances for children and puppetry adaptations of world literature for adults. Białystok Puppet Theatre, due to high artistic level, was recognized as one of the best puppet scenes in Poland.

History

Białystok Puppet Theatre was officially established in 1953, when the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage granted it a subsidy and the status of a professional stage with the name Świerszcz

. However, its tradition dates back to pre-war times, when in 1937, an amateur puppet theater was founded in Bialystok, founded by Helena Pacewicz and Piotr Sawicki, who later became the first managers of the theatre.[1]

The nationalization of the theater took place in 1960. In 1972, the Adult Stage was created (the first in Poland). The Puppet Theater Actor Study was founded in 1974 (later transformed into the Puppetry Department of the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw in Warsaw).[1]

Between 1975 and 1979, the first building in Poland intended for the puppet theater was erected. It houses three stages: Large (200 seats), Small (100 seats) and Rehearsal Room (40 seats).
