Claudette Colbert, born Lily Claudette Chauchoin (1903 - 1996) was an actress.

Born in Paris, France, her family brought her to the U.S. in 1910.

Her first film role was in Frank Capra's For the Love of Mike (1927). With her heart-shaped face, wide eyes, and aristocratic manner, Ms. Colbert transcended type, making her equally convincing in diverse roles. Her versatility led to major parts in the top motion picture and one of the biggest box-office stars of her time.

In 1934 she won an Academy Award for Best Actress for It Happened One Night. Her last film was Parrish in 1961.
