Etawah Safari Park (formerly Lion Safari Etawah) is an upcoming drive-through safari park in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, India.[1] It will be one of the biggest Safari Park in Asia with an area of 350 hectares.[2][3] It is situated in Etawah, which is a town at 2 hour driving distances from Agra, about 5-hour driving distances from national capital New Delhi and about 3-hour driving distances from state capital Lucknow.
Multiple Safari and Visitor Facilitation Centre
Etawah Safari Park is categorised in Multiple Safari, Visitor Facilitation Centre and Asiatic Lion Breeding Centre. Multiple Safari includes a lion safari, a deer safari, an antelope safari, a bear safari and a leopard safari.[4][5]
It also has a Visitor Facilitation Centre (also known as 4D theatre), which is a multimedia museum which includes digital sinage, large format displays, 4D education theatre for informing and guiding visitors.[6][7]
Opening phases
First phase
At first phase, only 4 out of 5 safari (except lion safari) will open for visitors. The safaris who will be open are named deer safari, antelope safari, bear safari and leopard safari. Although lion safari will not open at first phase, but it is possible that visitors can see lions by a special visit to lion breeding centre of park.[8]
Second phase
This will be activate after CZA's final approval to open lion safari. After it, all 5 safaris of Etawah Safari Park will open to welcome visitors.[8]
History
It was proposed in 2003 as Lion Safari Etawah and got all approvals in 2006 during the government of Mulayam Singh Yadav, then chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.[9] Construction started in May 2012 during the government of Akhilesh Yadav, then chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. The park was designed by Spanish company Art Urbà Landscaping and Design SL. At first 6 lions were migrated here in 2014. In 2015 Deer Safari, Antelope Safari, Bear Safari and Leopard Safari were added and it was renamed as Etawah Safari Park.[9][10] Deer Safari was inaugurated in 6 October 2016.[11][12] Along with all remaining safaris, Etawah Safari Park was inaugurated on 1 Jun 2018,[13][14] but it is not open for public yet.[15][16]

Rail
Etawah Safari Park is around 5 km from Etawah Junction railway station, which lies on the Kanpur–Delhi section of Howrah–Gaya–Delhi line and Howrah–Delhi main line. The city is a stop for many trains, including Kanpur New Delhi Shatabdi Express and Lucknow Swarna Shatabdi Express.
Roads
NH 19, Agra Lucknow Expressway and NH 719 are major highways of Etawah. Nearest bus station is 4 km away. A network of state transport buses connect Etawah to all the major cities within the state of Uttar Pradesh and nabring states.
