Channel Awesome members, along with Republic of Molossia president Kevin Baugh, in their special Kickassia

Channel Awesome is a Naperville, Illinois-based online media production company. The shows produced by its subdivisions, the most notable being That Guy with the Glasses, consist mostly of humorous video reviews.

Blistered Thumbs

Blistered Thumbs is a subdivision of That Guy with the Glasses focusing on video games. They produce comedy, spoofs, and sketches, review video games and produce a weekly podcast called Transmission Awesome. The subdivision now has its own website.

  • AngryJoe (Joe Vargas) produces material that presents current issues within the gaming community. He focuses on topics that are relevant to gamer culture. The Angry Joe Show is concerned primarily with the Xbox 360, which is his unofficial trademark console. Joe is also a former co-host on "Transmission Awesome", who had to leave due to his new position as editor-in-chief of Blistered Thumbs. He is referred to as the one who "represents the gamers".
  • Ashens (Stuart Ashen) is a doctor of psychology from England. Ashens does reviews of old, obscure games (Terrible old games you've probably never heard of). On Channel Awesome, only a limited amount of the Doctor's material is featured (such as his reviews, sketches, and also his small television series on BBC, "Ashen's Tech Dump"). Ashens is well known on YouTube for his reviews of the POP Station, a counterfeit PSP.
  • Benzaie (Benjamin Daniel) is a contributor from France and is the creator and host of Games You Might Don't Know (But Are Still Pretty Damn Sweet) in which he features old classic obscure games that he deems noteworthy. Since joining the site, he created more shows, including FAQ You!, Game Soundtracks You Might Don't Know, Top 5, 5 Second Games, GameFap, and Benzaie's Hard Corner (Created after Benzaie's huge passion for heavy metal music). Benzaie does have a co-host for these shows, a plush toy bear named Beary. Benzaie also features interviews with game developers throughout Europe with videos of the French gaming website Digital Games (where he apparently works as a reporter). He translates the interviews into English either by subtitle, or have another contributor do a voiceover.
  • Bennett The Sage (Bennett White) reviews new video game releases, good and bad, primarily for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and formerly hosted a show called Masterpiece Fanfic Theater where he reads "the best of the worst of fan fiction." He is also the host of "Animé Abandon" which focuses on random anime from the land of the rising sun that most people don't know about, though there are the occasional mainstream (i.e. Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, and Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend). Bennett also co-starred in one of "AskThatGuy"'s episodes taking over the questions and answering them in ways that even AskThatGuy found offensive and distressing.
  • ChaosD1 (Jonathan Burkhardt) reviews MMOs (like Maple Story and League of Legends) on his show the "MMO Grinder".
  • FarFromSubtle (Fraser Agar) is the creator of Awesome Video Games, a show where old games are looked at in the style of video game commercials of the 1980s and 1990s. A spin-off, Video Games Awesome, features the AVG cast playing more recent video games and giving live commentary, including hosting weekly community building sessions in Minecraft.
  • Guru Larry & Wez (Larry Bundy Jr and Wesley Lock), previously known as ScrewAttack Europe, and presenters on the European gaming TV network XLEAGUE.TV present Wez and Larry's Top Tens, Guru Larry's Retro Corner, Games Yanks Can't Wank, Films Yanks Can't Wank, Gamed1k and video game reviews from a UK point of view. Like Ashens, Guru Larry and Wez feature obscure old English games that many people outside of the UK do not know about.
  • Heisanevilgenius (Tom White) is the creator of "Weird Video Games", where he looks at weird aspects of video games.

  • PeanutButterGamer (Austin Hargrave) does a variety of gaming videos. Reviews, Top 10's, and original shows such as "The G-Files and "To Kill an Avatar". Both JonTron and PeanutButterGamer are the founders of Normal Boots.com (now shutdown)
  • JewWario (Justin Carmical) reviews Japanese import games in a show called "You Can Play This". The idea behind the show is to show the audience how to play simple Japanese import titles even without excessive knowledge of the language. He also hosts a news show called "The Gaming Pipeline" (formally known as Mario's Pipeline) which also features his co-host, Shuki. The show is a topic based discussion panel where the two hosts call attention to issues in the gaming community, such as games being art, or the importance of achievements and trophies in online gaming. Jew Wario is also a co-host the podcast, "Spine Breakers".
  • Lee Davidge, from Tennessee, is the host of Still Gaming, a video game review show that reviews games from all eras, from the Atari 2600 to the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360. "Still Gaming" and most other shows by Lee portray him in still photographs that are edited together to shape a sense of motion, rather than showing the host in actual video. Lee is also co-host to the podcast "The Lee and Z Show" with Lindsey Briggs.
  • Dena Natali talks about certain video games (usually survival horror) on her show, The Game Den which is similar to "Still Gaming" in that it is also done only with still photographs. Dena is the host to "The Film Den" where she reviews and discusses themes of horror films, and "Pixels as Big as Cats" in which she reviews games on the Atari 2600.
  • PushingUpRoses (Sarah Wilson) hosts Let's Play Shortys, with playthroughs of games - usually with PawDugan or ToddInTheShadows as guests - and Vinyl Destination, with musical reviews and lists. In addition, she has a side-show called "Debugged," which looks at movies and TV episodes about hacking.

  • Hope Within Chaos (Sean Fausz), hosts Epic Fail, a show where he tells about shocking stuff found on the internet, usually YouTube videos. He also hosts "Sean's Game Reviews"

  • Game Jams (Kenny Farino) GameJams is a video game music remix podcast. Kenny Farino is a producer for Cheshire Cat Studios

She hosts a variety of shows, including her own anime review show JesuOtaku Anime Reviews, Inbetweens (in-depth, analytical looks into anime series), and a Fruits Basket audio adaptation.
  • The Last Angry Geek (Brian Heinz) is a reviewer of comic books and the television series Doctor Who. He occasionally produces comedy bits for the site, and partnered with Rob and Doug Walker on their official RiffTrax projects. His shows include Comic Book Issues, You Know Who, and True Internet Story.
  • Linkara (Lewis Lovhaug) is a comic book critic based in Minnesota who started with his own blog called Atop the Fourth Wall (AT4W) and doing movie reviews for The Agony Booth. Linkara adapted his blog into a video series under the same name, where he reviews bad comic books. He also created 5 Panel Comics, summarizing comics in a way similar to Doug Walker's 5 Second Movies, and started a series called "The History of Power Rangers", in which he summarizes, reviews and analyzes every season of the Power Rangers television series (in a format inspired by SF Debris). He recently began another segment, A Quick Look At, where, as the title suggests, he gives a quick 6-8 minute long review of a movie, usually one that he likes. Unlike other review series, Linkara has a running story arc on his main show, Atop the 4th Wall. Linkara is also known for his non-usage of extreme profanity.
  • MarzGurl (Kaylyn Dicksion) lives in San Antonio, Texas. She is an anime fan, usually attending numerous conventions. Her videos include A History of Animation, What's That Anime?, Translation Terrors and Anime News Editorial. Currently, she posts videos discussing current issues with the Anime and Manga worlds. Like That Chick with the Goggles, she joined the site after being a runner up for the Nostalgia Chick position. She did a series introspective on all of the works of Don Bluth, covering all of the animator's films as well as the video games he has worked on and sequels to his works, even if he was not involved. One of these was a running review of each of the Land Before Time sequels. She is fluent in Japanese, as seen on Suburban Knight.
  • Team Four Star consists of various amateur animators and voice actors from the United Kingdom, Canada, and America. Together, they produce DragonBall Z: The Abridged Series and comically re-dub various episodes of the anime. For a portion of 2009, Team Four Star faced suspension by YouTube under legal claims from Toei Animation. They have since moved to their own site.
    • Lanipator (Nick Landis) is a scriptwriter and voice actor of Team Four Star and he does a segment on the site called "Outside the Otaku" where he comments on popular manga and anime. He also does an abridged series of his own on YouTube entitled YuYu Hakusho: The Abridged Series.
    • MasakoX (Lawrence Simpson) is one of the actors of Team Four Star and he has made a six part series on tips for voice acting called MasaVox, as well as an anime review series called Anifile. He, along with Vegeta3986, made Naruto: The Abridged Series on YouTube, until his resignation from the series in June 2011.
  • Suede (William DuFresne (Formally known as That Dude in the Suede) hails from New Zealand, and currently has two long-running series: Animenia, which looks at specific anime and general trends in the medium; and AMV Heaven, in which he showcases music videos consisting of anime clips. He has also made several 5 Second Movies. Suede went on hiatus in January 2009 due to his affiliation with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, going on a two-year mission for his church.[1] However, in June 2011 he returned in the site's third anniversary video, Suburban Knights.[2] His regular videos started soon after.
  • Vangelus (Chris Ho) reviews toys and is the host of the podcast Vaudiosonic.
  • Y Ruler of Time (Nikolas Freeman) hosts Read Right to Left, a series in which he reviews manga.

    • Bum Reviews, reviews of current movies by an overenthustiastic beggar, Chester A. Bum.
    • Ask That Guy With The Glasses, where Doug answers absurd questions that mostly verge on black comedy.
    • Video Game Confessions, where Dominic, a bartender with a Cockney accent, recalls encounters he had with classic video game characters.
    • Demo Reel, A mockumentary about a group of amateur filmmakers remaking popular films to eventually strike big and become rich. It stars an enthusiastic director by the name of Donnie DuPre (played by Doug), an actress by the name of Rebecca Stoné (the accent is silent), and Donnie's writer by the name of Tacoma Narrows. A running story arc is included on the show. The new series premiered with a one-hour episode on October 30, 2012, with a parody of Christopher Nolan's Batman films.
    • Sibling Rivalry, a review show with both Rob and Doug Walker where they review recent and nostalgic movies much like Siskel and Ebert.
    • Shut Up and Talk, a talk show where Doug interviews people. The first guest on the program was former child actor Mara Wilson.
  • Blockbuster Buster (Eric "ERod" Rodriguez) reviews bad blockbuster films, primarily bad sequels/remakes of popular films as well as bad film adaptations of novels, TV series, cartoons, comic books and video games. He originated from YouTube in 2010, started a website, Space Monkey Mafia Studios, and became a member of the site in September 5, 2011.
  • The Cinema Snob (Brad Jones), does reviews that focuses primarily on obscure exploitation films and z-list movies before 1996 (with occasional post-1995 movies such as Violent Shit III and The Mother's Day Remake). Brad Jones also hosts Brad Tries, where he and his friends eat unusual food and drinks (such as durian, or old soft drinks such as Crystal Pepsi); The Bruno Mattei Show, in which he and friends discuss the works of exploitation director Bruno Mattei in chronological order; DVD-R Hell, where (as himself) he reviews failed television pilots and specials that can only be found on home video recordings (including "Heil Honey I'm Home!"); and Kung Tai Ted, where he plays a martial artist who studies cheesy fight scenes. In a spin-off show, 80's Dan, which parodies a 1980's sitcom, he plays Dan, a man who lived in the late 1980s until he suddenly and unexplainedly time-traveled to present day, where he forces his new friends to watch 80s-related media.
  • Coldguy (Patrick Burden), along with being a former co-host of Transmission Awesome and founder of his own books and literature-based podcast, Spine Breakers, is the host of Foreign Delicacies, a review show of foreign films.
  • CR (Chad Rocco) is the host of Familiar Faces, a comedic/informative look at television cartoon programs primarily from the 1980s and 1990s, and focuses particularly on lesser-known characters from those shows. He also created There Will Be Cake, a review show of internet flash games. He is a graphic artist, and took over illustration duties for Linkara's webcomic Lightbringer. His face was never actually seen, until the Nostalgia Critic revealed his face, in episode 36.
  • Dark Maze Studios (Ed Glaser) produces the animated series Press Start Adventures, as well as the 1980s style sci-fi series Robogirl, and the "remakesploitation" review show Deja View. Glaser also produces with Brad Jones a series parodying Godfrey Ho's ninja films called Ninja The Mission Force, which won a Telly Award in 2012.[3]
  • Diamanda Hagan (Xaria Byron) is the Northern Irish host of Diamanda Hagan: Lecher Bitch, a review show that focuses on obscure films, usually in the exploitation and horror genres, as well as highly critical recaps of the BBC series Bonekickers. Diamanda is the Empress of "Haganistan" and is a supervillain who wears white makeup akin to The Crow, with access to a wide variety of torture implements, weapons and an army of clones in black masks referred to as "the Minions", who she frequently maims, tortures and kills to burn off stress.
  • Film Brain (Mathew Buck) is the English[4] host of Bad Movie Beatdown, a film review show that explores movies that are considered outside the usual demographic for The Nostalgia Critic (usually action films and romantic comedies of the 2000s). Along with his show, Film Brain also posts written reviews that are not as comedic as the show, but are more to the point. These have largely been discontinued in favor of Projector, where Mathew reviews recent film releases in the UK (usually ahead of their releases in America). Film Brain as the character he plays is a huge fan of The Nostalgia Critic, sucking up to him at every opportunity pandering to his every whim, and the character is currently a rival of Film Conscience.
  • Film Conscience (Luke Mochrie) reviews movies but lets "the voices of his head do the talking". The two "voices" (Phillip & Ringo) mirror how he felt the film positively and negatively, together with some minor sides of his personality, like Lucas the inner child and Wretch the inner horror fan. A native of Toronto, Canada, Luke is the son of comedian Colin Mochrie and Debra McGrath.
  • Iron Liz (Elizabeth Skochil) is Linkara's former girlfriend, with frequent appearances on Atop The Fourth Wall. Her review show is Pen and Paper Corner, looking at mainstream and rare role-playing games and analyzing factors such as character creation and gameplay.
  • Leon Thomas is the host of Renegade Cut, an analytical series which discusses various topics related to film. He formerly hosted Heart of Gaming, a show about flaws in game design or gaming culture for Blistered Thumbs, but discontinued that series in July 2012 when he began Renegade Cut for TGWTG.
  • MikeJ (Mike Jeavons) is the host of Shameful Sequels, a review show that pokes fun at terrible and unnecessary Hollywood sequels to popular franchises. He often introduces himself with "Hello, I'm a British person" and often includes well-known British stereotypes (such as drinking tea).
  • Nash (Nash Bozard) is the host of What the Fuck Is Wrong with You?, which looks at and comments on ridiculous news stories, as well as Musical Chair, a show which takes a look at singers and musical groups he considers underrated. He also comments on lackluster original and occasionally newer episodes of Doctor Who. Nash has also hosted an internet radio program, Radio Dead Air, since 2000. Nash - along with his friend Tara Deenihan and, on occasion, his girlfriend and fellow TGWTG contributor Hope "JesuOtaku" Chapman - hosts a live version of What the Fuck is Wrong with You, produced weekly for the Monday Radio Dead Air broadcast and subsequently uploaded to TGWTG the following Friday.
  • The Sad Panda (Julien Diaz) along with providing music to a number of different shows on the site such as Phelous, Panda also does a variety of different sketches including Forget About It where he reviews famous movies such as Ghostbusters and Pirates of the Caribbean getting numerous details humorously wrong. He also reviews music in his show The Sound Pit and co-shots a spoof Q&A show, formerly with Welshy.
  • The Nostalgia Chick (Lindsay Ellis) is a female counterpart of the Nostalgia Critic. Originally the show mainly featured reviews of nostalgic movies and television series targeted at girls, such as Pocahontas and Babysitters Club, and featured a review formula very similar to the Nostalgia Critic. Eventually the Nostalgia Chick moved to a more analytical reviewing style and started reviewing films like Dune, Armageddon, Showgirls and Freddy Got Fingered.
    • Team NChick: Videos posted by the Chick's best friends Nella and Elisa (Antonella Inserra and Elisa Hansen) include NChick Labs and "Maven of the Eventide" (hosted exclusively by Elisa, which covers vampire movies). Both frequently appear in Ellis' Nostalgia Chick videos.
  • Oancitizen (Kyle Kallgren) hosts Brows Held High, a show which reviews so called "arthouse" films like Dušan Makavejev 's W.R.: Mysteries of the Organism and Nicolas Roeg 's The Man Who Fell to Earth (the first musical review on the site). He is often tormented by Diamanda Hagan, including her referring to him by the false name "Ralph" Oancitizen.
  • Obscurus Lupa (Allison Pregler) is the host of Obscurus Lupa Presents, a show where she takes a look at what she calls "Z-Grade" movies.
  • Paw Dugan (Paul Schuler) is a video producer and currently co-hosts Transmission Awesome. A self-stylized "music guru", Paw hosts a variety of shows dealing with music and/or video games, including Full Circle, Great Moments in Video Game Music, and Wi-Fidelity. Recently, he has begun reviewing Musical movies in the aptly titled Music Movies, where he praises the best songs and the worst songs of said movie.
  • Phelous (Phelan Porteous) is from Nova Scotia, Canada and hosts various shows, including Mortal Komedy, a Mortal Kombat parody series, Dragonball CG , a flash cartoon series that parodies Dragonball Z, and a review series in which he comments on both obscure and well-known horror films. He is known by his trademarks of inserting his own name into each title of the films he reviews and his frequent deaths in the frame story of his reviews, as well as his complete deadpan, sarcastic delivery to almost everything the site subjects him to. He also frequently uses self-referential meta-humor, acknowledging and mocking the conceit of the framing sketches he and other contributors employ, then making fun of the "meta" aspects in turn.
  • The Rap Critic (Daren Jackson) reviews rap songs, ranging from older hits from the early 1990s to modern songs, and is also a rapper in his own right under the name Masta Artisan. In addition to his reviews, he also has Worst Lyrics I've Ever Heard which showcases bad rap lines in songs that otherwise wouldn't get full reviews and has some of his music videos featured on the site as well. He also occasionally reviews films starring pop stars.
  • ThatSciFiGuy (Leo Thompson) reviews science fiction films, often assisted by Dr. Wiki, an anthropomorphized avatar of this site. Title cards are drawn by webcartoonist Nick Wright, creator of Treading Ground and The Idle State.
  • Skitch (Michael Schiciano) provides music to various shows on the site.
  • Todd In The Shadows (Todd Nathanson) reviews current pop songs of questionable quality, plays the piano and wears a gray hoodie in order to keep his true identity secret. When appearing on camera and with lighting, he usually wears a black mask to keep a reasonable amount of his identity covered. He hosts two series: the standard Todd's Pop Song Reviews and One Hit Wonderland, an analysis of various "one hit wonder" artists including their major hit and other further music by the artist. He occasionally reviews films starring pop singers or pop song musicals, such as Glitter and From Justin to Kelly. The character is in a fictional love triangle with Obscurus Lupa and Nostalgia Chick, which was teased to be resolved in the Fourth Year Anniversary.
  • Welshy (Mat Williams) reviews a mix of horror films as well as films and TV shows from his childhood, generally putting a positive spin on his reviews. He also releases short videos listing what he likes or doesn't like about a certain subject and formerly co-hosted and co-wrote Sad Panda Q&A with Sad Panda.

Podcasts

Channel Awesome is home to many Podcasts:

  • Transmission Awesome: Hosted by Rollo T, Pushing Up Roses, Paw and Y Ruler of Time. The show focuses on the site TGWTG itself. Transmission Awesome usually has a special guest (usually a featured talent) and talks with the guest about his/her work. The show has a set structure in which the guest is introduced, site news is recapped and discussed, the musical break (known as the "Paw's Button"), the Awesome Blog of the Week, and Forum Focus. Former co-hosts have included Angry Joe (Joe Vargas), Hope Within Chaos (Sean Fausz), Coldguy (Patrick Burden), Mike Michaud, Dr. Gonzo (Billy Smith) and ThatAussieGuy.
  • Lee and Z Show: Hosted by Lee Davidge and Lindsey "Z" Briggs, the show focuses on gaming culture and various topics that are important to the two hosts. Every episode the two play a game "Turbo Top Three". Due to Lee's absence, there have only been 10 episodes, the 10th being the 2 Hour Special.
  • Scam Police: Hosted by Rollo T and Mike, the show focuses on Pulling Scams and Crank Calls on actual scammers. This show only has one episode in which the two call a man known to scamming people for money over the phone and attempt to get the man to confess.
  • Spine Breakers: Hosted by Coldguy, JewWario and Rabbi, this show is all about books and the joy of reading.
  • Nerd to the 3rd Power: Hosted by Dr. Gonzo, Cat Thompson, and Travis Excelsior this show focuses on all things nerdy, from video games, anime, to conventions.

Former shows/reviewers

  • Apollo Z. Hack (Matt Burkett) creator of the cinematic Reviewaverse Saga, and the more traditionally produced review series The HACKdown. In June 2011, he left the site voluntarily to fulfill other goals, as well as citing creative differences on his Facebook account.[5] He has been on the site the shortest time, for only 4 1/2 months.
  • Bhargav (Bhargav Dronamraju) was the chief executive producer and co-founder of Channel Awesome. In addition, he hosted a comedy series entitled Monkey Death Ray and portrayed the character of Ma-Ti in several TGWTG productions. Bhargav left the company in early 2012 for undisclosed, but amicable, reasons.
  • Little Miss Gamer (Lindsey Briggs) of PBC Productions reviews video games from all consoles, as well as investigating the lifestyles, and social interactions of gamers amongst each other and non-gamers alike through performance skits (such as asking complete strangers, including the actor Tom Green, to play SIMON out in public). Her show focuses on the idea that games may appear to be simple, but there is actually much to discuss. By the summer of 2010, she had retired the LMG title to focus on puppeteer work for the Jim Henson Foundation.
  • LordKaT (Jason Pullara) was the host of Until We Win. From Staten Island, New York, his show guides the viewer through the hardest and toughest games to the end and gives tips on how to get through the game without resorting to cheat codes and devices. Jason has appeared on "Transmission Awesome" on several occasions whenever the podcast's regular hosts are absent. Until We Win was officially cancelled by Pullara on February 15, 2011, claiming that he was a gamer, not a reviewer, and on March 15, 2011, he would do his own project at Justin.tv (though he has privately admitted on his stream another major reason why he left on the day he announced that he left TGWTG, but will not discuss it publicly).[6] He left on good terms with TGWTG, and he has since stayed on as a business partner with Channel Awesome, and still occasionally makes cameos in other peoples videos (such as JewWario's Fanime video). On September 30, 2011, he brought back Until We Win on his stream in a different format, where he would play a difficult game on his stream, live, every Friday from 5 PM to 7 PM, and subscribers to his site can vote whether or not he should continue playing the game until he wins.[7] He was the only former reviewer to still have his videos accessible on TGWTG until cutting ties with them in August.
  • Sam Goldberg (Rooney Enterprises) is the producer of ThatJewishGuy, a show covering Jewish media as well as cultural practices in Judaism. ThatJewishGuy is known for his dry humor and calm persona. Spencer also produced Guy Lynor, (a pun on guyliner) where the title character is a hardcore rock and roll archetype expanding on classic literature. Both of these shows attempt to be educational as well as entertaining. ThatJewishGuy was not renewed by the site in June 2011 due to inactivity. Spencer is still active on his YouTube channel.[8]
  • The Nostalgia Critic (Doug Walker), reviews of 1980-1990s (decade) films and television (with occasional recent movies such as Ponyo, The Room, Baby Geniuses 2 and Alone in the Dark) by an ill-tempered and sarcastic critic. Most episodes are co-written with his brother, Rob Walker. On September 14, 2012, Walker announced he was retiring the character, feeling that the show had run its course and desired to develop new projects.[9] He later, however, state that the character was not entirely done, and that it would actually resurface on special occasions.
  • Riz (Dan Rizzo (Formerly ThatAussieGuy)) is an Australian video game reviewer, the owner and creator of "Bored Shitless" (Now Raving Entertainment). He co-founded Transmission Awesome, and helped develop the Blistered Thumbs section. Riz was dismissed in June 2009.[10] Riz has since gone onto other various projects, but has been quite outspoken against the site and its group leaders.
  • The Spoony One (Noah Antwiler) lives in Arizona, owner and proprietor of The Spoony Experiment. He primarily reviews horrible movies and video games. He eventually teamed up with Walker and posted several of his videos on the site, has been present in every site anniversary thus far, and did the Alone in the Dark joint review with the Nostalgia Critic and Linkara. He also plays Dr. Insano, who appeared as the main nemesis in Linkara's Atop The Fourth Wall videos. His reviews tend to lean towards FMV games and bad Final Fantasy games (he has often claimed to hate the Final Fantasy series in general) as well as a retrospective on the entire Ultima series, starting as a tribute of the good earlier games working its way to the horrible later games. Amidst creative differences, Spoony's departure from the site was announced on June 21, 2012.[11] It was, however, later revealed that Antwiler would still collaborate with Channel Awesome in the future. He recently appeared in a video with Angry Joe.
  • That Chick with the Goggles (Krissy Diggs) lives in Missouri. She hosts the series Games I Grew Up On and Quickies (two minute-long reviews of various video games). Like MarzGurl, she joined the site after being a runner-up for the Nostalgia Chick position. As of January 2011, she has retired the character and left the site to pursue other interests.
  • Transylvania Television (Gordon Smuder) provided an adult-themed puppet show where the cast runs a television station out of a dank Transylvanian dungeon. TVTV was not renewed by the site in June 2011 in order to make room for new talent.[12]
  • The Distressed Watcher (Terroja Kincaid) hosted "Trailer Failure", a review show that takes a look at the previews for upcoming films. He also has done numerous top 10 videos featuring his favorite movie speeches, deaths, badasses, etc. TJ had also done a special series in which he critiqued each of the Star Wars prequels films in order (Episodes 1–3). He is also well known for being The Amazing Atheist, of YouTube fame. TJ was let go in September 2011. On September 28, 2011, TJ posted a video on one of his YouTube channels giving a full explanation for his departure and that he has no hard feelings towards the site nor any of its producers for the decision. He explained that he was let go because the site leaders felt some of his Amazing Atheist content would scare away advertisers from the site.[13]
  • The Game Heroes: Hosted by Handsome Tom (previously a member of ScrewAttack), this is actually a video podcast. The crew of the Game Heroes sit on a couch and feature interesting and obscure gaming news. On October 7, 2012, it was announced that the game heroes staff was retiring.[14]
  • Theme Lyrics, where Doug creates lyrics for instrumental theme songs to shows such as Home Improvement and Rugrats.

Anniversary specials

Every year, the anniversary of the website is celebrated with a crossover video starring most of the featured reviewers.

  • TGWTG Team Brawl (May 10, 2009): A fight between the Nostalgia Critic and The Angry Video Game Nerd escalates into a Royal Rumble brawl battle between the TGWTG comic and film reviewers versus the Blistered Thumbs game reviewers.
  • Kickassia (May 2010): The Nostalgia Critic decides to take over the real-life Republic of Molossia with the help of the other Channel Awesome reviewers. A DVD of the special was released in October 2010.[15]
  • Suburban Knights (June–July 2011): The reviewers enter a quest in search of a magic gauntlet called Malachite's Hand while dressed as famous fantasy characters - such as the Nostalgia Critic as Link, Spoony as Gandalf, and The Cinema Snob as Indiana Jones.[16] Was also released on DVD in September 2011.[17]
  • To Boldly Flee (August–September 2012): A science-fiction themed special, where the Critic and the other reviewers flee into space so they can solve the mystery of "The Hole" and deal with villains such as Terl, General Zod and Mechakara. To be released in DVD in December 2012.[18] It has been stated by Doug Walker that this is to be the last time they do a large-scale anniversary special on the site. It will also mark the final anniversary for Spoony on the site.

UK Anniversary Specials

  • NerdQuest (2013): Directed by Mike Jeavons, A black comedy set in the world of LARPing starring the British members of TGWTG. Due to be released early 2013. The first time the entire UK members have appeared in a special.[19][20]
