Buzzy was one of those unnoticed, underrated guys, who made jazz what it was: he swung like the clappers, was at home with Eddie Condon's bands, Billie Holiday, and more modern players...but he was, essentially a swing player. There were three geat drummers who made Eddie Condon's club and its house band what it was: George Wettling, Cliff Leeman...and Buzzy Drootin.
