Kiev

Standard English usage for the capital of Ukraine is Kiev not Kyiv. This article was changed at the end of January by an IP user with no justification given. I attempted to revert this change but may have messed up something else. I was subsequently reverted by Intruder007. As Kiev was the long standing version and is supported by usage in other articles here on Wikipedia, we should restore its usage here on this page. --Khajidha (talk) 17:01, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is actually incorrect. Kyiv is the official name of the city and It has also been adopted by the United Nations GEGN Geographical Names Database, the United States Board on Geographic Names, the International Air Transport Association, the European Union, English-speaking foreign diplomatic missions and governments, several international organizations, and the Encyclopædia Britannica. Some English-language news sources have adopted Kyiv in their style guides, including the AP, CP, and Reuters news services, media organizations in Ukraine, and some media organizations in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
