Sheema Kirmani (born ) is a Pakistani classical dancer, performer and a social activist.
Early life
Her father was from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh while her mother belonged to a family from Hyderabad. Her father served in Pakistan Army and rose to the rank of Brigadier. His last appointment was chairman Karachi Electric Supply Corporation. She has two siblings, an elder brother and a younger sister.[1]
Career
Sheema used to visit her grandparents, who lived in India during her school vacations. Its there that she developed interest in performing arts.[1] She started to learn classical dance in mid 1960s at Karachi's local music and dance academy. She learned Baratnatynam from Leela Samson at Delhi]]. She performed solo, first in 1984.[2]
Social activism
Sheema identifies herself as a feminist and a Marxist.[1] She founded Tehrik-e-Niswan in 1981 at Karachi along with ????.[3]
