Threston-Hoax

Update (I thought you'd like to know:
"T.R. Threston" is a HOAX! All right already, she does have an elaborate facebook-page, Twitter account, mentioning in annual report of whatever club of travel writers, all uploaded from somewhere, non-valid ISBN and very dodgy, but now finally there is proof that "T.R. Threston" is completely made up! Not even her photoes ar real! That photo from her facebook-"fan" page? Fake! The one from her wordpress page? Fake! Her Twitter? All are fake! You are asking for proof? Well ... lets take the pic from her facebook-fan page for a minute and compare it to this photo of Jessica Alba at Toronto Film Festival 2007. Please note the people in the background ... of course she COULD have asked those who were in the background of Jessica Alba back then, to come join her at exactly the same place to take that photo with exactly the same clothings she might have borrowed them froom Jessica Alba, since she knows all the celebs!), and damn: the same figure, - theoretically, - but ... naaah ... that one is photoshopped! (^_^) And yeah ... all updates on my TALK page ... on all the findings on the Threston-clan! (I still can't believe how someone could have gone through all the trouble making that up!) LagondaDK (talk) 20:23, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

@LagondaDK: that's astonishing. I have been assuming that she does actually exist, but I begin to wonder even about that. Surely some of her countless twitter/Facebook followers will have noticed that she has borrowed Jessica's hair and necklace? I wonder how long the Wikipedia link will stay on her Facebook page.
I have been boggling my mind over all the things wrong with the self-published book commissioned by her and presented as a reference: author's name is "McHugh" outside, but "McHug" in the text; Edward is described as "a Knights Templar"; "effected" for "affected"; "the family was of nobility class" reads oddly to me, not what a real genealogist would write; and anyway false because the general use of "nobility" is the peerage, Barons and higher, not knights or baronets, and there is no attempt to show anything above the rank of Knight; lot of fluff about how the Templar titles are hereditary, all quoted from the site of the modern Knights Templar who have no connection with the medieval ones - in fact the medieval ones were celibate monks, so no question of the title being hereditary. If she was going to fake noble ancestry, she might have done it more convincingly. Last but not least, there are extensive references cited to that well-known non-RS, Wikipedia! JohnCD (talk) 19:31, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
I don’t really understand it myself. I mean: that extend of work that has been put into that fake identity or rather identities … As for her facebook contacts: a lot of them are as fake as she is! Take “Andre D’ Orleans” for instance … didn’t we delete his article one or two days ago because he was not noteworthy and the author belonged to AustralianThreston’s sock-farm anyway? Then there is the motivation: why would you do something like that? For the sake of intellectual self-flagellation? There is always money behind it and I somehow believe it has to be money behind this scheme somehow too. But how could you make profit from an article on Wikipedia? You don’t! But you could build up a reputation, a fake reputation. I realized, that all those fake connections of hers, her fake facebook-contacts, business-contacts and so on were somehow related to either publishing, society, celebrities and fashion. There is even a glossy magazine available as PDF file … (its not all that) … with T.R. Threston as editor. And then you come across blog entries mentioning Rose Goodhall and T.R. Threstion, introducing them as “the model” and “travel writer” … the blogger herself claiming to be a fashion designer for wedding dresses, then there is mentioning of a photo-shoot by a model named Angelique Romano, praising T.R. Threston as well … It all hints into the direction of fashion and modeling. Nothing like the catwalk in Paris or Milano, but still … very down to earth modeling, for wedding-dress magazines or modern street-style or stuff like that … That did remind me of a rip-off business built on teenage girl’s hopes and dreams of becoming a model. You’d tell them how beautiful they are, and offer them a photo shoot and they would pay you good for it and also pay you to get their file with a model agency. Since there are so many out there it only makes sense that you’d have to tell them a thing or two about how experienced you are and with whom you are working with and those kids go home, get online and check Google for more information and you will end up on fan pages, blogs of unknown models, magazines and then there is the trustworthy chairwoman of the New York Travel Writers Agency and whatnot … Or how about this: T.R. Threston was said to have been active with KIVA ... an organisation that is supposed to collect money for microfinancing in third world countries but apparently it had been uncovered as a lot of money-collecting and borrowing it to fake people who did not even exist. That too was backed up by fake identities, fake employees, fake social-media accounts and so on ... LagondaDK (talk) 20:21, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
I believe I figured it out now: It has to be part of that KIVA scam! … T.R. Threston is presented as the Team Leader of this KIVA group and – what a coincidence – she herself has given a loan and Angelique too, who has praised T.R. Threston before on how great the cooperation in modeling was … as a team leader they have to give her a story to back her up, thats why they put that much effort into developing her, giving her a facebook-page and whatnot. The nobility articles on Threstonites from the Middle Ages only served to make her own Wikipedia article relevant as a decendant of nobility! Thats gotta be it! Regarding :Articles for creation/Ted Neward

Hi JohnCD, I'm looking for some more references and will improve the article soon. Just give me couple of more months, I will correct it for sure. Thanks.

Akatyayan (talk) 09:34, 4 August 2014 (UTC)Akatyayan

@Akatyayan: No worries! It will only go back on the deletion list if it is left untouched for another six months. JohnCD (talk) 11:08, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Parisam vaippu

Thanks for bringing the undeletion to my attention. I'll most likely propose AfD, as the article seems to be a cut/paste copycvio job from the blog post here (which is dated 2009 as far as I can see). PaintedCarpet (talk) 14:12, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Wanees Zarour Page

Hello JohnCD, thank you for explaining the deletion of the page I created for Wanees Zarour. Would it be possible to restore the page but edit it to remove infringing text? Once it's back up, I can fill it with more neutral statements from recent reviews. Thank you! Isanaht (talk) 00:03, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

@Isanaht: sorry, we can't restore copyright material, even temporarily. I can email you a copy, if you enable email on your account. To do that, click "Preferences" at the top of the screen, and on the "User profile" tab, at the bottom, enter your email address (which will not be visible to me or anyone) and check the box marked "Enable email from other users". JohnCD (talk) 11:15, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
@JohnCD: thank you - an email would be great. then can I just recreate the page without the copyrighted material? I've enabled email on my account. Isanaht (talk) 15:22, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
@Isanaht: copy emailed. Yes, you can re-create the page, but check out WP:Your first article and WP:Copy-paste and take care to keep the tone neutral. The most important thing is to provide references which discuss him in some depth, see WP:Notability (people) and WP:Notability (summary). JohnCD (talk) 21:55, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
@JohnCD: thank you very much! I read through the articles you mentioned and I have rewritten the page. Please let me know if you notice issues with the page as I continue to build on it. Isanaht (talk) 01:59, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Please review improvements to deleted LMDB article?

I'm an employee of Symas and I am researching why our database software, Lightning Memory-mapped Database has so far been denied an article on Wikipedia in spite of the fact that the database itself meets Wikipedia's own published criteria for a dedicated page (notability, etc- I read the whole thing). A deleted article exists here. The article was admittedly thin when it was first deleted, but the article's history is interesting because it contains what appear to be legitimate COI concerns (more reading) directed at the person who initiated the discussion that ended with the article's deletion.

I note that the last activity concerning reinstatement of the article took place in October of last year and that it has undergone steady improvements since then. To my eye, the current version of the article meets Wikipedia's published guidelines for stand-alone articles. Could you possibly take a quick look at the article and comment on any shortcomings that might still exist?

Delete both Bidhu Bhusan Das and Prabhat Nalini Das

Dear John:

I'm not going to contest you. Professor Bidhu Bhusan Das was one of India's most venerated academics. Both of them taught across the country, were educational administrators with high profile posts and were legends before the internet came of age, and before articles went on line. In their time, they were mentioned every day, in both the national and local media. Both of them have taught two chief Justices and other justices of India's Supreme Court, cabinet ministers, chief ministers of India's provinces, writers, celebrated poets, administrators, scientists, artists, intellectuals and other legends: http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/tp-otherstates/call-for-greater-industryacademia-collaboration-in-research/article5199548.ece. Considering the flotsam that have Wikipedia pages, I find it supremely ironical that you would not merely allude to deletion, but "speedy deletion" of two of India's most outstanding public intellectuals. Do refer to this article in The Hindu on Prof. Bidhu Bhusan Das: http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/tp-otherstates/call-for-greater-industryacademia-collaboration-in-research/article5199548.ece. Dr. Shashi Tharoor is former Under Secretary General of the UN, a former minister, and an internationally known diplomat, leader and author and spoke in the most glowing terms about Prof. Bidhu Bhusan Das. Here's an entry on Bidhu Bhusan Das in the Library of Congress: http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n89267884.html.

Having said that, I'll say I find your tone rather offensive, and this entire matter distasteful. It seems to be in the manner of a witch hunt. Please delete these immediately. Prof. Prabhat Nalini Das, (please see this article in a leading daily on her in The Telegraph: http://www.telegraphindia.com/1110417/jsp/orissa/story_13863557.jsp I know, would ask that you delete the page on her immediately. Her real life reputation is way ahead of Wikipedia - there are, literally, millions of people who know her just as they know Prof. Bidhu Bhusan Das.

Zachary5050 (talk) 15:39, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

Delete both Bidhu Bhusan Das and Prabhat Nalini Das immediately, please

http://www.un.org/ga/president/61/follow-up/thematic-civilizations/tharoor.shtml

To give you a little perspective, Dr. Shashi Tharoor, who delivered the memorial lecture on Bidhu Bhusan Das, and would not stop praise of a legendary personality, was a candidate for UN Secretary General:

http://www.un.org/ga/president/61/follow-up/thematic-civilizations/tharoor.shtml

Please delete both pages ASAP. I do no justice to their impeccable - and celebrated - life's work by having deletion notices on their bios put up on Wikipedia!!!

Cutest Penguin's page

Dear John:

I am a native speaker of English. So was Prof. Bidhu Bhusan Das; and so is Prof. Prabhat Nalini Das. Prof. Bidhu Bhusan Das studied at Harvard, Columbia and the most sought-after of all Oxford colleges, Christ Church. At Christ Church, amongst others, Nobel laureate W. H. Auden taught him poetry, J.R.R. Tolkien taught him medieval English literature, and logical positivist, A. J. Ayer, taught him philosophy. That is only the beginning.

How supremely ironical that someone with the name "Cutest Penguin" should sit in judgement over him. And, forgive me, but where on earth is Indraprastha University???

I have corrected Cutest Penguin's page - it is teeming with numerous and horrendous grammatical (in bold) and punctuation errors (P). This is no native speaker of English - he is not a speaker of English at all!

It behoves Wikipedia to adhere to minimal benchmarks of linguistic correctness while nominating "editors". Otherwise, your efforts end up not merely as an exercise in futility; sadly, it ends up as farce.

I wish you well, but please maintain quality control.

Hey! there, this is Cutest Penguin (pen name). I'm a (insert) native resident of India and most of my contents and articles will be/are about India and Indian personalities. Your suggestions will be appreciated on my Talk Page! Personal life I personally believe that the true identity should not be enclosed since this could be risky. I remember some one who really made my user-page horrible by adding undesirable contents and images. But I(insert) would like to say one thing that, Wikipedia should bring some programmes at (missing article) University and school level so that young mind can be a part of Wikipedia foundation. Once (P)' while addressing a educational seminar in a public school near New Delhi.(P)'I questioned one of very young mind, do he uses Internet? He replied-(P) "Yes, I do use Google, MiniC**p and Wikipedia". (P)Subscript textIn response to him (P) I questioned, what is Wikipedia? He answered,(P) "it is a website where any one can edit" (P) adding (P) "I edited once but someone deleted and send me very dangerous messages, something like your IP will be blocked". (P) With this experience I would like to urge Wikipedia and other editors to be not only strict but humble as well while posting any warning messages. Editing History

Kamala Nehru with her Husband and daughter Indira Gandhi As a unregistered user I made several minor and major edits on Wikipedia, but while editing a semi-protected article I was advised by Wikipedia to register myself in order to make contribution under semi-protected article (P) so on 5th June 2014 I registered myself and became one of thousands of volunteer Wikipedian. After contributing my very first own article about VC of GGSIPU, Prof. Anil Kumar Tyagi I became addicted to Wikipedia and made several contribution on Wikipedia. One of surprising thing (!) I found on Wikipedia is the copyright policy, there is no doubt it is very essential to deal with legal issues but some time I found many editors making fun of it. One such incident I found about Kamala Nehru College one of reputed college in Delhi, which was deleted in 2008 as per CSD G11 and when I nominated Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies for AfD it got challenged stating that a institutional organization is exception case and cannot be deleted since it offers recognized degree. After studying the Wikipedia policy for notability and verifiability I withdrew my AfD request and improved the article to meet the Wikipedia standards and maybe that the reason I have kept it in my improved and expend list of articles.

Article Regarding Adilson Bitta Lima Removed

Hello JohnCD,

I'm writing in response to the deletion of the Adilson "Bitta" Lima's page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Adilson_Lima).

I am a student of his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu lineage (my 5th degree black belt instructor is Bitta's first black belt) and can confirm he is a legit martial artist. This can be verified through countless YouTube videos, old Brazilian newspaper articles, magazine articles, old photographs with Helio Gracie (the founder of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), through references from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu legends (e.g., Renzo Gracie, himself) and the IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation).

Please let me know how to start the process of reinstating his page.

Thank you,

Iambrodybjj (talk) 04:53, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

@Iambrodybjj: as this article was deleted after a deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adilson Lima, it cannot simply be restored. I have moved it to a sub-page in your user space at User:Iambrodybjj/Adilson Lima where you can work on it. What it needs is better references to show how he meets Wikipedia's WP:Notability standard, which looks for "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." For MMA fighters, there is a more guidance at WP:MMANOT. I will put some links on your user talk page with general advice. You may be able to get help by posting a request on the talk page of WP:WikiProject Mixed martial arts, a group of users who are interested in this subject.
Once you have improved the article, let me know and I will decide what to do next; probably I will refer it to WP:Deletion review to see whether there is agreement to restore it to the main encyclopedia. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:37, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Please reinstate Adilson Lima's wikipedia page

Hi,

I am writing regarding a deleted page on Adilson 'Bitta' Lima, who had a wikipedia page before it was deleted in February of this year. Here is the link

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Adilson_Lima

What was the reason for the delete? Was it just the MMA record issue? Adilson Lima has also had a storied BJJ career including recent wins in the Pan American Games, and World Championships. Links to just a few of his notable wins are (do a search for Adilson Lima and you'll see him in the Super Heavy Weight Black Belts) given in the ref section. here, here, and here.

Adilson Lima has been a substantial person in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community for the better part of 30 years. Deleting his page because he did not compete in a 'top tier' mixed martial arts promotion seems like overkill to me. It ignores the well-sourced information available on him with respect to the BJJ community and the important role that he has in teaching and training current top competitors.

On top of that, his MMA competitions were done in the mid-1990's before the UFC became the established organization it is today. Obviously, back in those days the other 'top tier' MMA organizations did not even exist. Here is a page from Sherdog.com, a well respected website that tracks confirmed professional MMA records on Adilson Lima:

http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Adilson-Lima-2012

Finally, on the issue of notability of championships. The International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation is the leading global organization that runs tournaments and does belt credentialing for the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community. The three tournaments I sourced above, which Adilson Lima won, are all IBJJF tournaments. If that is not notable, then I suggest that you remove Morihei Ueshiba's Wikipedia page

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morihei_Ueshiba

as this person, by Peter Rehse's own use of the notability criteria, do not apply to the very person who founded his own martial art of Aikido.

68.65.167.69 (talk) 06:31, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

See the reply to Iambrodybjj (talk) just above this. I have moved the article into his user-space at User:Iambrodybjj/Adilson Lima, and you are very welcome to help improve it there. See WP:Your first article for general advice, and WP:Notability and WP:MMANOT. JohnCD (talk) 21:41, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

I've restored your deletion of this page. This page is used by both new editors as a sandbox and by AfC clerks for testing. In addition to those uses, it prevents drafts that are moved from userspace sandboxes to being parked in an inappropriate location. I hope you don't think that I am stepping on your toes, I just knew this page was used with a purpose. Cheers, TLSuda (talk) 11:27, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

No worries! Sorry about that. I deleted it because its content was two lines about a non-notable minor, which had been spammed in several places; if I had realised its use, I would have re-created it blank. I deleted its talk page too, which was another non-article, but I don't suppose that needs to be recreated. JohnCD (talk) 11:35, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
I figured that was what you did, so I reverted it back to a clean sandbox page. I wasn't worried about the talkpage, a new one can always be created. Cheers, TLSuda (talk) 11:39, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Friedrich Count of Luxburg

hello john, want to know what is the reason for the nominaciondel article Friedrich Count of Luxburg if this article has record of authority from the school library Deutsche Nationalbibliothek (DNB) and endorsed by WorldCat - OCLC are valid reasons for it is in the encyclopedic school library, taking intoaccount is a public person and that the content of the article is correct and does not violate Wikipedia policies quitarce should consider the nomination for the article to be deleted.--Von Luxburg (talk) 16:59, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

@Von Luxburg: As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia is selective about subjects for articles. The test for inclusion is called Wikipedia:Notability, and looks for evidence of "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". The DNB/OCLC references show that the Count exists, but they do not constitute significant coverage.
You are welcome to comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Friedrich Count of Luxburg, but please read WP:DISCUSSAFD first, and do not again remove the AfD notice from the top of the article - that will not stop the discussion.
Your username indicates that you may be Count von Luxburg, or connected with him. In that case, please read the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. JohnCD (talk) 17:39, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi john, I could explain what the subject on which you rely to request the deletion of Article Friedrich Count of Luxburg, if you meet the canons of wikipedia and have encyclopedic and sufficient value references as well as a tab control BND and WorldCat and understand that these are reliable sources that this person exists but implies that being in a witch hunt because they give a reason for the postulation of the article for deletion--Dbianchir (talk) 19:41, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
@Dbianchir: please read my reply to user Von Luxburg (talk) just above. To repeat: it is not enough that the person exists, because Wikipedia is not a listing directory like LinkedIn or Facebook. To have an article requires evidence of significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources to establish Wikipedia:Notability. JohnCD (talk) 19:53, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi john, I have no relationship with the person of the article, or perhaps all apples must come from the same tree or washington all are the same, and only edited or contributed to improve in some aspects the article.--Von Luxburg (talk) 19:55, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
Then that is OK. You will understand that your choice of username made a connection seem likely. JohnCD (talk) 22:08, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
dear user, Friedrich Count of Luxburg is the current Earl of Luxburg, like the noble families of europas is Luxburg current head of the family; is a well-known public figures and there are sources that support this person is also known acts of altruism towards the needy population from Latin America. through this foundation that directs to helped people in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru which have been affected by natural disasters or armed comflictos displacement. the article was edited from a neutral point of view and following the canons of wikipedia.--Dbianchir (talk) 20:53, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

@Dbianchir: it is no good just saying that, how can you prove it? Wikipedia:Verifiability: "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source." If he is a well-known public figure and has known acts of altruism, please add to the article references to reliable, published sources which discuss him and his acts. "Reliable" excludes blogs, Youtube, places where anyone can write anything; "independent" excludes his own websites and anything based on press releases.

All that the present references in the article show is that he wrote this short paper and that his foundation has a website. That is not enough.

I have searched like this:

Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

and I do not find anything relevant. Sources do not have to be in English, but they must be published, not private material like family archives, so that in principle a reader can check what the article says, and they need to be about him, not his family.

You do not need to convince me: you need to add to the article references which establish WP:Notability, so as to convince people who will comment at the deletion discussion. The discussion will continue for a week, and you are welcome to comment there. The previous discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Friedrich Ulrich Count of Luxburg will show you what form the discussion may take. At the end of a week, an uninvolved administrator will decide what to do, based on the arguments presented in terms of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, not on a count of heads. You are welcome to comment there, but should read WP:DISCUSSAFD first. JohnCD (talk) 22:08, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

john what you just told me is to place the references of press releases and blog talk and relate to Friedrich Ulrich Count of Luxburg with social work, this would be enough to give grounds for more than eliminated--Dbianchir (talk) 15:49, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
No. Anything that helps to verify what the article says is of some use, but blogs and press releases will not be enough. As I said above, blogs are not reliable sources (because anyone can write anything in a blog, and there is no editorial check) and press releases are not independent. This is explained at WP:General notability guideline. There is a Spanish version of that at es:Wikipedia:Artículos sin relevancia aparente#Pautas generales de relevancia. JohnCD (talk) 16:26, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
would then place the press releases or if the newspaper articles, these publications are physical and not digital.--Dbianchir (talk) 16:53, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
Yes, you can use a newspaper article as a reference even if it is not online. You need to give the name of the paper, the date of the issue, the title of the article, and if possible the author's name and the page number. See WP:Citing sources#Newspaper articles. JohnCD (talk) 21:05, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
hello john, thanks for your explanation'm looking for sources, here I leave two links http://www.tagblatt.ch/ostschweiz-am-sonntag/transorient/art302977,3560956, http://ve.globedia.com/guajira-venezolana-sufre-sequia Dbianchir (talk) 14:53, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
The first is not much use, because it is all about the castle and does not even mention the Count's name; the other is better. You do not have to convince me: you have to improve the article with references so that the people who contribute to the deletion discussion will think it should be kept. JohnCD (talk) 21:44, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
hello john, This is an article where the Count makes a donation of toys to the children of the central hospital in Maracaibo Venezuela Moreno, Carlos Eduardo (2006). "Una Navidad Feliz Para Los Ninos del Hospital Central". Mi Diario La Voz Del Zulia. --Dbianchir (talk) 17:01, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi john, I need your help to uncheck elimination of article as Yopie is waging a campaign smear my view towards me, towards the article and to the people who oppose the deletion of the article as such, if necessary to amend article I want to know if I have your help. --Dbianchir (talk) 20:38, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
@Dbianchir: Yopie is entitled to edit the article, as is everyone else. As far as I can see, he has only removed references which were not actually about the Count. It is also reasonable, when a new SPA appears to defend the article, to ask whether there is a connection. The administrator who closes the deletion discussion will be able to see the history and make his or her own decision. JohnCD (talk) 22:17, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
hello john, improved the same and included most reliable sources on the reputation of Friedrich Count of Luxburg but the article was deleted, serious kind enough to guide me or help me to prepare this article to not be deleted again or else I will sary the research done that and post it to your poque could be that my knowledge of wp are not sufientes for the publication; I thanks for reading this post and I hope your grateful response.--Dbianchir (talk) 14:46, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
@Dbianchir: my best advice to you is: give up. You have tried very hard, but you have not convinced any established Wikipedia user that the Count is notable in Wikipedia's sense. In my opinion, any further effort would be "flogging a dead horse".
I looked at your recent additions to the article, but material about his mother, grandfather, great-uncle etc are absolutely irrelevant to the question of his notability, and long lists of catalogue entries from the DNB do not help either - read WP:Bombardment.
If you are determined to go on trying, you should ask the adminstrator who closed the AfD, user Deor (talk), whether he will "userfy" the article for you - move it into a sub-page in your user space where you can work on it. If you do, I advise you to strip out all the material about relatives, and all the references which do not say anything significant about the Count himself. Read WP:Notability (summary) for another explanation of what is looked for.
If the page is userfied for you, you should not post it to the main encyclopedia again without agreement from Deor as the deleting administrator or, if Deor does not agree, without taking it to WP:Deletion review. JohnCD (talk) 16:11, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
@Dbianchir: another relevant essay is Wikipedia:No amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability. JohnCD (talk) 20:09, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
hello john, thanks for your explanation was what I expected to solve the problems of visibility and consegir two books and 15 articles of the count in his performances as a public person but the only drawback I see is that they are in Spanish this would be inconvenient for the article is my question--Dbianchir (talk) 14:45, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi, John. Dbianchir has been leaving similar messages on my talk page. I'm in theory willing to userfy the article for him to work on, but I can't read Spanish very well, so I don't feel competent to review his supposed Venezuelan sources and advise him on the possibility of any rewrite's satisfying the notability guidelines. As a rather new admin, I'm probably not as familiar with protection policy as I should be; would it violate policy for me to userfy the article (which has already been deleted twice, under different titles, via AfD) and then move-protect the userspace draft so that it couldn't be moved back to article space without the approval of an admin—preferably one who understands Spanish? I don't want to seem harsh to Dbianchir; but I also don't want to have editors wasting time on dealing with a third creation of the article (if the person's notability can't be established), and I don't want to encourage Dbianchir to waste his time on trying to amend an article that will never be acceptable. Deor (talk) 16:59, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
@Deor: - no, I see no problem with userfying the page and salting or move-protecting so that it cannot be re-posted without permission from an admin or DRV. I think Dbianchir will be wasting his time, since the large amount of work he has already done producing unsuitable references makes it seem unlikely to me that there are undiscovered suitable ones out there, but there is no harm letting him try again. JohnCD (talk) 22:20, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
@Dbianchir: read again WP:GNG, particularly:

"Significant coverage" addresses the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention but it need not be the main topic of the source material.

The Spanish version of that page is at es:Wikipedia:Artículos sin relevancia aparente. That will show you why references about his great-great-uncle, or his family's old castle, or library catalogue entries like this about a book published in 1922, are absolutely useless for showing notability. Only references which say something substantial about this Count are any use for this purpose. They can be in Spanish, but to be reliable sources (es:Wikipedia:Fuentes fiables) they must have been published. JohnCD (talk) 22:20, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Response requested as per my message yesterday

Hi JohnCD,

Could you please revert to my talk posted on your wall yesterday.

This was with respect to the deletion of page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Lakes_Institute_of_Management

Looking forward to it.

Webmaster ajit (talk) 04:11, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

@Webmaster ajit: you did not post to my talk page yesterday, you posted to User talk:Jac16888, and he has answered you there. However, I can add my advice: the article was a blatant advertisement, the school trying to sell itself, and anything like that is deleted from Wikipedia at sight. I am very surprised that it lasted in Wikipedia so long. I looked at the history to see whether there was a neutral version to revert to, but right from the first edit it has been full of "puffery".
You must understand that Wikipedia is not a site like Facebook, for people and organizations to "tell the world" about how wonderful they are. They can do that on their own websites, but an encyclopedia is quite different: its articles should be written from a WP:Neutral point of view, no opinions, no glowing adjectives, only plain facts, neutrally stated and cited to reliable sources.
If you are connected with the school, read the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and if you want to try again, use the WP:Articles for creation process so that your work can be reviewed by an uninvolved user. Read User:JohnCD/Not a noticeboard and the guide to writing WP:Your first article. JohnCD (talk) 20:19, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Request for undelete - Draft:Red Flush Casino

Hi John,

The page Red Flush Casino was deleted yesterday and I would like to please request that it be undeleted. I am not sure why it would have been deleted as I have taken extra care to use sources that educate our customers about the business. I have also not used any promotional language or use any customer acquisition pages. If you could please undelete the page and point me at the problem with the article I would be happy to edit the page to were it would be acceptable for publication.

Kind regards, Human49 (talk) 07:59, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

@Human49: I will reply on your talk page later today. JohnCD (talk) 09:48, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Ambariya Islamic Institute

Hello JohnCD, I just noticed that you speedily deleted the article Ambariya Islamic Institute with the reason Article has no meaningful, substantive content. Anbariya is a well noted institute in Ghana with links from several Wikipedia articles. I would like to believe that the deletion might have been an oversight.
Kind Regards.
Sadat (Masssly)TalkCEmail 09:14, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

@Masssly: the whole content of the page that I deleted was "#REDIRECT [[Name of article]]". You are welcome to write an article about the Ambariya Islamic Institute, but that wasn't one, and there wasn't any more content in its history.
If you can remember what you did that produced that effect, I would like to know, because there have been a number of articles like that recently, and if there is something in the instructions that misleads people into producing them, we should try to put it right. JohnCD (talk) 09:23, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

new user and confused

I am so sorry if things gone wrong on my first try on editing some stuff. I kind of no expert on this but I just want to update something about my favorite Japanese artist [Aya Hirano] but don't seem to know how to do it right in a simple way. I just want to put a link on the following album (FRAGMENTS and VIVID] in order for readers to know the tracklist of this respective album. I don't mean to do it wrong but I can't seem to do it right.

Again I apologize for all the inconveniences I put on this web during my first try on editing something.

tomahawk333 undeletion thread

hi JohnCD, this is tomahawk333, i'm wondering if you can give me some insight as to where my account lies at this point in time? i'm unable to sign in and am having trouble accessing the previous conversation 124.176.241.149 (talk) 12:57, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

@Tomahawk333: The previous conversation is at User talk:Tomahawk333. Your account is blocked, but I see no reason why you cannot sign in and edit your talk page. The reason it is still blocked is that it seems that all you want to do here is write about yourself and your music project, although at least ten people have explained to you why that is not acceptable. You were asked whether if unblocked you would accept a condition that you made no edits of any kind about yourself or "Outpsyjah", and you said "yeah sure, i agree", but your most recent request is still asking for "my edits to the 'Outsider' page to be reinstated or allowed to stand". That is not going to happen. You can submit another unblock request if you like, but it will not be accepted unless you make clear that you accept that you cannot edit about yourself or your project, and say what else you want to do. My best advice is: give up, accept that you are not going to be allowed to write about yourself here, and be content with sites like Soundcloud, Youtube, Last.fm etc. JohnCD (talk) 22:17, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello John, you deleted one page with information that I need to recover for personal purposes. I totally understand why you deleted, but I need you help to recover the information over there (User:Anothercountry/concerts). Because I am not a Admin, I don't have access to deleted pages, so I wonder how you can help me? do you want an email to send the information? Looking forward for your help (Anothercountry (talk) 10:41, 5 September 2014 (UTC)).

@Anothercountry: yes, certainly I will email you the contents. The simplest way would be for you to enable email on your account - click "Preferences" at the top of the screen, and at the foot of the "User profile" tab fill in your email address (which will not be visible to me or anyone) and check the box marked "Enable email from other users". I will send you the version as you last edited it in Oct 2009 - it was later heavily spammed with multiple plugs for a Venezuelan chef, and I don't suppose you want those. JohnCD (talk) 14:38, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
Perfect!, thank you so much for your help. It is already enable the email. Please send me the one that you said from Oct 2009. Anothercountry (talk) 21:12, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Article about Charlotte Cleverley-Bisman; Sakiusa "Junior" Uluvula reference link was deleted due to A7

Hello,

Im curious as to why you deleted the Sakiusa "Junior" Uluvula link and info on the Charlotte Cleverley-Bisman Menengitis article. This was referencing another child whom died due to the disease while giving a quick synopsis of the cause and effect of the disease, and using an example and comparing Sakiusa "Junior" Uluvula to the case that the article was written about Charlotte Cleverley-Bisman

Just don't see why it wasn't relevant, it was used as an example and added a lot of credit and understanding to the article from the readers point of view.

I probably just don't understand the verbiage that is considered for deletion.

Just a suggestion to take a second look.

kona702@gmail.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.225.186.60 (talk) 16:38, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

The article about Junior that I deleted was just two sentences which said he had the same disease as Charlotte but died. Sadly, many people who caught the disease died; what made Charlotte's case worth an article was that she survived. However, since he is mentioned in Charlotte's article I have made a redirect, so that now if you click on Sakiusa "Junior" Uluvula you will be taken to that section. @Ravi Paliya: read the advice I put on your talk page. When the draft is ready, click the green "Submit" button to send it for review, but it will not be accepted unless there are references showing showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." to establish WP:Notability. References to its own website are not enough. JohnCD (talk) 10:37, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Nice work bringing that to AfD! I tracked down a few outstanding links to the old page in places like List of symphonies in C major, I think I've removed them all.--Milowenthasspoken 04:13, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

@Milowent: good, I didn't think to do that. All I did was pick him out of CAT:HOAX, it was the guys from the Unsung Composers website who realised quite how unsung he was and tagged the article. I see he was added to the List of Symphonies article soon after the hoax was posted by an IP geolocating to Norway where the "Gottfried Eschenbach Society" is based. Addition to the other two lists was more recent, just people picking it up from the article I guess. It's alarming how disinformation spreads. JohnCD (talk) 20:40, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

Conflicts..

I wouldn't like to guess how many edit conflicts I have experienced over the years, and from time to time I get block conflicts, deletion conflicts, etc, but I reckon this is probably the first time I have twice within three minutes been beaten to deleting the same page by the same administrator by a matter of seconds. However, I beat you to this. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 19:53, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

@JamesBWatson: you did, also by seconds. I went to block him and was a bit slow scratching my head about how someone already blocked since July was still editing - I hadn't taken in that it was his talk page. JohnCD (talk) 20:09, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

what is your problem mate

From what i have read on your page you clearly have some issues.... do you do that for just fun? or what is the outcome for you? does it make you happy? As far as i am concerned you are not the founder of wikipedia to be teeling poeple what they can share or not. If i had break some rules i would say nothing... that just lead me to a question are you so miserable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doughdaffy (talkcontribs) 21:38, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

@Doughdaffy: the outcome for me is keeping this an encyclopedia with some standards, not a place like Facebook where anyone can write whatever they like about themselves and their companies. Read what I wrote on your talk page, particularly WP:Notability (summary). Wikipedia is selective about subjects. The test for inclusion is whether people not connected with the company have written substantial comment about it. For Chelsea FC, that is no problem - look at Chelsea Football Club#Footnotes. Why would you delete Page: Kendall Danielle ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kenikala (talkcontribs) 19:34, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

@Kenikala: the reason is explained on your talk page. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a social-networking site, so it is selective about subjects for articles, see WP:Notability (people). It doesn't cover the up and coming, only those who have already arrived.
You wrote that she is "an upcoming Canadian Socialite" who has "recently decided to take a step into the public eye and is going to launch her public career in the near future". Good luck to her, but Wikipedia is not the place to do that; it is not for PR or promotion of any kind. Deleted page Talk:Dimche Palenzo

Hello. The page you deleted turns out to be just the top of an iceberg, there's an elaborate series of hoax pages here on en-WP relating to Electrolux, Macedonia and a person named Dimche/Dimce Palenzo (a name that a number of IPs and users have tried to enter as CEO of the real Electrolux, multiple times). Complete with "references" pointing to obviously "home made" websites in Macedonia using the name Electrolux/Elektroluks with a logo that is slightly different from the real Electrolux logo, but pictures etc ripped from the real Electrolux website (which has no mention of any presence at all in Macedonia, or even anyone representing them there). A hoax that has obviously been going on for at least four years. I'll dig deeper when I get time for it, but it'll probably take a week or two, I will then file a report at WP:ANI, but I thought I'd let you know, in case someone requests speedy deletion of more pages. I already have a couple of speedy candidates, but need them to be live since I need their page histories as a reference when digging.
So someone in Macedonia is really living out his fantasies about being a big time entrepreneur, here on en-WP. Thomas.W talk 17:20, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

Good. Tag them when you are ready. I have already blocked user Electrolux-Elektroluks (talk · contribs). JohnCD (talk) 17:24, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
@Thomas.W: - see this - may not be total hoax, looks as though there may be some underlying reality. JohnCD (talk) 17:41, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
I've seen it, he pops up on a number of user created/contributed websites, but that seems to be part of the hoax. Searches on Google for Electrolux Bitola, one of the articles I don't want deleted yet, returns nothing but "traditional hoax websites", i.e. sites where anyone can enter anything. And that entire article is sourced only to www.electrolux.com.mk, one of the "home made" web sites where pictures of products etc have been ripped from the real Electrolux. And why would they try to insert the name Dimche Palenzo in various places relating to the real Electrolux, and even try to turn Electrolux of Sweden into a Macedonian company by inserting false information in the infobox of that article here, if a real company by that name existed in Macedonia? And why is there no link to an article on the Macedonian WP in the article here about "Electrolux Bitola" if there really is a legit substantial company by that name in Macedonia? Note that Electrolux Bitola, an article created by User:Palenzo Dimce, originally claimed that the company has over 10,000 employees, so we're talking about a very substantial company. So my gut feeling tells me that it's all a hoax, one of a number of Wikipedia hoaxes that have originated in Macedonia. Thomas.W talk 18:08, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
This user page: User:Palenzo is also connected to it, a fake company with a fake web site and a fake "web shop" with pictures of merchandise but no prices, and where you can't buy anything. So he has branched out into fashion too, not only home appliances. Which makes it crazy enough to be part of some kind of art project. Thomas.W talk 18:56, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, I have commented there. JohnCD (talk) 13:55, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

In response you noted: "You made the same request last January, and it was restored then, but you have not touched it since. AFC is not a place to keep drafts indefinitely. If it is restored again, when do you plan to do anything about it? JohnCD (talk) 21:44, 20 September 2014 (UTC)"

I will work on revisions to the proposed article immediately! My apologies for the delay in revising the article. I did not realize it had, in fact, been previously restored -- an oversight on my part. Thank you for your patience! --Electoralreform (talk) 03:12, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Electoralreform 03:10, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Electoralreform

Pythia (band) Page

(any chance of reconsideration for it to be returned?)

Dear John,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask - but I was wondering if the Pythia (band) page could be considered for un-deletion. I just went to update it and found that I'm about a year late for the discussion on it's deletion.

I thought that they would pass the notability guidelines in that

1 - (subject of press) They have been covered in UK's primary metal magazine Metal Hammer (One 2 page spread on the band - issue released 8th Feb 2012 (probably March issue) pages 64 and 65, numerous concert reviews and their albums have been reviewed. Singer Emily was "Miss December" in Metal Hammer's maidens of Metal calendar (2010). They have also appeared in the other rock press magazines such as Terrorizer (extreme metal magazine), Powerplay, Kerrang although I don't have details (but I can ask to find them - some details on their FB page https://www.facebook.com/PythiaBand/info ).

4 - (tours) Not sure if this counts but they have performed numerous tours with artists that are on Wikipedia (such as Leaves Eyes, Arch Enemy, Dragonforce and Serenity). They have also played on the bill of one of the main UK metal festivals - Bloodstock - there is a fair amount of information on them on the Bloodstock site http://www.bloodstock.uk.com/events/boa-2012/bands/pythia They have also played at the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Female_Voices_Fest (2010) but are one of the few bands on the page not to link to a wikipedia page.

5 - Labels - their debut album was released through Genepool / Universal UK and worldwide and with Japanese label Spinning in 2011

6 - (notable musician - although only one) Their singer (Emily Alice Ovenden) is one of the singers from the Mediaeval Baebes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medi%C3%A6val_B%C3%A6bes - who have received good attention in the UK including TV coverage. Their last album did quite well I believe - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kings-And-Angels-Christmas-Collection/dp/B00F9B2O8G/ref=pd_sim_m_h__1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0139Y1D0RAD3TTRDRWPW

The artist behind one of the album covers was Brian Froud - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Froud and there is more info on the bands press coverage here https://liveandloud.com/artists/pythia

They have also had famous actor Brian Blessed appear on their recordings - not sure if that counts!

So - I was wondering if they could be reconsidered. If there is any proof of the above that is required (for cites) I can try to find the issue numbers by posting on their FB group.

Any advice on the best way of presenting information in hope of getting the page restored would be great!

Kind Regards,

Hi John,

Was looking for the page and it says you deleted it and I'm wondering why and what state it was in when you deleted it.

Thanks!

The reasons are very well explained on his talk page --| Uncle Milty | talk | 17:42, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
Apologies for delay in replying while I was on holiday. As Uncle Milty says, the reasons are explained at User talk:Gregg P. Sullivan: briefly, Wikipedia is not here to provide a web-hosting service for people to write about themselves or post their CVs. There are sites like LinkedIn and Facebook for that, but Wikipedia is different, not a social-networking site but a project to build an encyclopedia.
If you have trouble with the form you get by clicking "Create account" at the top of the screen, click on Wikipedia:Request an account where there is advice. You may choose a username related to your real name, or not, as you wish (see WP:REALNAME for some considerations), but it should not be the name of any other living person, or of any group or organization.
If you are employed by Mr Sullivan, and plan to write about him here, you should first carefully read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. JohnCD (talk) 20:11, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Just as a heads-up, I've created this as a redirect to 4Music because he presents a number of shows on Channel 4 sub-channels (T4, E4 and the ones I watch are on 4Music). Could you restore the deleted revisions "under" the redirect? I am interested to see if there is anything worth sculpting an article out of.--Launchballer 21:02, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

@Launchballer:  Done. The actual reason for deletion was BLP-prod - no references - but at a glance I doubt if he is notable enough for a stand-alone article. JohnCD (talk) 21:35, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
