Project news
Unreferenced BLPs

There's only a few Unreferenced BLPs (Biographies of living people) left. Why not head over to the page and help by adding sources to the articles? It's an important job, that requires assistance.

From the Editor

Hello and welcome to this, the second edition of the newsletter. This month, I need to ask a favour of you. You may have seen that this month I had to write the newsletter by my self. I really need your help with writing and giving suggestions. If you have a suggestion for a future edition, please list it at the tips desk. You may also notice the links underneath this piece. Please use them to share this newsletter on your favourite social networks. Until next time, happy editing!

Ways to promote the project
If you're interested in promoting the project, why not visit the Outreach department for more ideas?

There are many ways to promote the project. One of them is to add the project's ad to your userpage. To do this, simply add the code {{Template:Wikipedia ads|ad=212}} to your talk or user page. Another thing you can do is to invite other users to join the project. To find prospective members search the history pages of Children's literature-related articles and invite people who seem to be deoing good things for these articles. The code for the invitation template is {{subst:Wikipedia:WikiProject Children's literature/Invite}}.

Want to help on the next newsletter? Don't want to receive these in future? - It's all here

Blocked

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for uploading photos in violation of Wikipedia's policy on copyright. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Jayron32 05:08, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You have been warned multiple times to stop uploading images which are under copyright, and thus ineligible for use at Wikipedia. You just uploaded this image: File:Asa Butterfield and Amber Beattie in 2008.jpg (which will be deleted shortly, if not already). If you wish to be unblocked, you are going to have to pledge to refrain from uploading any more images at all. We take copyright seriously here at Wikipedia. --Jayron32 05:08, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I knew what I did was wrong and I had violated the rules of images policy in Wikipedia. I pledged myself to refrain from uploading any more images at all. After I am unblocked, I would want to contribute on my subpages of not notable people and also, other articles which are for public. I hope you could unblocked my account. Thank-you!

Decline reason:

You'll first need to explain your other account, Roundingdown (talk · contribs). Operating multiple accounts is not allowed. TNXMan 13:30, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

For my other account, Roundingdown is for other purpose in contributing to articles in Wikipedia. I hope you could unblock this account and not the other account. I pledged to refrain from uploading any more images and follow the policy of Wikipedia properly. Thank-you!

Decline reason:

It looks like you sued the second account in an attempt to evade the block on this account, which is a big no-no. The only reason you didn't is because you were caught by the autoblock. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:45, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

After reading the Wikipedia:Image use policy, I realised what I did was wrong and it is not right as images that I uploaded were copyrighted and unfree. Neither am I rambling nor using profanities. I promised that I will stop doing whatever I got blocked and also, I am here to help improve new articles, assessing articles by quality or by importance in choosing a topic of interest and grade according to that WikiProject's scale and others. I hope this would help and Wikipedia is a free encloypedia for people to share their ideas and thoughts. Thank-you! Abcassionchan 1:01 pm, Today (UTC+3)

Decline reason:

Socking and disregarding warnings about fundamentals like copyvios do not encourage me that you will be adding value if we unblock you. Spartaz Humbug! 17:59, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What about the issue related to trying to evade a validly-imposed block by creating another userid, contrary to the policy on multiple accounts? A block applies to you, the person - not just your userid. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 10:16, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I forgotten about this situation but I just don't really see the need of that account. I might put it for Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User and erase some sub pages in that account. I hope this would help, also with the previous reason too. Having a sock puppet account is not right as it is disencouraging to others in Wikipedia. Thank-you! Request reason:

I have tried to make my account being reviewed with more than 1 request. I just couldn't say anything about it but on one request: I would like to be block from uploading images and my other account, instead of blocking me from editing articles and this account. I couldn't just stay here as a blocked account and do nothing. Being a wikipedian is like a hobby to me and also, a pastime. I am not trying to sue my other account or trying to argue with the administrators like you. It is okay if this request is decline or accept. Thank-you! :)

Decline reason:

I actually do have some sympathy over the loss of your hobby. However, administrative decisions on Wikipedia have to be made on the basis of what is beneficial to Wikipedia, not what is nice for individual contributors. Your comments and unblock requests have shown a significant degree of disingenuity. For example, you have said "After reading the Wikipedia:Image use policy, I realised what I did was wrong", but in fact you had been warned about what you were doing many times, so the attempt to give the impression that you had not previously realised that there was a problem does not wash. It is not easy to have confidence in your word about your future editing in the light of such past examples. I suggest that you read Wikipedia:Standard offer, and consider coming back in six months. This is not a binding offer, and no promise is being made to you, but it is probably the best chance of your being able to return eventually. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:03, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This user is asking that her block be reviewed:

Abcassionchan (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

[EDITED] I had been wanting to unblock this account as soon as possible, due to not reading the image copyright rules in wikipedia, I would like to renew myself and start anew. This account was created at 16:21 on 14th June 2010 and it is a main account. I really want back my account and I couldn't explain an definite statement. Thank-you.

Notes:

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
  • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=[EDITED] I had been wanting to unblock this account as soon as possible, due to not reading the image copyright rules in wikipedia, I would like to renew myself and start anew. This account was created at 16:21 on 14th June 2010 and it is a main account. I really want back my account and I couldn't explain an definite statement. Thank-you. |3 = ~~~~}}

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}} with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.

{{unblock reviewed |1=[EDITED] I had been wanting to unblock this account as soon as possible, due to not reading the image copyright rules in wikipedia, I would like to renew myself and start anew. This account was created at 16:21 on 14th June 2010 and it is a main account. I really want back my account and I couldn't explain an definite statement. Thank-you. |decline = {{subst:Decline reason here}} ~~~~}}

If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following, substituting Accept reason here with your rationale:

{{unblock reviewed |1=[EDITED] I had been wanting to unblock this account as soon as possible, due to not reading the image copyright rules in wikipedia, I would like to renew myself and start anew. Let me try to make it clear. What we need here is a clear statement that you will not again violate Wikipedia's copyright policies. It is not enough to say that you have tried to learn them. Given the history of this account, we need a more definite statement than that. Feel free to alter your unblock request above. Looie496 (talk) 03:30, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
