Hi! Your attention needed at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/Acebot, please! —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 11:36, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Acebot on Wikimedia

Could you enable Acebot on Wikimedia? I created the NUMBEROF template over there a few days ago, and now the bot needs to be running in order to update the numbers. Iketsi (talk) 13:22, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! It works great, but Latgalian (ltg) and Kabardian (kbd) need to be updated too. Iketsi (talk) 19:11, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I added these two Wikipedias and corrected the entry for English Wikipedia (previously it didn't work). To update this statistics on a regular basis, I have to apply for a bot status at meta:Requests for adminship#Requests for bot flags. Could you please point to me pages at Wikimedia where NUMBEROF will be used? I have to explain why it is needed. -- Ace111 (talk) 22:01, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's currently used on meta:List of Wikipedias by language group and the meta:Template:NUMBEROFGROUP template which sums up the data by language group. Your bot will also be extremely useful on: meta:List of Wikipedias by edits per article, meta:List of Wikipedias by sample of articles, meta:List of Wikipedias by speakers per article, and meta:List of Wikipedias by language family, where users have been begging for an automated solution for years. -- Iketsi (talk) 17:22, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I made a request for the bot flag: meta:Meta:Requests for bot status/Acebot. -- Ace111 (talk) 22:06, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Add Languages to Acebot

Anders Behring Brevik

Where did you get this information from. I cannot see a reference, and it seems unlikely. Keanu (talk) 17:18, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Institute for High Energy Physics, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page U-70 (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Acebot on Esperanto Wikipedia

Could you enable Acebot on the Esperanto Wikipedia? The NUMBEROF template has been created over a year ago (it's called Ŝablono:Nombro da), but it is not being automatically updated. Your bot's data is very useful when it comes to creating articles with dynamically-updating statistics about the number of articles and other data related to Wikipedias. --Iketsi (talk) 23:01, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will try. Currently, this template is not used in the Esperanto Wikipedia. Do you plan something that will use it? -- Ace111 (talk) 00:17, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. It will be used on articles about Wikipedias (Vikipedio en Esperanto, Anglalingva Vikipedio, etc.) and internal statistics (Vikipedio:Internacia Vikipedio). Let me know when it's up and running! --Iketsi (talk) 00:45, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I came here for making exactly the same request. I have dreamed for a long time to automatize the updating of Vikipedio:Internacia Vikipedio. So it's great if you can help with your bot, daily updating Ŝablono:Nombro da. We then could build a template which would put the data in the aimed page. Thanks --Arno Lagrange  01:56, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Your dreams are coming true! I made the first edits and filed a request for the bot flag here: eo:Vikipedio:Roboto/Permespeto#Acebot_.281_Maj._2012.29. If you would like to have the edit summary of the bot in your native language :), please tell me what I should put there. -- Ace111 (talk) 13:53, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I provided the Esperanto edit summary on the request. --Iketsi (talk) 19:55, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Bot: Automatic update of variables => Roboto: Aŭtomata ĝisdatigo de variabloj
Thanks a lot. You noticed that we have still created eo:Ŝablono:La tridek plej grandaj vikipedioj. So it is yet working. --Arno Lagrange  21:43, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A suggestion: could you add a line about last update in the template:

| date= 2012 05 01

or

| date = 1-a de majo 2012

This format you can get by {{CURRENTDATE}}-a de {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}} --Arno Lagrange  21:53, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

An other suggestion : could your bot automatically update eo:Ŝablono:Vikipedio laŭ artikolnombro which lists Wikipedias by article number rank. I created it with the only 30 biggest but it could contain all wikipedias. It is useful to automatically order statistics (as in eo:Ŝablono:La tridek plej grandaj vikipedioj). --Arno Lagrange  22:19, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I put the result to eo:Uzanto:Ace111/Article number. The list is sorted according to the number of articles, and additionally I put the list of blocked Wikipedias at the end (mo cho ng ii mh aa kj ho mus kr hz). Does it suit in this way? Should the bot update directly at eo:Ŝablono:Vikipedio laŭ artikolnombro? -- Ace111 (talk) 14:17, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes It would be more consistent to update update directly at eo:Ŝablono:Vikipedio laŭ artikolnombro.
I tried to create eo:Ŝablono:Artikolnombro de ĉiuj vikipedioj which should list all wikipedias. I saw it in some preview around 14:00 MET, and while trying to make it better I did o more see it (nor right now) it produces a Wikimedia error. The request is to heavy for Wikimedia servers. I suspected it and now I have checked. I'll try to find out another solution. --Arno Lagrange  19:56, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've created a pretty dynamic chart eo:Ŝablono:Artikolnombro de ĉiuj vikipedioj/grafiko. It is easy translatable because based on a SVG file grid. --Arno Lagrange  15:46, 8 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Updates

What happens ? Your bot did not update Ŝablono:Nombro da/dateno since May 8th while it did update the respective templates in en:WP and in meta. Could you please add these two lines :

| dato | date = {{REVISIONDAY2}}/{{REVISIONMONTH}}/{{REVISIONYEAR}}
| uzanto |user = [[Uzanto:{{REVISIONUSER}}|{{REVISIONUSER}}]]

so we can display last update date and last editor. Thanks. --Arno Lagrange  17:59, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OK you've updated today. Thanks.
I just put the dynamic chart into meta in 3 languages (en eo fr). Could your bot update meta:Template:Wikipedias by article number which is the same as eo:Ŝablono:Vikipedio_laŭ_artikolnombro? --Arno Lagrange  22:04, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sorry, I still didn't make the updates automatic in eowiki because the bot status is not yet approved. And for manual update, I was busy and forgot about it. Concerning the changes you propose, I will try to do them tomorrow. How do plan to use "date" and "user" field? And concerning meta:Template:Artikolnombro de ĉiuj vikipedioj/grafiko/en, probably it would be nice to have a version for relatively large Wikipedias (say, greater than 100k articles)? -- Ace111 (talk) 23:08, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I just give status bot to eo:Uzanto:Acebot.
Date and user will be used in documentation page (and elsewhere needed) so : "Last updated on {{Nombro da/dateno|date}} by {{Nombro da/dateno|user}}. So we can easily check when occurred the last update.
A version for greater Wikipedias is easily makable. I have already made such charts for a lecture about Wikipedias. See Vikipedio en 282 lingvoj (wikipedias in 282 languages) and La plej grandaj vikipedioj (The biggest ones)
Cheers --Arno Lagrange  15:49, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you (should eo:Vikipedio:Roboto/Permespeto be updated?). I have implemented the changes. The bot will update both templates once a day. Additional template will be also updated in meta. -- Ace111 (talk) 16:52, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I did it! it's a bit confuse, but I'll come later and make it better. --Arno Lagrange  23:05, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lacking languages

In your bot dump for {{NUMBEROF/data}} 3 languages are lacking : ltg: kbd: xmf: Cheers --Arno Lagrange  12:21, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. -- Ace111 (talk) 13:54, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
