The article [[Kalhan]] has been [[Wikipedia:Proposed deletion|proposed for deletion]] because of the following concern:

I noticed that recently you added a section to Tourism in India called Tourism in Madhya Pradesh. I thought that there was enough information there for an entire article, so I used your input for that section to creat another article by the name of Tourism in Madhya Pradesh. I did have to reformat the article a bit to make it a little easier to read, I also did some research and used some of the best images that I could find to add to the article. After I created the new article using your information I reduced what was in the section for Madhya Pradesh in the Tourism in India article. I have acually made three new articles using the infomation from that one article. Also Tourism in Maharashtra, and Tourism in Andhra Pradesh. Check it out. جميع أفراد المجتمع المؤهلين مدعوون للتصويت في انتخابات مجلس أمناء مؤسسة ويكيميديا.

Hi Mindys12345 ! Thanks for creating separate page for Tourism in Madhya Pradesh. It is nice. We are planning to expand it. --burdak 04:50, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I had a look at Tribals in Madhya Pradesh, the format for that article seems to be fine. The other article might need a bit. I'll try to think of something, I have an Idea but that might make the article to long. I'll get back to you later with some ideas if poss. Re : Jat Page

Please stop removing the tags of the Jat page without discussion. This makes us Jatts look like we cannot discuss issues in a rational manner. Also these tags have now been removed several times so I will be left with no option but to report this matter if this continues and the page may be locked. Thanks --Sikh-history 11:34, 20 July 2007 (UTC) DS Dhaliwal.[reply]

There is already a dispute tag on the header seems not necessary to put more dispute tags on each section. There is limit of period for such tags and if dispute is not resolved these can be removed. There seems not much of contribution to this page from your side. By the way whom do you expect to resolve these tags and within what period? burdak 16:38, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Have you read the yahoo groups link?
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/JatHistory/message/4526
It is made very clear in that link chandragupta is not gutta and hence not jatta/jat/jutta. Calling Chandragupta a jat is just a figment of imagination of some and nothing else. Please stop vandalising this page with your bias.

I request you to stop vandalising the jat page. Itihaaskar 19:34, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We need some impartial anthropological evidence. We need to seperate what is religious history (in my case Sikh but also Hindu), and what is Jatt history. We need ISBN numbers for ALL refrences. Till then we will not be taken seriously and we will be attacked.--Sikh-history 18:55, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do not delete content from Jat people

You have been warned but still deleting content from Jat people and vandalizing it, which is your only contribution to Wikipedia. If you have something discuss. You are again and again writing only one line that Chandragupta is not Jat. It is not sufficient to prove any thing. So please come forward with any substantial proof. Don't delete content from Jat people without discussion !!! --burdak 15:19, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is a figment of imagination to associate Chandragupts Maurya with Jats. He belonged to the Mauria/Muria clan, and that is why Peacock was a taboo for Mauryas. Jats have no association with Mauriya/Muria/Maurya (cf. Romila Thapar's 'Asoka and the decline of the MAuryas'). But Itihaaskar should not delete others' views, Itihaaskar should add his own version. --Vinay Jha 15:12, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Citations needed in History of Rajasthan

The article mentions in ancient history section about kingdoms of Rajputs in 6th century. The term Rajput was invented about 7th century AD. It seems speculation. Thakur Deshraj is one of the prominent Historian. He has mentioned about Rajputs in his book on Jat history page 113-114, The Gazetteer of India Vol 2 (page 307-308), Which deals with the Rajputs writes as under:

"Then between the 7th and 8th centuries the old racial divisions passed away and a new division came in founded upon status and function.... The rise of Rajputs determined the whole political history of time. They made their first appearance in 8-9th centuries; most of the greatest clans took possession of their seats between 800 and 850 AD. ..."

In view of these facts the ancient history of Rajasthan needs revision. If the contributirs feel they have facts they may provide in the article. So I have put citation tags. --burdak 04:46, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why I moved the image of the so-called "Indian Bison"

It seems that Mr. Burdak has not read the article on bison from which I moved the image before he saw fit to (wrongly) criticise me again. The article on Bison very clearly says: "Bison is a taxonomic group containing six species of large even-toed ungulates within the subfamily Bovinae. Only two of these species still exist: the American Bison (B. bison) and the European Bison, or wisent (B. bonasus)."

In fact the article on Bison states very clearly: "The gaur, a large, thick-coated ox found in Asia, is also known as the Indian Bison, although it is in the genus Bos and thus not a true bison."

This means that, even though the Gaur is sometimes referred to as the "Indian Bison" - this is an incorrect naming (rather like the American Bison being called a Buffalo - which it is not). So, it should not be pictured on the bison page.

I will, therefore, move this image once again - to its proper place in the article on the Gaur (Bos gaurus). John Hill 04:11, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Karvir (clan)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Karvir (clan), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Karvir (clan) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Karvir (clan), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Keep

Karvir is one of ancient clans of hostorical importance. The article is in offing and will slowly develope. If deleted we will loose info about ancient Iranian clan which spread up to India. It is requested to keep it. burdak 12:45, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chaudhary surname

It is correct that many Muslim Jat people in Pakistan use the surname Chaudhary. Also in India. It is based on title. Article is already there in Wikipedia. We need to expand it. We will do it very soon. Thanks. burdak (talk) 16:23, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:288baladitya-and-yashodharma.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:288baladitya-and-yashodharma.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 18:29, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

White Tiger Picture

Hello there LRBurdak,

I saw that you uploaded this White Tiger picture here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:White_Tiger.jpg

I got an enquiry about the photo, Where did you take this photo? As in, is it in an Indian Zoo? I ask that because i am very interested to know whether this is a purebred Bengal White Tiger. As you know White Tigers from all around the world(except India) are all Bengal/Siberian Hybrid Tigers so seeing a picture of a purebred White Bengal Tiger is rare.

So did you take this photo at an Indian Zoo? Can you please specify its name so that i can contact it on whether or not their white tigers are purebred Bengal?

Thanks alot. China's Tiger (talk) 10:14, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Barkatullah.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:26, 21 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK 18:26, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GFDL tag has been added to Image:Barkatullah.JPG. Thanks.

Thank you for trying to fix. If you scanned, took, or downloaded it from somewhere, just tell where did you find that image. GFDL tag doesn't tell the source. Thank you again. Happy editing, Happy uploading.--OsamaK 15:04, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I have put the source on the image. burdak (talk) 02:13, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree Image:Swami Omanand.jpg

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Swami Omanand.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Storkk (talk) 10:08, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed GFDL-self tag and put GFDL-tag on the image. Thanks for correcting.burdak (talk) 02:10, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi... please see my comment on the discussion page... did the original author really license the image GFDL?? If you could give the original author, the original date, as well as the source you got it from and its date of publication, then since this person is dead, an argument could be made that you could claim Fair Use for this picture as long as you provide a {{rationale}} claiming it to be irreplaceable and necessary for each article that it is featured in (it would probably have to be removed from Jat people, but could stay on en.wikipedia servers and illustrate his article). Cheers, Storkk (talk) 05:01, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Here is the source http://www.jatland.com/home/Image:Swami_Omanand.jpg It is Having GFDL licence. No copy right. Thanks. burdak (talk) 08:15, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Bhishmaka, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. List of the Mahabharata tribes - Roma

Hi,

Can you please take a look at my question at Talk:List of the Mahabharata tribes?

Thanks in advance. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 16:10, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed Roma

Thanks Amir E. Aharoni. I have changed it to Romana as used in Mahabharata English version along with Sanskrit name. I have merged Roma and Romaka to Romana. Romana still leads to a wrong link so put it as under: Romana (रॊमाण)(VI.10.54). burdak (talk) 02:43, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Roma (city) (रोम)

Mahabharata Sabha Parva (II.48.49) mentions a city Roma in Sahdeva's conquest. So with modification added again as Roma (city) (रोम)- antākhīṃ caiva romāṃ ca yavanānāṃ puraṃ tathā, dūtair eva vaśe cakre karaṃ cainān adāpayat Mahabharata Sabha Parva (II.48.49) burdak (talk) 04:33, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Budania, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Budania. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Hello. It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on others' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote—in order to influence Budania. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. warrior4321 02:15, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Dharmrajeshwar, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.jatland.com/home/Dhamnar. The content on Jatland site is having GFDL license hence no copy right violation. See http://www.jatland.com/home/Jatland_Wiki:Copyrights

I am expanding the article and removing copyvio tag. Thanks. burdak (talk) 15:06, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FYI

You may or may not be aware that Wikipedia textual content was relicensed sometime last year to be GFDL/cc-by-sa-3.0. Consequently, we can no longer accept text that is solely licensed under the GFDL, like from [1]. See the terms of use for more details (under "importing text"). RE: Jandu

Hi LRBurdak. So far yours is the onlty decent reference I have found on Jandu. I was wondering, in order to prevent vandalism from from what I can only describe as a few "zealots", could you add more references. Expansion on the Ramgarhia/Punjab Jandu's would be good too, and an explanation as to how they became separated from their Harayanavi and Rajhasthani brethren and became a different caste. In England and Canada "Jandu" Ramgarhia's are very famous poets and song writers. So called "Janu Litteranwala" has sold millions of records and written for many famous singers. Unreferenced BLPs

Hello LRBurdak! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 6 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 105 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Asiagh. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

The article Natthan Singh has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for reliable sources found nothing that could establish notability. I could not find anything online about the reference cited in the references section.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —Joshua Scott (LiberalFascist) talk 00:46, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject India Newsletter Volume V, Issue no. 1 - (June 2010)

Project News

WP:IND Newsletter is back! It's been nearly a year since the last edition, but we hope to bring out issues on a more regular basis now. The India Wikiproject was set up to increasing coverage of India-related topics on Wikipedia, and over the past few months the focus has been on improving article quality. A number of the project's featured articles underwent featured article reviews over the past year. Of these, Darjeeling and Flag of India survived the review process, while the rest were demoted. During the same period, Gangtok, Harbhajan Singh, Darjeeling and Mysore were featured on the main page respectively on August 20, September 17, November 6 and December 29, 2009. Meanwhile, articles on topics as diverse as Political history of Mysore and Coorg (1565–1760), Marwari horse and Iravan were promoted as featured articles, and respectively appeared on the main page on March 25, May 17 and May 28, 2010. Consequently, the number of FA-class articles under the project's scope dropped from 67 in August 2009 to 63 in June 2010. The number of good articles, however, saw a more than 40% increase, from 91 to 130 during the same period, while the number of featured lists saw a 33% increase from 12 to 16.

Due to the recent policy changes regarding unreferenced Biographies of Living People (BLPs), an effort was started in January 2010 to source all unreferenced BLPs coming under Wikiproject India. 1200 such articles were identified initially and more were added to the list later. Due to the sourcing effort, the number of Indian unreferenced BLPs is down to 565 currently. During February-April 2010, There was a large scale disruption of Kerala related articles by a Thrissur based IP vandal. Editing from a dynamic IP BSNL connection, the vandal changed dates of birth, death and ages of a number of Malayalam and Tamil film actors. Later he added a few international biographies to his list. He also marked some living people like Arvind Swamy as dead. A month long range block was imposed on his IP range two times and each time he came back to vandalise dates once the block expired. Currently the range has been blocked for three months till September 11, 2010.

What's New?
Current proposals and discussions
 • A discussion is underway here to reach a consensus regarding the use of Indian number names (lakh, crore etc.) in Wikipedia articles. Please participate and add your comments.
 • A discussion is in progress here in order to determine whether non-Western (including Indian) forms of classical music should be referred to by the nomenclature of art music instead of classical music. Please participate and add your comments.
 • Watchlist the Articles for Deletions page for India related discussions. Opinions from more Indian Wikipedians are required in many of the discussions.

If you've just joined, add your name to the Members section of WikiProject India. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy!

Lastly, this is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue (Issue 2 – (July 2010)). Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned, or just start editing!

Hello. On November 5th, a contributor listed Jat history (1669-1858), an article which you created, for copyright review. On brief examination, his concerns do seem to be substantiated. For example, in your foundational edit, you included the following text:

The Jats, though simmering with discontent, were constrained to remain quiet during these ten years. It is not difficult to trace the reasons for their general passivity. The bitter memory of their ruthless suppression by the imperialists had yet not faded completely form their minds. They must have been deterred also by Emperor’s general success against his enemies. Then again it is also likely that the Jats as yet were not able to make good their heavy loss suffered during the preceding encounter with the Mughals.

This book says:

The Jats, though simmering with discontent, were constrained to remain quiet during these ten years. It is not difficult to trace the reasons for their general passivity. It is not difficult to trace the reasons for their general passivity. The bitter memory of their ruthless suppression by the imperialists had yet not faded completely from their minds. They must have been deterred also by Emperor's general success against his enemies. Then again, it is also likely that the Jats as yet were not able to make good their heavy loss, suffered during the preceding encounter with the Mughals.

More content has been copied from that book:

I do not yet know if other books were copied as well, but unless we can verify permission for the content or otherwise determine that it is free for our reuse, the article will have to be rewritten from scratch or deleted. You should have been notified on November 5th of these concerns to give you time to address them. As you were not, I am notifying you now and relisting the matter. Since it contains many useful links, I will give you the official notice below. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:23, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have now also blanked 1669 Jat uprising, as it seems to contain content from the same book. If you can verify permission to reuse this content, as set forth in the official notice below, both articles can be restored. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:36, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Jat history (1669–1858), but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from (see article's talk page), and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Jat history (1669–1858) saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:23, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm growing very concerned about this. Farmers' movements in India seems to have been founded with content copied from The Encyclopaedia Indica (more detail is at the article's talk page). It, too, is now blanked. Social customs of Jat people was created with content copied at least from History of the Jats, though I'm unsure if that content remains. In this edit, you seem to have copied content into Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon from The Encyclopaedia. Jats in the pre-Aurangzeb period is blanked for content from The Jats, their role in the Mughal Empire and The Jats: their role & contribution to the socio-economic life and polity of north & north-west India, Volume 1. It looks as though you have created or expanded a good many articles on Wikipedia by copying content from previously published sources. Unless there is good explanation for this, I'm afraid we will need to conduct a contributor copyright investigation here to ensure that content you've added is compliant with our copyright policies. Can you explain why this copying should not represent a copyright concern? --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:05, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since you have evidently not returned to Wikipedia and the investigation period on these particular articles is over, I have opened a discussion at Contributor copyright investigations concerning your contributions in relation to Wikipedia's copyrights policy. The listing can be found here. For some suggestions on responding, please see Responding to a CCI case. Thank you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:03, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was away on tour and could not access Wikipedia. I found on return that a lot of content has been deleted. The articles

are based on content from 'The Jats, their role in the Mughal Empire' by Girish Chandra Dwivedi - 1989. The author of this book died long back at an early age of forty-one. As such these are not now copyrighted contents. Regards, burdak (talk) 04:24, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dwivedi died in 1979 (according to http://www.infibeam.com/Books/info/dr-girish-chandra-dwivedi/jats-their-role-mughal-empire/9788188629084.html#newUsedBooks). The duration of copyright under Indian copyright law is sixty years from the beginning of the calendar year next following the year in which the author dies.(section 22; page `15) His works remain under copyright in India until 2039.
Meanwhile, since you did not return in time to see the examples at the talk pages, I moved them to Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2010 November 13, except for the listing on Jat history (1669–1858), since there were examples already at your talk page. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:39, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The copyright of the book 'The Jats - Their Role in the Mughal Empire' by Dr Girish Chandra Dwivedi was purchased by Surajmal Memorial Education Society Delhi and Edited by Dr Vir Singh in 2003. It was Published by M/S Originals (an imprint of low priced publications), A-6, Nimri commercial Centre, Near Ashok Vihar, Phase-IV, Delhi-110052. Before posting these articles on Wikipedia I had contacted Editor Dr Vir Singh who permitted me to do so. So these articles may be restored back. Only if they verify their copyright ownership and their license through proper procedures. These are explained in the template above. And this does not address content added from other books. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:36, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was away on tour and when returned I found that Farmers' movements in India has been deleted. I t seems not fair. You wrote that article Farmers' movements in India seems to have been founded with content copied from The Encyclopaedia Indica (more detail is at the article's talk page). No proper justification was given for deletion. There seems no basis to delete it and there is no such information on the article's talk page about this. burdak (talk) 04:54, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jat history (1669-1858) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ttonyb (talk) 04:44, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject India Newsletter Volume V, Issue no. 2 - November 2010

English WikiProject News

After a missed issue, the WP:IND newsletter is back on track to being a regular bimonthly feature. The Indian WikiProject has seen plenty of online and off-line action, both in English as well as other Indian languages, and we now have a bigger, better format that intends to feature content and news from the English as well as other Indian language Wikipedias.

Reaching out to Indians has been the theme of the Indian Wikiproject over the past couple of months, aiming to involve a greater number of Indians in editing both the English and Indian language Wikipedias. To this end, efforts to set up the Indian chapter of Wikimedia have moved into their final stages, and registration of the society is currently pending. An effort is underway to push for "WikiMarathons" at meetups, where attendees will be encouraged to edit the English and/or Indian language Wikipedias. This is intended to popularise Wikipedia editing among the general public. In addition, a bot to post DYK's from the Indian Wikiproject to Twitter was created and launched by User:Logicwiki.

What's New?

Regrettably, the number of Featured Articles has dropped from 63 in June to 58 at the end of October 2010. Several FAs came up for review and were delisted, while Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties of India was saved. Meanwhile, Chalukya Dynasty appeared on the main page on July 9, 2010. Hearteningly, the number of Good Articles increased from 130 to 136 during the same period, while the number of Featured Lists remained constant at 16.

The source code for the Article Alert Bot is now available and the bot itself is expected to be up and running very shortly. This means that article alerts for the Indian Wikiproject will again be available, enabling editors to easily keep track of developments in respect of reviews, nominations, deletions etc.

The date change vandal mentioned briefly in the previous issue made a reappearance when the range block on his IP range expired in September. Consequently the block was extended till September 2011.

In October there was a heated discussion in the India project noticeboard regarding the copyright status of the Indian party symbols. The discussion was triggered by the deletion of Wiki San Roze's party symbol images by Hammersoft as copyright violations. No resolution was reached, partly because of our inability to explain to Hammersoft how election symbols in India differ from party logos. Comments are requested from anyone with a background in Indian copyright law to clarify this issue.

File permission problem with File:Dr Natthan Singh.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Dr Natthan Singh.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

 • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
 • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —SpacemanSpiff 06:39, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

APPEAL TO YOU Reg: [BRAHMAN PUJAN] , [UNIVERSAL PRAYERS] . written by [Naresh Sonee] On wikipedia , These above two pages are far older than the present article [Brahman] References of above titles are also available on New York site - http://www.printsasia.com/BookDetails.aspx?Id=445813482 Meanwhile, Can your good selves in Wiki Project Indian Community re-create a precise pages on [Naresh Sonee] & his book [Brahmand Pujan] – [Brahmaand Pujan] . However, Sonee is the writer of this book [Brahmand Pujan] written in 1999 . registered with Government of India- HRRD. Details of the registration is provided here on http://brhmaandpujanbook.tripod.com/ . More than sufficient, news and reviews are there on http://brhmaandpujan-news-reviews.tripod.com/ Since 5-6 yrs, for one or the other reason pages of [Naresh Sonee] & [Brahmand Pujan] are faced by communal bias from outside India so these articles over and again get deleted here in Wikipedia for minor reasons. However, many hits of - Naresh Sonee reflects on google search engine also. So, I request Wiki Indian community to kindly come forward and generously help these two pages to grow, as I am fed up to fight my case alone here [left] and moved out long back. Meanwhile, such an important info/issue on ‘Indian literature’ which adds & spell ‘new meaning /dimension’ to Brahman -should it stay lost else ignored? Your community panel has to judge at last. Myself, will not be on Wikipedia, for the same i apologise, but- pls. help these two pages to get reinstalled, reap, sow and grow, if you too feel so, I appeal to do this munificent favour. A tag has been placed on File:Mahendra Singh Tikait.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

—SpacemanSpiff 15:09, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please join the discussion at Talk:Jat people

Hello Sir,

You are one of the Senior editors here on Wikipedia, and definitely an expert on India related articles. Sir, I kindly request Your assistance. Actually, Sikh-History has reverted some of My contributions to the article: Jat people. I have some reasonable doubts and believes that the information should be on the page. I have also shared My views for this. The explaination for the reverts, does not seems to be fair enough. You are quite an experienced One. So, I respectfully ask You to please join the discussion at Section: Experts' Assistance deeply Requested, about the Guidelines of Wikipedia. at Talk:Jat people. For which, I would be grateful to You! Could You also please put some light on the issue under discussion there, as You have a strong grip over India related articles.

Thanks! Sincerely: Abstruce (talk) 17:46, 18 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Dharmpal Singh Dudee has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

BLP that has been unsourced since 2006. No significant coverage found.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello Dear Respected Sir,

I have represented My viewpoints on the issue under discussion here. I think You may like to have a look. It's an honor communicating with You. Thanks! --Abstruce (Talk) 12:45, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Give me a chance to edit the article

You've been editing the Jat people article for an eternity and have produced nothing but garbage. Please give me a chance to edit the page. I know more about the history of non-elite occupational castes than your condescending post on my talk page seems to suggest. Best regards, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 03:35, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said, you had your moment in the sun (that stretched into years) and you produced delusional hagiography of the Jats. Let me edit the page. All my edits are impeccably sourced and I likely know more about the histories of the peasant castes such as Jat than you will ever guess. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 10:15, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ravi Shankar Godara has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not pass WP:BIO or WP:GNG

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —SpacemanSpiff 07:52, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Warning October 2011

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Jat people. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Please do not remove sourced content. If you don't stop, you could get blocked. Let this be a first warning.

Re Warning October 2011

Dear Fowler and Fowler, there is a saying in Hindi - ulta chor kotwal ko date. As already written to you that you have very limited knowledge about Jats and that is only of British era which carries no meaning. British were biased against Jats and their references can not be taken as reliable references. It has been discussed on Wikipedia at proper forms. So better be constructive and do not write negative things. It is a community edtiting and you do not have monoploly rights. Deletion can be done after proper discussion only. I fear your knowledge about Jat community is obsolete and can be treated as Vandalism. You wrote warning on my page but dare not sign. Be constructive and prove that you have proper knowledge. Do not revert well referenced content which you have done, Which shows your lack of knowledge about this community. It is not a tiller community only though some section of it was during British time.burdak (talk) 04:09, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Overlinking etc

I realise that you have been around here for some time but have you ever read WP:OVERLINK or WP:REFPUNC? For that matter, have you ever read up on the various ways of providing decent citations? If you have not then I would recommend that you do so. - Sitush (talk) 16:24, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify the above

It is quite obvious that, despite what you may claim, the above three images and many other images of people which you uploaded a few years ago are not in fact "self-created" in the Wikipedia sense. Sure, you may have scanned them (or whatever) but you did not create them. I am not the only person who has voiced some quite serious concerns about a lot of your image uploads, including the "cartoon-style" ones that are simply not suitable for use in biographical articles etc - they're figments of your imagination, often of people who were most likely dead before you were born and in some cases before the camera was around! User:Fowler&fowler has been particularly expressive on the subject.

Please can you spend some time self-reviewing the uploads and arranging deletion of those that are obviously incorrect either in licensing, in sourcing, in plain old reality ... or any mix of those three? Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 03:39, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can understand bias of people like Fowler&fowler and Sitush who are bent upon to to undo efforts and the content created over last many years on Wikipedia on some heroes who have really done for the society. I have observed what people like Fowler&fowler and Sitush have contributed to Wikipedia. They feel if they are the owners of Wikipedia. I do not have time to waste with such people. Admins should intervene and watch their intensions !!! burdak (talk) 03:59, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Speedy deletion nomination of Bhullar

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Bhullar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your contributed article, Jat (Sangli)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Jat (Sangli). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Jat, Sangli. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Jat, Sangli - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. . Shlok talk . 04:27, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to fail WP:GNG. Unsourced for a long time & originated at jatland.com, an open wiki. While the word exists as a first name - eg: Bhambu Rai and Bhambu Khan - I am struggling to find any reliable sources for any variant of the spelling being a gotra.

Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article Dookya has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG. I've searched around under all three variant spellings and all I can find is some British Raj mentions of a cave called "Dookya Ghur" that has some connection to Buddhism - we don't have an article for that, creating one based on Raj sources is dodgy & so we cannot redirect. This is probably just another Indian surname.

Fails WP:GNG. It is a name in India, something in Rwanda, an oath and the phrase "barna bajya" = "kingdom of god"/"perfect society" ... but I can find no sources discussing it as a caste community, regardless of the alternate spellings.
