Tagging circa 850 categories for renaming

Coding... a general XfD tag-on-demand bot for just this sort of thing, will file a general BRFA with reference to this run later. - Mobius Clock 15:32, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks. Let me know if a I can help with a bot readable list of pages to tag, or the like. şṗøʀĸɕäɾłäů∂ɛ:τᴀʟĸ 19:15, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Bot-readable list of pages would help greatly, if you don't mind. Thanks. - Mobius Clock 19:29, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No prob. Do you want it with "[[ ]]" or without? şṗøʀĸɕäɾłäů∂ɛ:τᴀʟĸ 19:31, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
With the brackets, one per line, kthx. - Mobius Clock 19:32, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks and let me know if you proposed name list is unneed or you prefer it differently, e.g. {{subst:cfr|Populated places in Foo|More settlements}}
I also could come up with about a thousand more catagoies that need moving like these, if you have the time. They don't need doing all today. şṗøʀĸɕäɾłäů∂ɛ:τᴀʟĸ 19:46, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, thanks for the list. I'll finish and clean up the code tonight with a view to filing a BRFA and (hopefully) getting started tomorrow. - Mobius Clock 19:58, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry. This gets more complicated if you start tommorow because the "{{subst:cfr" subst text based on the then current date which would then link the tommorow's CFD page, and the discussion is currently on today's page.
The simplest fix is that if you cannot do it today I will just remove the un-tagged ones in the morning from Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2010 May 5#More settlements. Tomorrow or when ever they are all tagged I will just recreate another CDF on that date. Just let me know if you change what you can do, and when they are ready.
We just have to try and create all tags on the same day (in Wikipedia time) that ought to be discussed togther. şṗøʀĸɕäɾłäů∂ɛ:τᴀʟĸ 20:09, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, didn't know about that. The chances are that even if I filed a BRFA now, it wouldn't get approved until at least tomorrow anyway, so I think your plan is best. When the tagging run is complete you can relist the other categories. I'll do each subsection as a bulk lot to make organising the CfDs easier. - Mobius Clock 20:14, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just to let anyone know who's watching this, that I've filed a BRFA for this task (coding didn't take as long as I thought), feel free to comment here. - Mobius Clock 20:50, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Huh?

Any news on whether a CfD for some of the other cats is in the works? - Mobius Clock 08:56, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There is this one, but I have been waiting on approval for this bot. Why is it taking so long? şṗøʀĸɕäɾłäů∂ɛ:τᴀʟĸ 22:31, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose the BAG were waiting for an appropriate CfD to be posted here so that a trial can be authorized. I can't run a trial without categories to tag ^_^. Now that we have one it shouldn't take too long. - Mobius Clock 09:43, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't follow. Lots of CfDs have started and finished on this topic. I am waiting on the approval to start more. şṗøʀĸɕäɾłäů∂ɛ:τᴀʟĸ 16:35, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose I meant that the BAG can't monitor CfD 24/7 waiting for one to pop up. Now that one's been brought to their attention, approval shouldn't take too long. - Mobius Clock 17:16, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why do they need one? And if they need one, why don't we just point them to a better one. What would they be looking for? Approval? Existence? Format? şṗøʀĸɕäɾłäů∂ɛ:τᴀʟĸ 17:33, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
They need to know that one is ready, so that they know the trial will be completed soon after approval. All bots need to perform some (~20) 'trial run' edits which can be examined for problems before a bot receives final approval. They're not really interested in the exact CfD, just that one's ready. - Mobius Clock 22:37, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
